  1. The K-69 has a 2 inch throat and a 2.84 inch voice coil, while the TAD 4002 does have a 4 inch VC.Bruce
  2. fini, I'm ordering the dvd of this. I think most may not even begin to comprehend the techical aspect of this recording. It is simply amazing. Bruce
  3. Amy, My prayers go up for your father and your family. If you need support, thoughts, prayers, check out the Melanoma Research Foundation forum/website http://www.mpip.org/bb/bbindex.html you don't even need to create an accound. You will find great support there. Bruce
  4. My wife died from melanoma. Hardly ever in the sun, but had a serious sunburn in highschool. She is sure that that was what came back to haunt her. It's tough, very tough. Bruce
  5. If you don't weep over this... My heart breaks, when I read stories like this. I can't even begin to imagine why someone would do this. I really can't...
  6. The shadow falls almost exactly along the line of the horn. Very interesting.
  7. [Y] I had a great Panansonic 8 track in my 69 squareback. Had some H/K cabinets laying in the back. Awesome! The a.m. radio wouldn't have sounded very good at all. A micro wattage amp feeding a micro sized speaker. He'll get over it. I've listened to so live acoustic music through a new Bose p.a. system. It's not bad for what it is, actually sounded pretty good, but not for what it costs. Bruce
  8. I would love to try this Leica 50mm. It's a 0.95. Not exactly an aftermarket, but it is a bit pricey. http://en.leica-camera.com/photography/m_system/lenses/5915.html Michael - great shots and really great job on the lighting. That is what makes these images so great. Are you doing any photo jobs or have you totally given up on it?
  9. Dramatically strengthening the surrounds will change the compliance or stiffness, changing the tuning. If you have a small tear in the cone or surround, you can use some tissue paper (cigarette papers work as well), with a thinned mixture of Weldbond. That, won't change the compliance much at all, but you don't want to overdo it. I did both foam surrounds on a pair of JBL woofers, which were full of splits. Did it change them? Probably/maybe, but now they can be used and the owner is more than pleased with the fact that it cost about $5, and an afternoon of my time while I was doing something else. I had them out on the table, and would put some on, while drying I would do other work. Let them sit over night to make sure it was good and dry. Came out great.
  10. The Klipsch in-ceiling speakers are really good. We put them in some new classrooms and they sound great. Much better than anything else we have used. Plus, they aren't that expensive. Bruce
  11. I have an older G4 MacMini in our office. I can never tell if it is even on. It's very quiet.I have started to have a look at freeNAS, to build a storage server. Handle a lot of protocols for connectivity, and the whole OS is around 32M. Based on freeBSD. The options are endless.
  12. Max, I think you may find some folks still making tape for the ADAT recorders, which are basically SVHS tapes, but higher quality in the shell and tape construction.THey cost a little more than what you would get at the supermarket, but they were meant to go through a lot of start/stop/rewind cycles, as they were used the same as a multitrack tape machine would be used in the studio.. Bruce
  13. The caps need to be replaced, for sure. Not just the PS caps. It would be more time consuming than costly.
  14. That corner shot is excellent. With the out of focus depth of field on the left side, it is easy to see your icons. Nice colors too. Ian - the photography instructor at or school handed out shets of foam core and directions for building pinhole cameras. The students had to figure out hole sizes, blah, blah. They made some amazing pictures. Then they mixed up their own chemicals to do their other prints. They are awesome. The instructor says, correctly, that they will all be better photographers by learning traditional methods first, before they start to use digital cameras. Bruce
  15. Michael, The grill clothe is too busy for my tastes, but that's just me. My icons get lost in the weave...[*-)] My monitor is set at 1280x1024. Having the image centered, so there is no stratching or shrinking, this one doesn't look sharp. Most images look really good here at home. Bruce EDIT: oops.. the first one you showed at 1600x1200... I'll try some others
  16. I am recalling the scene in "Undercover Blues" with Morte in the tree at the zoo... iPods aren't cheap. plus you said other stuff. There is enough to make it worthwhile to the police. Mom will get the idea.
  17. So... my gf figured out what was going on. She had this happen before, and had forgotten about it. Chalk dust. No white boards and dry erase markers in the classrooms, just old fashioned chalk boards, which she doesn't normally clean herself. She did the other day, and had an awful reaction to the dust. She is pretty much back to normal, except for the usual Spring dust and pollen when she goes out running in the morning. Being in a city in China with a population of 4 million, the air isn't the best anyway. So she doesn't have the flu. [Y] I would love to know what is in the chalk... Bruce
  18. Nope... it was way in the past, when I was young and more stupid than now. The late '60s...Some blotter acid... I never had a bad time, though. Just intense. My story would still be to say - don't try it! Those were different times, and it really is a different world out there now. It isn't worth the risk (wasn't then either), whether legal or not.
  19. That just made me laugh out loud.It sorta makes me wonder if I want to work there... One of my benefits was free tuition for my kids. The youngest graduated from Valparaiso U. today (the tuition program worked at a whole lot of schools). So, in one sense, I don't need to be THERE. But right now I NEED to be there to help out the family. Don't worry Josh... I have your phone number if I still need to ask questions. [:$]
  20. I've got friends in Tasmania, who brought some whipping cream home to us one time. It was so thick before whipping that yyou had to squeeze it out of the carton. GOOD STUFF!
  21. Dave... I like your sig line. I did some four ways once...[:|]
  22. No connection means an open. A short would give atone on the continuity test. If checking ohms, you would get close to zero ohms on a short.Except for the large number of screws invilved, you may want to get to the crossovers and loosen, then retighten all the connections. Doesn't cost anything but time. Bruce
  23. Craig, I have one of those, and have found it to be excellent.
  24. Max, I believe most video recorders used an fm system, to get you a 20-20k signal. It was put down as a linear track on the edge of the tape.Tthe audo quality is actually pretty good. A young man at a church I once attended had a couple mic preamps he built, feeding a nice Sony deck. He recorded a lot of the church's music events with PZMs and his vcr. A pcm track for audio was only a 32Khz sample rate, i think. Alesis took he idea of helical scan recording and made an 8 track digital audio recorder, where the scans contained the audo data. A LOT of albums got made on those things. You could sync multiple units for mroe tracks. I know, bbecause I still have mine. 8 tracks of 20 bit audio on the equiv. of an S-VHS tape. Sorry for ur hijack, Dave. Bruce
