  1. Hi. Not sure of the protocol, but if anyone is interested in a KV-4 center channel in Phoenix, here is a link to a CL adv. I have a KV-4 and love it, BTW. Here's the link: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/ele/4523719158.html Hope someone is able to jump on it; seems like a good price and condition. Please let us know if anything good happens . . . .
  2. Cradeldorf, Glad you are happy. I agree w/ ChuckAb3's comment though. And, I love my KLF 30s and 20s just the way they are. They provide enormous pleasure; but each to his own . . . .
  3. Followup: I took a look at your equipment, and it seems you need no input or opinion from me!
  4. Hi, Jim in Indiana, To your question: 1) I am no expert, and there are many here, 2) so, my "average ears" may be part of the answer you are looking for, 3) I have no experience with the Heritage line, and 4) I do own 30s (fronts) and 20s (surrounds). I absolutely love the great power, balance, range, and clarity that I think I hear. They look, feel, and sound very solid! Further, their sensitivity makes the wattage of a receiver a less critical and limiting factor than what faces many listeners with their equipment. It may horrify some to hear here (ha ha), but I do not count how many angels can dance on the head of a pin--or apply that same level of precision to my appreciation or my analysis of HT or musical perfection--so I need to be excused from a highly technical discussion/evaluation. That all said, they sound fantastic! It would be hard for me to imagine that you would not enjoy them greatly. And, if the wanderlust bug hits in the future, you will have a whole other adventure, and you can marvel at how much your knowledge and sophistication have grown as that process plays out--until the next bug hits. As for me, who knows, I may re-purpose them upon my death, and be set out to sea in them . . . . Good luck, Jim in St. Louis
  5. Actually, I am here in St. Louis. I did look into both of these (the original $100 listing plus this 2nd posting by the pawn shop), having been put on to the $100 speakers by an alert and kind Member here. The pawn shop listing preceded the $100 listing. The $100 listing was simply for 2 "Heresy" speakers--whereas, the $600 is for "Heresy II"-- and were shown stacked, in a private residence photo. I think that they simply went (as would be expected) very fast (listed Saturday, delisted by Sunday morning). No phone #, simply email reply offered. Ah, yes, the ones "that got away".
  6. Scrappy, Sending you a PM--hope I do it right, ha ha.

    WOW 60 today

WOW 60 today Belated Happy Birthday, from one mariner to another. Not "RET", as was in 5 years (1968-1973). Watch an old "Victory At Sea" film and enjoy each of your days.
  8. Kain, that is what I have seen and read repeatedly, too. I observe the rule (perhaps, as much because it is possible in my space, as much as because it may be the "correct" thing to do). Like many "rules" it may be generally applicable (and advisable), however, not to say that it is inviolable! Good listening!
  9. Hello, Kyle, Not an "expert", either. However, I do have 30s as my fronts, and 20s as my surrounds. Sitting on the floor, all toed in. I think they sound fantastic, too, as you have mentioned, a bit farther back, "enveloping" sound, rather than at all times identifiable by its sound location. This may betray me as not a purist, or something, but they (and the KV-4 center) do sound soooooo good!
  10. Yup, great speakers! Have the 30s as my fronts, and 20s as surrounds. KV4 center, and I think they sound wonderful. Large room, high ceiling . . . . Hey, a question re the 30s and 20s for anyone with knowledge about this: specifically, I have a 7.1 Pioneer SC-35 AVR (rated at 140 watts per channel). It seems that for the sound to be really "adequate" (as in able to overcome minor room distractions, sometimes hard-to-understand English accents, etc.), I find that I need to turn the volume to about -28 or even to -23. Does that seem normal/correct? Any suggestions about what might be a worthwhile improvement? Thanks.
  11. I know. Maybe this is the next generation of the virus.
  12. SCAM ALERT! This is the same photo and serial #s offered by "Gregoryolvin(at)gmail.. .. .. .. .." on CL in St. Louis. For $120! Is it too much to hope that these low-lifes get the justice that they deserve?
  13. Probably well after the fact, but, my OPINION, anyway. I have 30s as my mains, and 20s as my surrounds, w/ the KV-4 center. I think the KV-4 sounds fantastic and is very well matched w/ the KLF-30s and KLF-20s! Now, I do not claim to have the experience or the knowledge of many of the posters here (and probably not the trained ear of some), but, as they say, "The perfect is the enemy of the (even) extraordinarily good." For those compelled to accommodate some compromise and seize an opportunity, you can still be very happy!
  14. Should have gone to Edroom.
  15. jweber, Just did the exact same thing about 4 weeks ago. Trip about 8 hours, though. And, yes, the 30s are worth every bit of the effort! Well done. Some "purists" here have urged me to change out my KV-4 center for the C7, but I am just fine with the setup now (esp. having purchased the KV-4 for $150).
  16. Scrappy, Thanks for checking out. I was about to call/drive to purchase--for resale, ha ha.
  17. Thanks for the obviously correct answers! Why I did not think of it myself . . . . Oh, well, what is it they say that cannot be fixed? Evidently, the specs and performance of that sub are very satisfying to users. A thought I have, given the fact that the manufacturer is no longer in business, is if/when a woofer or board go out, would I be likely to find an aesthetically pleasing and technically matched replacement on the aftermarket for the dysfunctional part? Or, is it likely that I would be better off ($-wise) starting over with another sub or NEW sub?
  18. Hello, again—experts and people with opinions, too! Have another question--regarding the meaning and impact of amplifier power in a sub, and as part of a system. Specifically (as shown in my profile), my current HT system consists of a Pioneer Elite SC-35 receiver, Klipsch KLF-30 L/R, KLF-20 surrounds, a KV-4 center, and a Synergy Sub-10. Am looking to improve the bass performance, so am looking at a used Elemental Designs A5-350 Subwoofer, if I am able to get it at a good price. So, all my speakers are 8 ohm presently. Evidently, the A5-350 is 4 ohm. I do not wish to stress my receiver. The Specs identify the receiver as: “Consumes 330W, continuous average power output of watts 140, min., at 8 ohms . . . .” What do you think about the 8 ohm or 4 ohm thing? Would I be creating a "problem", or have some sort of mismatch? Thank you again for your contributions, and I look forward to all of them!
  19. I bought a pair in excellent condition here in Missouri last year for $250. I felt like it was a steal!. I love listening to them (am adding the 30s in a few days).
  20. billybob, sorry, not sure I understand the question. I was responding to a response/comment by opusk2k9, as he was online at that time. Was interested in any further comments he might have to amplify his last post. I am talking about picking up another pair of 30s, than those in CA, in the original post.
  21. Hi, Opusk2k9, Just happened on your comments, as I did a search for KLF-30s. I am picking up a pair of 30s in a few days. It so happens that a couple of days ago I created a thread (my first as a Forum member) asking the opinions of members on the subject you touched on: the (real) need for a sub, if I have the 30s as my mains, 20s as my surrounds, and a KV-4 as my center. As I mentioned in my post, I have not the ear, budget, or attitude (95%+ is quite good enough for me) to pursue superb sound. I have a KSW10 sub now, but given the frequency range and sensitivity of the speakers, I was hoping for a "real world" discussion. Virtual unanimous response was to use a sub (though, it appears, bigger and badder than mine). Hence my interest in your (offhand?) comment. Am interested in any further thoughts/experience you may have along those lines. Am not looking to be "right", but really will appreciate more relevant knowledge.
  22. Thanks, all, for your comments. Have a further question for all of those who are "technically" inclined: Given the Pioneer receiver I mentioned, plus the frequency ranges of the KLF speakers and the KV-4 center, plus their sensitivity ratings, what additional should I be looking for from my/a sub?
  23. Scrappydue, yes, it is the OP seller. Am somewhat surprised because last time the listing came down within hours. The listing still is up at this moment . . . .
  24. Scrappydue, Thanks for your very kind offer! I really would like to do that. The problem is that I cannot seem to get a response from the seller. I replied yesterday afternoon, asked a few questions, made it clear that I want to purchase the speakers. Have not heard anything yet. Similar thing happened about a month ago. The same speakers (I presume, because the photo was the same) were Craigslist posted. I replied to his listing, but heard nothing. Perhaps he is a morning person and today will be different . . . . Do love the sound of my KLF 20s, and can only drool over what the 30s must do.
