  1. artto, you will still need your mixer or preamps. I would look into better mic pre's than what comes on the Mackie. There are lots of choices, either tube or ss, not considered boutique, but would cost more than the Mackie by itself. A good mic pre can make you think you just bought very expensive mics.
  2. Prima Luna, designed in the Netherlands, built in China. Many companies products are done that way. I think Jolida is probably manufactured in China as well. I think Gil pointed out one time that you can get a John Deere piece of equipment. A US company but built overseas, or (now I can't remember for sure) Kubota, built in the US by an overseas company. I have an acquaintance who put out a book on all the Rock City barns. They had it printed in Belgium. It was cheaper to send everything there, fly someone to check the proofs as they came off the press, print it and send it back to the States. The quality is superb.
  3. She is working in Nanchang, about a 13 hour train ride north of Hong Kong. One of her students had the sniffles and was looking at her new cell phone, so she is thinking it's a cold. Over 12 hours into the symptoms and no fever. She lives in an apartment on the campus where she works, and I told her to go to the school clinic in the morning. She'll have to find someone to translate for her, though, which is a real problem. Since she's 12 hours ahead of us me time wise, it's 7:30 a.m. there. Marvel says she set's them off anyway so that would not be anything unusual for her ! dtel understands pretty well. [Y][Y][Y][Y][Y] [] EDIT: Just got offline with her. She was up this morning and went jogging. Hasn't had a fever at all. Occasional cough, stuffy/runny nose. Looks to be a cold with possible allergies kickin' in. We'll see how her day goes, while I go to sleep. This 12 hour time diff. is rough.
  4. My gf was in Hong Kong last weekend, and is now having the runny nose, achy arms and joints. No fever yet. She's pretty healthy, but she is also in the middle of China and the health care is... different.
  5. The answer is probably no, given your price and technical specifications. Buying only US made will also knock out a bunch of great sounding Klipsch gear.
  6. I use Thunderbird for my email, and everything is in the inbox as a text file. So I open peculiar emails in a text editor I have.If they are too weird, I delete them. It has kept me from deleting one from a friend since he put no subjet in it and I didn't recognize the address. BUT... this one I wouldn't bother... just delete. Bruce
  7. I would think... being from Australia, he would know about VegaMite...Thebes, you are great. Just read your post about painting the past veep's house. Laughed soooo hard. (aren't you glad he's outa office now...?)
  8. I understand very well. My wife passed away in Dec. 2005. Almost 3 1/2 years ago, now. Very hard to believe, yet life continues, even if we aren't ready for it. Hang out here and talk about cars... talk about audio. It doesn't matter. We miss your dad, for sure. He would want us to be enjoying what God has given us.Bruce
  9. You can only access the cabinet by removing the woofer from the front.
  10. The HII is crossed at 700Hz and 6000Hz. The newer HIII moves the bass to mid up and dropps the mid to tweeter a bit. I think the original is the same as the HII. Why would you want to get rid of the woofer? These aren't big speakers by a long shot. If you want no bass, you should put these in the closet and buy some Bose. Once you come to your senses, hook your Heresies back up.
  11. We are only putting in Klipsch in our media equipped classrooms. We still have some Bose in a few, but will upgrade when the money is available. The Klipsch sound very good, and don't require much power for a conference/classroom setting. The JBLs can't have sound too bad, I would think. We had some of those in the cafeteria, and they worked pretty well. They got replaced with some EV models (I was not inthe loop) Bruce
  12. I have updated a few PCs at work, with no problems at all. We use software that is a front end for an Oracle database, and some of the forms don't work well in other browsers. IE8 has been fine..
  13. I was thinking after I posted, that someone would be having fun. It was either you or fini. []
  14. I believe the "S" in the serial number would indicate 1978. Attached is the dating format. Bruce klipsch_SN_format.pdf
  15. and the three port. You would have to make suitablechanges for the new midhorn.
  16. If you are building from scratch... these may be helpful.
  17. I think I have heard his LaScalas playing Marie Osmond... al the way down here in North Geogia...[*-)]
  18. So.... what's the address of this store? I'm just kidding... but itmust be a great place to drop in. Bruce
  19. One of my co-workers got one as a Christmas present last year and he loves it. He wouldn't have spent the money himself, but it was a gift from his sister. You can put in annotations, but by typing them. They really are pretty cool. He loads in a bunch of books when he goes off for the weekend. They certainly have enough available that it is beyond the gimmick stage. Wireless connection and you don't have to pay for it. You can email your own documents to it to have available...
  20. The JBL Century's came with it? I have to ask how much...?
  21. You always seem to surprise me, in a good way, I like that pic of you and your sweet spot. Thanks for the comment... we could certainly use your prayers. Maybe not polictically correct, but I ask anyway. It's hard when your love is on the other side of the world. She is very sweet, too.
  22. These come back to haunt us now and then... [:|]
  23. The P.Audio BMD750 driver is the exact same driver that Klipsch uses as their K69. Those who have bought the commercial versions of the Klipsch Jubilee (535), often use this driver on the K402 horn in a two way setup. Most are using an active crossover, although some have built passives. I'm not sure where they cross... Some are using TAD drivers, although the cost goes up significantly. Others are using the K402 horn with MWM bass bins in a two way config. Bruce
  24. I am disturbed that '49' is old...[:^)]
