  1. I sometimes buy two sets of concert tickets, so that at intermission I can move into seats closer to the stage and get a second perspective of what might be considered "the same listening experience". It helps me keep an open mind about sound quality, and an appreciation for other people's different opinions. P.S. I do not use my camera while the orchestra plays. One of the pleasures of attending the philharmonic is that the audience is so respectful of the musicians and of everyone in the concert hall.
  2. Nice to read about your center channel speaker. What high frequency compression driver is on your MEH?
  3. Yes that is correct. As for the long wall of the room versus short wall debate, the long wall is usually a much better sounding arrangement.
  4. A Klipschorn might block your light switch access, but the speaker will fit in that corner and function well enough, even if the two adjacent door openings cost you some bass response. If it was my room to deal with, I would want to place the back of the sofa towards the windows and the Klipschorns in the corners of the long wall. Then I would hang some doors and have a very nice Klipschorn room. If we were a couple thousand miles closer, I would offer to trade you one pair of my Klipschorns for your Palladiums, so we could both try something different.
  5. Congratulations on getting those good looking La Scalas. I would want to hear Golden Slumbers, from Abbey Road, played through your nice stereo.
  6. Two solid core door slabs, securely fastened together will create a corner almost anywhere. I recommend a triangular plywood base or top shelf, to stabilize the free standing corner.
  7. I sit up front and center for a variety of live music shows more than a hundred nights a year, which does not leave me much time to write on the forum, but want to share that I am pleased to have Klipsch speakers at home.
  8. My Klipschorns with AK-2 crossovers and another pair with AK crossovers have OEM plates as pictured here.
  9. There's a sign on the wall But she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings There's a feeling I get When I look to the west, And my SPIRIT is crying for leaving
  10. Cutting some wood for replacement motorboards and installing different horns isn't too hard if you have a proper saw and the spare time, but plugging a good quality digital crossover-equalizer into the system is the easiest way to make your speakers sound better.
  11. Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, it really makes me wonder
  12. I got a new multi-channel power amp a few months ago and was so happy that my audio system upgrade was finished. Then this thread on the K-402 Based Full Range speaker appeared and caused me some imaginary stress as I wondered how to fit another pair of large horn speakers in the room while still keeping the 4 K-horns. After two and a half months of careful consideration, I decided to move my rear surround Cornwalls out to the garage, fabricate another pair of "false corners" to enable moving the front K-horns to the back of the room (none of the actual room corners aim at the listening position), thus giving me space for a new pair of front speakers. As soon as I had this plan, a forum garage sale ad for Brazilian Rosewood Klipschorns suddenly popped up, just moments after I had mentally created an opening. Well, now I have 6 Klipschorns and a La Scala center channel in my 7.2 system. This has caused a slight detour to my purchase of point source multiple entry horns, but I am still interested in the K-402 based design and specs, and look forward to reading more about the New Center speaker.
  13. My friend's RW-12d had a burned resistor on the amp. I replaced the tiny resistor, but it burned again, indicating a more serious problem. We decided that a new Parts Express amp would be more cost effective than a full repair, so I cut the speaker wire at the amp and spliced on some extra speaker wire, drilled a small hole and fed the new wire out to an external Dayton Audio subwoofer power amp. While you are in the cabinet, make sure the port tube is tight, because the original glue can dry out causing a rattle or buzz. As suggested in the above posts, first check your fuse and that you have a good sub cable signal, and I would also check the voice coil continuity (hook the unplugged subwoofer driver to any known good speaker wire and play some music), but the amp is the probable suspect.
  14. Nice feature of the Belle and Klipschorn is that you can unscrew a few fasteners, remove the motorboard and have a blank space to put other horns and drivers into. You can also make the space bigger by replacing the little side panels with taller pieces of wood. Label and save all the OEM parts and you can easily re-assemble them to original condition.
  15. You may have been Gone, But you were Not Forgotten.
  16. Brit Floyd in concert is an excellent show. The musicians performances, the lighting and the stage presentation during last years tour were as good as a Pink Floyd fan could hope for. I have bought my tickets for their next appearance.
  17. I enjoyed reading and learning from your website, and from the comments about it.
  18. The Klipschorns have safely arrived at their new home. Here are some pictures of the tops in the sunlight. The woodgrain looks 3-Dimensional, and different viewing angles of the irridescent rosewood create color shifts from reddish brown to gold. Indoors they appear much darker, but halogen spotlights bring out a beautiful glow.
  19. No there weren't any other pictures at the time I made the agreement to purchase, but I liked what I saw. The seller has since then added some pictures and sent me a description of two tiny nicks that are quite acceptable for 33 year old cabinets. I am looking forward to bringing these Klipschorns home.
  20. castledemonte, It has been a pleasure dealing with you. I plan to buy these Brazilian Rosewood Klipschorns from you and will take good care of them. Khornukopia
  21. Your speakers are very beautiful. I would like learn more about them, if they are still available. I have sent you a PM.
  22. Klipschorn bass bin on PWK's workbench at CES (January) 2016.
  23. On the spectrogram displays of post #436, how do we read the colors and shapes to determine that a speaker is performing as desired?
  24. Back to the topic of the K-402 based multiple-entry horn, it is the speaker design that keeps appearing at the top of my wish list. Some things I keep wondering is how would I know where to saw holes in the horns, what taper to cut the ports and if there are other engineering details I am not aware of, if I were to attempt this project.
