  1. I have had a pair of KP456 with 'refreshed' x-overs for a while and just this week put them back into my main listening room. I would love to go to active networks for the same as you. What did you end up using?
  2. I have three 301s. One has the metal grill and no foam and the remaining pair are cloth grills. Hope you're having a great vacation.
  3. I don't believe that it's a lack of interest. As you know. this site used to be full of fun people who were knowledgeable and helpful, now it's not and we know why. I would love to have and hear your system. GLWYS.
  4. A magician was working on a cruise ship. Since the audience was different each week, the magician did the same tricks over and over again. There was only one problem: The captain's parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the Magician did every trick. Once he understood, he started shouting in the middle of the show, "Look, it's not the same hat!" or, "Look, he's hiding the flowers under the table!" Or "Hey, why are all the cards the ace of spades?" The magician was furious but couldn't do anything. It was, after all, the Captain's parrot. Then one stormy night on the Pacific, the ship unfortunately sank. The magician luckily found himself on a piece of wood floating in the middle of the sea, as fate would have it ... With the parrot. They stared at each other with hatred, but did not utter a word. This went on for a day... And then 2 days. And then 3 days. Finally, on the 4th day, the parrot could not hold back any longer and said... "Okay, I give up. Where's the ship??
  5. A country fellow is in line to see the magistrate for theft. As he's sitting in line for his turn he is struggling to figure how he can convince the judge of his innocence. As he gets closer to the front he listens to the two fellows in front of him: First defendant: "Your honor, I didn't steal this cow. I've had her since she was a calf, and she's my best milk cow." Judge: "Sounds reasonable, not guilty." Second defendant: "Your honor, I didn't steal this hunting dog. I've had her since she was a pup and she's my best friend and guard dog." Judge: "Sounds reasonable, not guilty." Our friend gets his turn: "Your honor, I didn't steal this wagon. I've had it since it was a wheelbarrow."
  6. I ran it on several speakers and never could warm up to the sound... the amp's sound wasn't warm at all.
  7. With several others listening too, I have compared ABC and D tweeters, that's why I have the extra drivers. Some were close, some stood out as a little better and one pair was so much better that they won hands down.
  8. It is an understatement to say that this place, sadly, has changed for the worse in the past few years. I had a Marantz PM8006. I wasn't overly impressed with its bass either. +1 on the HK 730 Twin. I have had one for a few years now.
  9. SOLD Cherry RB35 with Omnimount stands. They are in great condition, consecutively numbered, grills are perfect as are the drivers. I like these but I have too much equipment and I want more, so I need to make some space. I have had these for ~ 10 years. I like them, they sound great, and hate to let them go. $200, willing to make a trade / partial trade. The only things I am in the market for right now are Heresy 1, a good woman, and a track bike.. the motorcycle is at the top of the list.
  10. I good chance that it was nothing that you did or didn't do: it was broken before you touched it and that's why you weren't getting any sound from it, but had continuity. I would clean it well making sure that there is no debris in the area where the coil goes and replace the diaphragm making sure that the new one clears the walls freely.
  11. I had a single LaScala just like that one that was hooked to an organ in a church. The cabinet's black finish is the easiest to make look good again and coming from a church, it probably wasn't driven to its max every Friday and Saturday night... just guessing. The value / price is dependent on whether others want them too. They're worth what you're willing to give. I sold mine to Kirby, a former member on here.
  12. Tried two times to clear the formatting, but it still needs to be highlighted to be seen. Looks to be complete except for 2 pipes or something like that.

Console will be severed soon but not discarded as the space is needed. Buyer is responsible for removal. The church understands the cost of a removal, hence the low price. Estimated removal is 5 days which they also understand. We are an insured builder in Grand Rapids and can assist the buyer in removal with some of our crew. Scaffolding will be needed to get chests out. Only pipe damage appears to be the swell string basses that have collapsed and 2 are missing from bad metal and racking issues. Organ has not been releathered and is in original condition. Tonally the organ is typical for the builder and period. Removal from the sanctuary there are about 10 steps down to the ground from the front door.

  17. Randy, I am here to gain knowledge, help others, and enjoy what others share. Members using the ignore option would be very detrimental to others who are trying to gain facts. As with a lot of threads, you have a large number of posts, most of which are arguing and insulting many others who have, individually or combined, more experience and knowledge than me and or you... A lot of your entries contradict themselves (there is no resonance to how to fix the resonance) I was told that we have two ears, two eyes, and only one mouth, and it is not a mistake by God or Mother Nature. I learned a long time ago that: 1) I don't know it all and I learn from others if I listen 2) That I gain credibility when I admit when I am wrong (and sometimes that's not easy because I am not made of straw) Happy New Year to you, hope you're doing well.
  18. Back when I was chasing the numbers thinking there had to be a pattern, I read that overdamping could do exactly what you're saying. This morning, I talked with a friend about which vintage receivers and amps were supposed to be the best. I sent him a few forum threads and a list of what I like. I used to look for a wide spectrum on the Hz, high DF, and low THD, but everything I read said to stop all that and trust my ears (plus others' advice, such as the HK Twins). Here are a few I sent so you can see that the specs are all over the place, yet these are sought after for their quality of sound. https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/mcintosh/mc30.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/yamaha/cr-2040.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/sansui/g-9000.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/sx-1250.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/sx-1010.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/harman-kardon/730.shtml And last but not least (and one I wish I could enjoy for a while) https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/concept/165.shtml Even though we should trust our ears, they are easily tricked. I can hear when something sounds bad, but I second guess if it sounds like it is supposed to. I only trust my ears when ABing whatever I think sounds good.
