  1. When you live in the area, it doesn't suck. And it doesn't seem too humid either. Give me a break - are you saying that Mississippi or Louisiana isn't humid in the summer? [bs] [] Bruce
  2. Woo- where have you been? Haven't seen you around here much. Bruce
  3. Maybe is has to do with "better living through chemistry". I couldn't stand to have my hair that long now, and there isn't enough of it left.
  4. I could probably be counted in on a gathering in the South too. I'm just a few miles south of Chattanooga. Let's see, John Albright is in Chattanooga, and might be interested. I would be willing to haul the Moondogs out for some low level listening, if there was any interest. Bruce
  5. Uh, yeah, like this is from 1972 if I remember correctly.
  6. You noticed that too huh. Pretty obvious, I guess. I don't suppose he would mail it to both of us.
  7. If someone will get me (Marion?) a good sized straight on shot of those Jubs, I'll do the frame around the 402 for you. Back away a little bit and not use a real wide angle, so there isn't much distortion and it will be pretty easy to make edit. Bruce
  8. When I painted the transformers on my dynacos, I used a semi gloss heat resistant paint from Ace hardware. I was really happy with the results. I like the look of the black, and since I had replaced the power tranny, I wanted them all to match. Bruce
  9. Your browser caches your previous sites, not the site you are visiting.
  10. Agreed, and I really think the Merlin is a sleeper, very good but off the radar. If it catches on, Mark might feel compelled to raise the price. [] I love mine. Now I just need to get his phono pre. Bruce
  11. IIRC, there have been some pics posted of those earlier models with the doghouse rotated to the horizontal position. One of the awful things about that desing was that the access hatch is quite visible on the side of the cabinet. Not a very polished look, and would receive a low WAF. Bruce
  12. I think more than anything, it has to be someone reputable. Rumours abound of places which tell you that it will be great for you, when in fact, it may not be. They are only doing it for the money. A coworker of mine had this done a few years ago, and has loved it. He traveled to Atlanta to get his done, and has been very satisfied with it. He also gets to go back to do corrective touch ups (enhancements as Todd mentioned, but in a more positive light), because your eyes will still change over time. I think he is in his mid 50s. He spends all day working on a PC, dealing with spreadsheets, etc. I don't think he has has a problems with his surgery at all. I am currently using trifocals, and find them to just be awkward, no matter which lens I am using. We have insurance that will cover most of the cost of glasses and exams, so I can get a new pair every two years. My out of pocket expense is pretty low, but I am still considering having the procedure done. Bruce
  13. Pat, Hadn't made one of that model. I putzed around long enough to get as much done as I did. Do you have a pair of those? If you do, that box is ideal for DJK's ported version to lower the bass response of the LS. It could get you flat to almost 30 Hz. A slight loss in efficiency takes place, but only slight. Bruce
  14. I came across some guy a couple of years ago who actually used a photo copy or scanned and printed output of an lp, then read the info off the printout and turned it back into music. Sounded like do-do, but it did actually work. Lots of hiss and other noise. I never kept track of the project, to see if he improved it in any way. Bruce
  15. I still want to get a model of the K33, the horn and other drivers, so I can insert them into my exploded LS drawing.I need to add the cross piece in the back as well. I should make a new one that models the LSII. Bruce
  16. I've got a very defunct Hallicrafters SX62 out in my storage barn. That thing is very, very complex inside. I just don't have the will to get it working. It has a single 6V6 audio amplifier stage in it. More metal in it than my car, too. Bruce
  17. It is hard to find the balance betweens living for tomorrow and the long haul while at the same time being prepared for it to all end in the next minute. It's all by His Grace we breathe our next breath anyway. Peace Bruce
  18. Don't you need a reference to compare your designs to? [8-)]
  19. Rick, That gear is something to be proud of and you certainly don't need to apologize for any of it. Must have been a blast at the party. If I had to buy what I have as new equipment, I would still be listening to a crystal radio. I got most of my stuff over a long period of time. Bruce
  20. I had a solenoid on my Teac 3340S that was incredibly sticky. I used some kind of degreaser on it and flushed out the junk, and then lubed it up again. Worked fine after that. I imagine the degreaser is not on anyones "good for the environment" list, but it sure did the job. Dave- hope my pm wasn't too much to handle. Things are really ok. Bruce
  21. I would certainly hope the Jubilee bass is a lot better than the La Scala. Even though I can't afford them, I would still like to hear them sometime. Lisa- you do want these and you know it. Two way systems should be much more coherent, if the drivers do what they are supposed to do and the levels are matched, this should be rather unbeatable. Bruce
  22. The 'dogs actually rock pretty well. I don't usually drive them that way, but my older son has on occasion, and he says they do ok. James, I have been wondering if you wish you had kept the Moondogs? I really like them a lot. Bruce
  23. I have one of the IBM laptops, purchased while the change was taking place. I love it. Bruce
