  1. The worst paring in Mac and LaScalas?? no no, my experience is Mac is the top, but most wont spend the money, that being said, Pioneer is next, just my opinion after 35 years of buying selling and trading
  2. OP, the sound you are looking for with those LaScala's can be found with any of the big Pioneer SX receivers. I have two sets of Scala's as well as nearly all the other Heritage lineup, and over the years have tried pretty much all the amps mentioned and several more, for some reason the pioneer's just sound better than anything other than Mcintosh. If you were close you could barrow one and see for yourself, you can also run your serius satellite through them as I have one hooked up that runs 24-7 in the shop. Look for sx 950/980 1050/1080 etc, the sound of this combination, well I cant find anything better...Roost
  3. guys, how would these be in a music only situation ? I have a bud looking for a pair, thanks, Roost
  4. where do yall see what he paid for them (3128 ?) and where do you see the feedback for them ? they remind me of a set of Norman labs with the beautiful wood
  5. that's an insane price on what looks to be a near mint 1250, thing is worth a grand all day long, I've seen nice ones bring that that don't even work, a fully resto one could go for 2k
  6. ^^^^^for 600 bucks they better be, that's a steal
  7. hey Doc, look for a good ole Pioneer receiver, your Klipsch will love it, SX850/880, SX950/980, depending on how much you wanna spend. PM me and I will help if you need any advise on Pioneer's, I think the only thing with better sound than Pioneer silver is McIntosh. I have all the SX's and all the Klipsch Heritage except the K's and I'm looking at a set, also if your gonna run Heresy's as mains you'll more than likely need a sub as they were meant as a center...Roost
  8. Bill, is 475 a great deal ? I mean what did that unit sell for new ? I have been buying all the Kyocera 710's I can find, they sold for around 1500 but I really love the way they match my old pioneer receivers with the silver front and wood sides. 40lb cdp is a beast for sure...Roost
  9. Comparison ? There is none, and hard to believe the used prices are in the same ballpark
  10. I have an MC 7150 with a MX 113 Pre, have had it hooked to LaScala's, Chorus ll's, Forte ll's and Hersey's. It is a fantastic ss amp, I don't see a 7150 for sale very often but when I do their pricey, if you can get a deal on one I wouldn't hesitate. Mine is a 95 I believe so it's not really that old, but I'm fixing to have it gone through...Roost
  11. I'm not sure some of the info is correct, I heard 75 mill for one tour of 6 months, makes much more sense. What's being reported is 300 million, which is more than he has accumulated in his entire working life of nearly 50 years, only a fool would do that, and he's no fool. I think it true that he cant hit the high's anymore, and that he does not want to do a Zep tour, even though the 02 was a smash. But I guarantee that if told he could double his net worth by doing a 6 month Led Zep tour he would be all over it, 50 mill a month, yea he'd do it. I have a really good source...Roost
  12. they are really clean, should sound great with that Sui, the passive means placement very important
  13. good job man, I think you will be surprised, what are you gonna push em with ? they love solid state, Carl these are close to the ones you had no ?
  14. fwiw I just had my 1280 gone through by Save on Sound in Houston, Japanese guy that's been doing it for 40 years, it worked and was mint to begin with, he spent roughly 20hrs on it and the cost was nearly 500 bucks. The list of stuff he did was long as my arm, circle stereo in Austin keeps an ad on ebay for restoring the 1250/1280's, in his ad he lists everything he does, I printed it and brought it with me to Houston to show the guy, he does pretty much the exact same thing, check it out, its unreal what all they do. He now has my 1080 and after that I will bring him my 1250, all work and are in mint condition to start with, I would take a PROPERLY restored big Pioneer over anything that's out there new, mated with Klipsch Heritage I have found nothing that sounds better, maybe McIntosh...Roost
  15. these would make great outdoor party speakers, cant let em get wet though
  16. Guy's that's a smoking deal, it needs to be gone through weather it works or not anyway, shipping worries me though, its heavy. I have both 12's, they are super strong, imo its hard to top one, and I have some Mac gear too, this pioneer brought up to spec will hang with anything. I highly recommend somebody get this puppy, look how great a shape its in !! bet its a simple fix...Roost
  17. Tell that to Esoteric. They have been building them that way for years and though it may be a niche market, they still have customers to buy there $$$$$ players. Like this 68 lbs monster. Bill man that's beautiful, wish I could throw 4 grand down on one
  18. Jimbo, maybe Brady Hoak bought em, he's listening to a lot of music these days I guess cuz he's sure not doin any coaching...Roost
  19. thanks Michael, Scrap just called and we worked it out, good that forum members stick together and keep stuff in the family, hate to see a good receiver like this fall into the wrong hands lol...Roost
  20. I emailed him with my phone number, waitin for a call
  21. Thanks Carl for the help. Scrap, consider that puppy sold man, I am sending you an email at the address in your profile, let me know if it don't go through...Roost
  22. I cant wait, they will be paired with LaScala"s and powered by a pioneer SX1280 that was just completely restored. These subs are something to behold in person, we will get them black this week, we hired a bass playin painter to finish them out, pics to soon follow...Roost
