  1. I hear ya Bonzo. Went through the same feeling when FedEx screwed up my 4520 twice. Both of the first 2 times I took off early from work and had unhooked my old Yamaha so that everything was ready for the 4520. Then twice I had the frustration of a mishandled and destroyed piece showing up. The last time I didn't bother to leave work, didn't even unbox the unit for a few days and really wasn't expecting to even want to keep it anymore. But, once I hooked it up and got all the setup done the excitement came back. More than anything it's probably the hassle factor and disappointment of having to wait again that's causing the "thrill to be gone." I bet if you stick it out and get the new one it'll come back. I hope it gets resolved soon for you.
  2. That is a hilarious review/trailer! "Wait they can't even kill Sean Bean right?" Lol
  3. Smart move!! My previous house was a really, really, really nice house. I got an amazing deal on it due to the crash of the housing market. However, it did not have a single room that worked for Klilpschorns. In fact, a couple of rooms even had round corners with about a 6' radius, but despite that there really wasn't a single room with two good corners. The plan was to eventually build a proper room, but I ended up moving without ever getting to that point. After a few years without my system -- and for the most part without music, I started to realize how much that affected me negatively. For my next home search, I wasn't going to allow that to happen again. I was going to make sure to get a house that had the room with the proper corners and would not allow a situation where I would have to build an addition again, because last time it didn't happen even after a few years and knew well enough that there was a good chance that would happen again. Well, my patience has finally paid off. I just purchased a house with a nice room that has all the right corners! Got the keys yesterday. Yes, this made my home search very difficult and drove my wife crazy because so many very nice houses had to be bypassed because they did not have "My Room," but she knew how important it was to me and was willing to stick it out. Not only am I happy, but she is also very happy knowing that we got a house that works for all of us. Hopefully you'll also be able to find what you're looking for. Great story! And congrats Paul for keeping the khorns!
  4. I know you're not happy, and rightfully so, but I give full props to the driver for man'ing up and taking responsibility. His apology was the right thing to do. Agreed. While I'd still be frustrated, that's a nice gesture on his part.
  5. Fair point. Knock on wood, I've had decent luck with FedEx, UPS, and USPS. The only thing that I did have trouble with was my Denon 4520. FedEx found a way to damage 2 separate units before the last one finally arrived in perfect shape. The first one they damaged the found a way to completely shred the foam packing cartons, and puncture through a double box to leave a pretty big dent in the unit. Curiously, it wouldn't power up...
  6. This thread is an interesting read. I'm one of those with both...mainly for listening at night so as not to wake up the house. I do enjoy the clarity and separation in my AKG K702s, but I also love cranking up my CF-3's when I can too. I'd lean toward my CFs, just for the sound stage and (for lack of a better word) slam. I listen to a lot of rock and really like the "feel" that I get from the speakers (not sure if that makes any sense). I've had a few Senheisers and other cans, but the 702s have been my favorite so far and I do really enjoy listening to them as well. Interested to see how the thread progresses though, thanks for bringing it up Joe!
  7. Nice review and I completely concur. The PS4 is a fine machine for gaming, but it is a disappointing Blu-ray player. Sony obviously wanted the PS3 to be a "media console", but very clearly decided against the PS4 being the same. In most respects, the Blu-ray capability is an afterthought on the PS4. There have been several updates to the PS4 firmware since release, but in over 18 months, there has been next to none that address the Blu-ray piece. As you said, there isn't even a workable remote for it after a year and a half. Like you, switching to a standalone player was a very noticeable upgrade and I've not regretted it at all. In fact, the decision is reinforced every time I watch a Blu-ray or listen to a disc. Glad I'm not the only one that is less than impressed with the PS4 in the Blu-ray department.
  8. Congrats on the sale Alex...someone got a great set of speakers!
  9. Welcome to the club...I think that can be said about most of us. I'm with most of the others, I wouldn't recommend mixing and matching between reference premiere and heritage. Scrappy asks a good question though, what is your end goal? Are you looking to build out to 5.1 surround?
  10. Agreed...I use my copy of it to "show off" too along with '77 concert Blu-ray. The '77 concert isn't as good as Farewell, but I love Take It To The Limit with Randy Meisner singing and Hotel California with Walsh and Felder is awesome.
  11. Now that is a helpful review... Guess I'll stick with my Monoprice cables!
  12. Just a thought, but if you have 2 RS 3's right now, a single RS 3ii, and are finding pairs of RS 3's for sale, why not sell the single that you have and buy one of the pairs?
  13. That's a great concert! Watched the '77 Hotel California Tour that's included with the History of the Eagles...another good disc.
  14. Somebody really needs to scoop these up. Very nice price for all that's been done.
  15. Enjoyable movie with excellent sound quality.
  16. That is a beautiful car!
  17. Seems the little girl found another group of Chicago voters though...down 31 votes... Quite a turn from last night...
  18. Was thinking similarly about my own. I had planned for the next upgrade to be an amp to power the fronts, but the 4520 has driven everything without any issues. I may still try an amp on the mains, but I think a subwoofer upgrade will come first.
  19. Yeah, plus he's working the "make my kids wish come true" angle too. Back to one behind though.
  20. Olympus Has Fallen Popped it in after I missed most of it on TV. Enjoyable show and the SQ is solid.
  21. Weird...it let me vote from my phone yesterday and today...both over cell network. Interesting...
