Well I am not sure if this will help in your situation but when I was young we always had kids busting through piles of leaves in the fall. This always pissed off my Dad as we always had to spend several weekends raking them and then hauling them off. Well one year my Dad did some landscaping in the form of several large boulders and we just happened to dump all the leaves on top of them. Well you can just image what happened after that. Cars make such a noise when meeting up with large rocks. Dad removed the boulders in the spring and we never had an issue again. If he was to do that today I am sure he would get sued but in the early 70's you could get away with that stuff. It was pretty funny especially when Dad called the parents [] Laters, Jeff

I second the recommendation for the Panasonic PT-AX100U. I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and it just rocks. Pair with my HD-DVD player it is some of the best video I have seen. Laters, Jeff

OK - I was wrong (or, Cornwalls are AWESOME)
eq_shadimar replied to popbumper's topic in Technical/Restorations
Chris - About damm time you acknowledged that Cornwalls are the greatest speaker ever! Of course since I have five of them you might consider me a tad biased. Laters, Jeff -
WOW! Very very nice theater. Now you have time to sit back and enjoy the show. Laters, Jeff

Oh I can help you! I grew up in Peru (just up the mountain from Manchester) and went to high school in Manchester and I go back there regularly as I still have family in the area. The Equinox is a very nice hotel (and really the only "true" hotel in the area) but you can throw a dart and hit numerous b&b's and small motels in the area. There may be snow on Thanksgiving, it is not uncommon. Bromley tries to make it's season Thanksgiving to Easter. I doubt you will find enough snow for dog sledding but some of the operations offer dog carting in the summer so you may still be able to do some sort of activity. The weather that time of year can be spotty. Most likely it will be in the 40's and raining. However you can get some really nice sunny days too. Thanksgiving is well past the "leaf peeping" season. The peak time is usally at the start of October. If you need any other information just post back here. Laters, Jeff

DFW Hornheads get-together on Sat. Sept. 23
eq_shadimar replied to Seadog's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
WOOT!! It rocked. I had a blast. It was great to listen to the mighty KHorns, see fellow Hornheads, hear great tunes, and partake in some great food and drink. I would agree with David's assessment of the tweeters. The amplification made a difference with my preference as well. Once again David thank you for being such a great host! Unless someone else plans one sooner I will have a "east side" get together at my house late winter. Laters, Jeff -
Best Center Channel Speaker for vintage LaScalas?
eq_shadimar replied to texas42's topic in Home Theater
I have a Cornwall mounted above my 65" RPTV. No issues. Speaking from experience I agree that Heritage needs Heritage. The center channel is the MOST important speaker in a multi-channel system. Make it work!! Laters, Jeff -
WOW I am a bit late to this thread but glad to hear that you are keeping them. I can tell you that an all Cornwall HT system rocks. Take a look at my website if you need convincing. Heresy's for rears is a great compromise too. Laters, Jeff

Congrats on the new screen! I think you will be happy with the Da-Lite. I have a Da-Lite Model C just basic white and a good buddy of mine has a Model C Video Spectra. They are both manual pulldown models. The Video Spectra is very close to the screen you chose. I think you will be very happy with it. Laters, Jeff

Many good ideas here. I would suggest trying a tatic that has been used by some people and that is pointing your Hersey's into the corner or at the back wall. This way you will see the backs of the speakers but it does produce a less direct sound and you will not have the horns pointing right at you. As long as you balance the system correctly using a dB meter the loudness of this setup should match the rest of your system. Also I would not worry about hanging a Heresy on the wall. There are many ways to do that safely. Heck I have a Cornwall hanging above my TV with no issues. Laters, Jeff

Agree with 100% with Zektor box. I love it. As a bonus it will even convert optical to coax digital and vise versa. Laters, Jeff

That's a totally new one on me! I stand corrected. Does it say HIP II somewhere on the speaker? Yup [] Here ya go. Again this is before I repainted it. Also although it does not show up that well in the above picture, there is a metal grate in the speaker grill that protects the woofer. Laters, Jeff

Here is a picture of the HIP-II that I use as the center channel with my 6.1 all Hersey system. It is awesome at vocal clarity so it makes a perfect center channel. I have painted the cabinet with black lacquer finish. Let me know if you have any questions about the sound. Laters, Jeff

OT....careful, contagious post here...

Yup when I was younger (as in 8ish) I had a strep colony living in my throat so I got it all the time. The good part of it was that I am now very resistant to it and similar "stuff". It is not pleasent...take the drugs and listen to the tunes! Laters, Jeff -

Important Pilgrimage Message!
eq_shadimar replied to Amy's topic in Forum Meetup Planning + Past Klipsch Pilgrimages
Sorry to say that I will not be able to make it either. I just found out eariler this week that I am required to attend our "Disaster Recovery" Session in MN during those dates. Laters, Jeff -
I have tried them all and I currently have 2 Heritage surround systems. An all Hersey 6.1 for the front projection room and an all Cornwall 5.2 system for my media/family room. In my opinion you will want to pick one and then get all the same speakers and make it work. If you are not worrried about listening to any HD surround music format (DVD-A or SACD) then you can get away with Cornwall fronts and Hersey surrounds as the bass management should take care of all the bass issues. I did run a Hersey center with the Cornwalls and it held up good for movies but not for high rez music. Laters, Jeff
