Until I ran across this thread I didn't realize he died years ago. Great voice!

Only 3? Diana Krall Norah Jones Blondie That's today, but it could be 3 others depending on whether I've listened to them in the last week.

I've watched the first two episodes. It's a little over the top and very stereotypical, but enjoyable.

I wanted to compare my Academy I have paired with my Forte II's with a KLF-C7. Unfortunately, I didn't compare them prior to replacing the stock tweeter diaphragm with a Crites titanium diaphragm. However, my impression of the stock tweeter diaphragm was that it did not have great high frequency extension and was not very sensitive. Well I placed the C7 on top of my Academy and went to work with a variety of material, both music and voices. I preferred to listen to movie voices since that is 90% of the center channels use in this setup. The two speakers sounded very similar below 1khz-2khz. I could not tell a difference between the two on male voices. There was a difference in the high frequency presences between the two. I imagine it has to do with the larger horn on the C7. The C7 definitely had more presences at the higher frequencies and also had that extra little sparkle with the titanium tweeter. I was presently surprised that the difference between the two speakers was very small and I could be happy with either. I am convinced that I will eventually replace the stock tweeters in my Heritage setup with the Crites tweeters. Just thought I would share my experience.

One classy lady! A wonderful person.

It would be a giant leap in SQ over your KLF's. That's just my opinion.

I wasn't aware of this site. I remember them selling on Ebay, but I didn't know they had their own site. I guess I need to mark it. Fortunately, the Heressy's are close by. I also saw an old pair of Paradigm Esprit Monitors from the early 90's

Here is a nice write-up on the Valencias. These speakers were home versions of the A7 and precursors to the Model 19's http://www.stereophile.com/content/listening-125#zeRqCoLAEXdVQRkJ.97

I refinished a pair about 10 years ago. It had the 416 mid/sub and 511 horns. I loved the speakers and even purchased a pair of Valencias trying to put together a full 5.1. They were just too big for the space I was going to use them in. I wish I still had photos of the cabinets I refinished. They had a dark cherry vinyl and straw grill cloth. The horn was mounted inside the cabinet.

Did you see the pair of La Scala's in Mobile for $250?

I need to choose a receiver worthy of my Klipsch speakers!

The Marantz is nice and the upper level Denon as well. In fact, Denon and Marantz are owned by the same company and do share designs in some of their receivers. -
Klipsch Reference IV RC-62 and RS-52 II's for Sale - SOLD

RC-62 SOLD -
It could be as simple as a bad soldering joint somewhere. I drove myself crazy once and narrowed it down to some soldering on an amp board. Simple fix once it was found. Have you swapped the right and left placement of the speakers to see if the issue remains? It sounds like the tweeter diaphragm is not to blame. The crossovers have been repaired/upgraded. It just seems like it is a connection or something in the chain prior to reaching the speaker.

Klipsch Reference vs. Klipsch Legend Center Channel Challenge
japosey posted a topic in Home Theater
So, today I was in the garage and was contemplating replacing my Martin Logan system in the living room with a Klipsch system. I love my Heritage setup in my media room and have wanted to replicate it in the living room. The Martin Logan Motion system I currently have is a really good sounding system however it doesn't have that midrange sensitivity that I've grown to love with my Fortes. The folded ribbon tweeter is really nice. It provides an airy depth in a quiet room. My living room is anything but quiet with a wife and 2 kids. What I've found ,is that I really have to turn the volume up for them to sound great and engaging. They aren't near as sensitive as Klipsch speakers are. With that said, I planned to put together a Reference setup with speakers from 5-10 years ago. I had purchased a center and then a pair of surrounds. Then I ran across a KLF-C7 on CL yesterday. So, that brings me to today. I hooked up the RC-62 and the KLF-C7 to a receiver and placed them side by side in mono. I would turn the balance all the way to the right to listen to the RC-62 and then all the way left to the C7. I listened to the two speakers for probably an hour going back and forth. Here is what I noticed: First, I would say surprised at how similar they sounded overall. The Reference series speaker seem to extend higher and the tweeter was definitely crisper due to the titanium. Additionally, it had greater midbass punch due to it being a ported design. The C7's midrange really stood out to me and the speaker seemed to have a smoother overall presentation. I finally choose the the KLF over the Reference speaker due to the midrange clarity. The Reference speaker's excitement tended to overpower it's midrange. Whereas the C7 produced the singer upfront and center, the RS-62 really pulled the band and instruments to the forefront. Listening to both, you could tell even though they were different they both were designed with Klipsch's principals in mind. -
I had a change of plans and have elected to go the route of KLF's over a Reference system and now need to unload a couple of items I just purchased. Everything is in excellent shape, but the center channel has some scuffs on one side due to the previous owner storing it on its side during a move. The surrounds are perfect and I just picked them up off of Ebay this week. I'm selling them for what I have in them. I just received them and haven't even opened the box. The pics are from the auction listing. RC-62 $175 RS-52 II $410

I don't know. I've never heard them, but apparently they do perform very well and were produced to compete with the internet brands.
