  1. Well if the plywood is not seperating i would just sand and fill cracks and voids then tighten the screws let dry for awhile the re-veneer the fronts.Might try find some type of sealer to put on the bottom edges to seal them up cant really tell from pics how bad it is but looks like just got wet then mold started,,,if it was wet a long time the plywood would have seperated. That area you took pics of inside had air leaks on mine i poured glue in there and then sealed all the joints with silicone.. mine are air tight now its an easy test to check if you want to make sure yours are air tight.Rick
  2. The idea of theater adds is good, i liked the old rollingstone adds to.Most people dont even know about Klipsch... Heritage or otherwise so any add would be good. The problem is you need to educate the people with the add and a theater would be best place to do it.I would rather do A-B test in a theater than watch some of the other stuff they show there.Could have direct radiators behind screen then say is it real or Klipsch...lol.Before the days of cd and hdtv i went to a demo of Klipsch ..Paul Klipsch was there to... anyway the demo was slides and audio tape of tree being cut down i would bet everyone in there thought that tree landed right next to them. Here in KC,MO we have a theater dinner type place that would be good to i think. The WAF is kinda out since most homes are getting home theaters ...so now the performance side will come back into focus as it should be anyway.Rick
  3. Why not make a new back board with another piece of wood and maybe 2 pieces to make it stiff then put new connectors on it save old back board if you need to sell later.Rick
  4. Well the BLO information came from HDBR...Andy.. who worked for Klipsch and im sure he knows alittle more than most about how they were made.Rick...edit.. sorry i didnt mean this to sound like arguing maybe they used both oils my vote is for BLO since i have used it.
  5. Why not buy the iron on type and trim with razor blade.BLO oil is what Klipsch used on your oiled K-Horns just use same stuff. You can get the old edge banding off with a clothes iron heat it up and pull it off...re-apply new same way.Rick
  6. Cleaner from radio shack or parts express will work unplug spray in the little hole on the pot. with reciever cover off some kina hard to get to but spray and rotate let dry over night.Bulbs can be ordered from parts express dont know part number right off can get it for you soon.Rick
  7. Did anyone else get the catalog from Acoustic Sounds and see the sweet pics of the Heritage line there? They are located in Salina KS.....Rick
  8. You could use Dads stripper from wal-mart thats what i used on my K-Horns it just sprays on, let it set then use a plastic type brillo pad from 3-M...mine had white house paint then Klipsch black under that...came right off but a little left in grain but you still need to get it off to reveneer anyway so might as well try it.Rick
  9. Grippers are like felt furniture pads but different....HDBR had me try them. I was in a hurry that day so i didnt A-B them but it did sound better i think.Unlike spikes which transfer vibration to the floor, Grippers isolate the speaker while hooking the speaker to the floor.I used them first on my Scalas then got them for all of my speakers. They sre cheap and easy to try let us know what you think.I have not heard from anyone else trying this maybe they got carpet...or maybe they dont think it works but why not try it prove it or disprove it.Rick
  10. I think since you only need the false corner to the top of the base bin it would add mass and be stronger to just lay the 2x4 down and interlock them into the corner then add sheet rock. Then fasten a 3/4 inch plywood on bottom to sit K-Horn on, i bet that would make one solid false corner. You might even try it with 2x2 boards to make it thinner ,i think im going to try the 2x2 one.Rick
  11. The yard is 72 inches wide so its alittle less than 30 bucks a yard also you cant re-grill a pair of K-Horns in 3 hours if you have to remove the old grills and the 10,000 staples lol.....so why not use the good stuff make it look good....a job worth doing is worth doing right....taking short cuts will come back and bite you in the rear end i bet.Rick
  12. Also on the hard floor i would pull those factory metal slidders off and get Grippers from wally world HDBR had me try this idea and i think it helps alot. Also if you go look at my K-Horn project thread you can see the flase wall i made for mine it seems to work fine i used 90 degree brackets and wing nuts so i could remove if i needed to.Looks like you got one good wall is it sealed with pipe foam ???Rick
  13. I have been using parts-express ..Sound King ofc 12awg 259 strands it looks like monster stuff a roll of 100 feet is 40.00.Rick
  14. I would think you could get 1/2 inch pipe insulation over there....it will make up for a lot of wall variations.Try and seal both the tailboard and the upper horz. part of the bass binn.I dont think the window on the upper part is going to be a problem.Rick
  15. If your going to transport in trailer put some kind of bag,,,plastic to cover the tail board no need to exspose woofer to wind which could be enough to damage them i think.Rick

  18. Im glad Hattrick made it home safe and see Corns are holding some sport goodies...hhhmmm maybe should have held out for more money,,lol,,just kidding.Glad to see the Corns got a goooood home and i didnt have to ship ,risking another pair of fine Klipsch speakers.I didnt want to sell them but i had K-Horns in my basement wood shop waiting to come upstairs and play,,,lol. After the deal went down i had some time till slotcar place opened i went to 2 woodworking stores in DeMoines wow woodworking is big up there, best we got in KC is HD,Lowes,go figure.Spent a few hours at slotcar place had some fun then went home...left one of my cars at slotcar place lucky the owner is good guy to he sent it back to me..by the time i got home im sure HatTrick was hooked up and listening to Cornwalls i bet he was up allnight huh.To top it all off my wife has more room in living room,HatTrick has new speakers,i got K-Horns upstairs, got my LaScalas downstairs waiting for thier turn in the fix-up dept...lol... and today i got to see and touch a Lance Armstrong signed bike at the bike shop i work at, top secret bike for KC even boss not sure whats going on with it but even without Lances name on it , it is a 10,000.00 bike...im going to try and make a oak stand for it because i heard it was going on display somewhere special so maybe i will get a hand in it after all.Rick
  19. No they are worn out already and you will replace them im sure....only worry about stopping them from sliding when some idiot pulls out in front of you...lol...you got a pic of these babies?Click on my name and see my old K-Horn project you can see how mine looked last year...omg...but now they are sweeties in new K-Horn project part 2.Rick
  20. Face down is best i think if you got room and something to lay them on....i would still take the top section off to make them easier to handle. If the finish is extra good make sure you protect it.Rick
  21. djk is right 3 fuses but the gunk in your pic is on mine to looks like glue to hold heatsink on so maybe nothing wrong with those parts there.Did you check to see if it has the right fuses and the holder is clean?Rick
  22. There are fusses on the bottom and top on the inside make sure the fusses are good first, i got a 930 i will go check tommorrow for you to see where the fusses are exactly if you want. The HK430 has a alot of fusses to protect it i know it has 3 on outside 5 on inside i have not taken bottom panel off my 930 yet to look.Dont give up on it yet....it is a tough reciever.Rick
  23. Well Accent Sound in KC has had old one on wall for many years on everyday with the old price on it 12000.00 im not sure how old it is but still looks darn good maybe little down on quality but maybe not since the new ones got alot better to.Rick
  24. Well the pictures have been jiggled goood..lol...need wife and kids to leave for awhile so i can really test them. The pics didnt come out real good .I also needed another BLO coat on them the pics were taken right after i brought them up.Here is back side of my false wall i made with mdf and veneered it.Rick
  25. Hey Jeff buy some 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch pipe foam at HD or Lowes and seal the tailboard up atleast...if gap is big you could 2 pieces but it will seal the corner up.Also it looks like you got a top plate so you can seal it up to same way... do one side and tell us you dont hear difference...Rick
