  1. I think the better option in this case would be to use a slant riser, similar to what the Heresy uses. this way, you keep as much of the bass as possible and still feed your tier 2 seating. I hadn't really given much thought to floor coupling until i had my KPT684 Sub. I think the standard use for this is to stand it up, and face it towards your seating. In fact the best performance i got out of mine was to lay it down on its side, radiators facing the wall. I adjusted the distance from the wall to find the sweet spot is bass sound. Using the Floor coupling and wall, dont overlook it...
  2. Im a little late on this thread, but earlier on, i see that B&W, paradigm dont sound as good. the guys are right, its all about what sounds good to you. Now having said that, my opinion is that its all in the horns...the only thing better than horns is bigger horns. Forte is a solid performer. i'd love to own a pair.
  3. I was just going to jump in on the F20, Tuba or tapped horn. Depends if your a DIY'er or not. I cant wait to start my build. I just have a little more drywall and mud to get done before the snow fly's, and a little outdoor painting. Yeah, thats right...soon it will be snowing here...
  4. 402 on Jubs is killer. Its like nothing i've ever heard before. the first time i heard the 402, and 510 i found the sound very revealing. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but i heard things i've never heard before(not the voices in my head). I too have not quite dialed in my passive, but i'm almost there. There just so crisp. Good stuff, you'll be very happy with that purchase....
  5. Awesome stuff, its coming along nicely.
  6. I'm sure there are cheaper recone kits as well. If it was me, i'd recone them,, no one would see the patch job, but i'd know it was there. IF your going to keep them for a long time, its better to do it right, you'll be happier in the end.
  7. no kidding, Bose does 15Hz in that little box they got....lol.
  8. Guys, how about this? would this work? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Klipsch-K48-K-Woofer-Recone-Kit-/300764660757?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4606f88415#ht_500wt_969
  9. There is absolutely nothing below 45 Hz or so on a La Scala. And Box subs, that dig real deep tend to have larger volumes(cubic feet). This changes if you have a passive involved. Even the better horn loaded subs are Large as well. Take a Tuba for example. the Best performance you will get from a Tuba sub is by making it wider with a larger driver. Check out the KPT884, single 18 inch driver, with huge volume(as in cubic ft). KPT684, has two 18 inch drivers with less volume(cubic ft) and wont dig as deep as the 884. +1 for Subs
  10. Thats great stuff....I can just hear it now. [Y]
  11. what happened to "For better or for Worse?"
  12. [Y] I dropped Jubs in my livingroom. received the delivery, and set them up while my wife was at work.. Wife sees them and says, "you've got to be kidding me". Few days in the dog house and your good to go. Sometimes its better to beg or forgiveness. Drop the Fotre's in the living room and tell her if they dont match, we may have to redecorate around them.
  13. I wouldnt paint them. i'd start the negotiations...
  14. What about a dab or two of Crazy glue? not alot, just enough so the thread doesnt pull back?
  15. Im not trying to stear you away from buying new gear. I like new gear, and the only way klipsch will survive is if we buy new gear. with that being said, you can get used Heritage speakers for the same price as the HIII new.
  16. Well, i followed most of it during the build. i skimmed it again and finally printed my plans.
  17. Agree totally...Dennie, i think we need to be more persuasive here...hang on... there we go, Buy the Dang Cornwall's or else....
  18. The HIII is a nice unit but ugh on the MDF. I'd buy the HII, and save some cash[Y]. Either way, HII or HIII, You'll be very happy with the sound. There very close in sound. there is also an HIII upgrade kit for the HII.
  19. That sounds ideal. they way it should be, nice... you know, every time i turn around, there's someone that has a Tuba sub...i going to build mine soon. i bought the plans about a year ago...and printed them today. right on top of the game here...[Y]
