  1. I've had two pairs of 3's already, think I paid $150 for each pair. They were ok, I'm sure as part of a theater set they'd be just fine. The 5's have the larger horn and real wood veneer finish plus "Audiophile grade crossover component's?" At least according to Klipsch spec's. I really don't know how much of an improvement the larger horn would make. Both the 3's and 5's use the same woofers in roughly the same volume cabinet. I like real, quality wood veneer but honestly on a slim tower or bookshelf speaker with a grill cover on, how often are you ever going to see it? Since I haven't had a pair of 3's in a few years I'd have to put them up against the RB-75's. From the website: Dual 8-inch Cerametallic™ woofers 8-inch square Tractrix® Horn tweeter 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver Audiophile-grade crossover components
  2. I believe they are roughly 2 inches in diameter, maybe just a hair larger if I recall correctly.
  3. Fry's has the newer Sub12 on sale time to time for $229. Cruddy stock plates but the BASH 300 is almost a drop in replacement when the original fails.
  4. That would of been a steal if they were the 5's. I'm sure the 3's are still worth it but more of an every day kind of price? There's two sets of RF-5's close to me right now but for $600 (Maple?) & $750 black. I've never had or heard a pair and am curious to check them out someday.
  5. My brother owns my old pair of 30's and he's quite happy with them. I brought him over a pair of Chorus 1's to trade awhile back thinking they would be a nice "upgrade" for him. Well, the Chorus sounded extremely bright in comparison, unbearably bright in fact. In their defense his room is all wood panel ceiling and hardwood floors. What surprised me was how the 30's weren't bright sounding at all. I concluded that his crossovers were probably in need of repair and he just said that if they were broken, they were broken just right. I really couldn't disagree as they sound pretty good. I ended up just taking the Chorus back home with me.
  6. I blew up a couple of these drivers a few years ago, I was lucky enough to find used replacements on eBay. I took the woofers to my local speaker repair guy and he turned them away saying they were probably custom made by Klipsch? and he couldn't locate parts. He also stressed that regular paper cones would not have the same frequency response or sound. This is the main reason I steer away from the KLF and CF line of speakers.
  7. I'm afraid shipping would probably put the price a bit out of my reach. Good luck with your sale!
  8. Congrats on the new RS-7's those are truly a great surround speaker! I'm using my RB-75's in my bedroom system along with a Sunfire 12" sub and I couldn't be happier. You may end up kicking yourself down the road if you get rid of them as they are not always easy to replace. Jesse
  9. If I were close I would have no problem paying full asking price for that set.
  10. Well, I took the plunge. I went to the camera shop and the full sized SLR's are just too bulky for my liking. I picked up the Canon SL-1 and thought it felt great in my hands. I went home and did more research and found that Canon was selling refurbished SL-1's with the 18-55mm lens kit for $250 so I ordered one up. That lens gets good reviews but it is a pretty long lens for point and shoot so I ordered a smaller, "nifty fifty" as they're referred to, suppose to be an excellent lens as well. I added a car charger for the battery packs along with three extra batteries and two Sandisk Extreme 32gb SD cards. All in all camera was $275 after tax, 50mm lens was $110, charger w/ 3 batteries $25 and 2 SD cards $45 totaling about $450 out the door. My budget was $500 but I still need a few things like a carrying case and lens caps / filters and such. Can't wait to try this sucker out!! http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/eos-sl1-18-55-is-stm-lens-kit-refurbished?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=DSAs&utm_content=DSAs&utm_campaign=DSAs&cm_mmc=GA-_-CanonOnlineStore-_-151030PLA-_-DSAs http://www.ebay.com/itm/391312811856?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/SanDisk-SDHC-16GB-32GB-64GB-SDXC-Extreme-90MB-SD-UHS-I-U3-4K-C10-Flash-Card-LOT-/321789459461?var=&hash=item4aec257c05:m:muYmY5wrk2hnF7WiOl-d0Gw http://www.ebay.com/itm/371130368320?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  11. Personally I'd get the $100 KSW-15 and save the extra $150 for a new BASH 300 plate amp for when that old Klipsch amp dies out. The KSW subs were designed for movies more than music but the 5.5's do pretty good on their own. I'd just crossover the sub really low to fill in that last little bit, maybe at 40-45hz and it should be OK, hard to beat for that kind of money anyway. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Jesse
  12. Thank you for bring up the subject! I've been interested myself in buying a camera and I'm quite fascinated by the Canon SL-1 from your first post. I've probably read a couple hundred reviews on it already and have been looking at the different kits available online. I'm going to go back to Kenmore Camera and actually hold one in my hand before I make a final decision but from what I've read so far it seems like the perfect camera for me and its in a reasonable price range as well. Thanks again! Jesse
  13. I have a pair of the THX Ultra 2 Subs and think they are pretty incredible. I've never heard any of the other speakers though.
  14. The RB-75's and RC-7 (positioned vertically) are roughly the same size as the RB-81, just a whole lot more speaker with the larger horn driver.
  15. I would not recommend the RB-81's for mains. They are OK for lower volumes in a smaller room but when you start to turn them up they really don't sound that great in my opinion. I recently replaced my 81 II's with a pair of RB-75's and the difference was night and day, my jaw is still hanging low in disbelieve. I personally would go with the RF-7 II's first choice or a pair of RB-75's or a set of three RC-7's for L C R, that would be a killer front end line up. Jesse

Did you upgrade to something else? Good luck with the sale!
  17. In Taekwondo I was taught a good defensive fighter will always beat a good offensive fighter and a good trap fighter will beat a good defensive fighter. A good offensive fighter can beat a trap fighter and on goes the circle. The key is to be all three and use each style when it best suits your needs. People who don't appreciate a good fight must not understand how sporting it actually is. Once the physical limitations are overcome it is almost purely a mental game, like chess. Anticipating your opponent's next move or even setting him up without him knowing. A good fighter is thinking about a move or two ahead, not just rushing in trying to take someone's head off. Holly did a great job setting up her kick to the face, perfect knock out strike. She pushed Ronda away to get some distance then stepped in and crack! lights out. Holly did play a perfect game and made Ronda look like an amateur.
  18. I'm really interested in the SL-1 from the very first post as it looks like a great, smaller DSLR at a reasonable price. I like the fact that it uses a rechargeable battery pack instead of standard batteries and SD cards are cheap and plug straight into my laptop. It gets really good reviews as well.
  19. I just watched the fight. Looks like Ronda has been on top for too long and has gotten lazy. She was showing signs of fatigue at the 2 minute mark in the first round and Holly looked fresh throughout the whole fight. With Ronda's ground game ability I think a rematch would go in her favor, assuming she trains half as hard as Holly has. Ronda clearly made the mistake of trying to fight Holly's fight in a stand up game and chasing down a striker especially when tired isn't smart either. I think Ronda will watch the tape, see the mistakes she made and come back the winner.
  20. I just had a conversation with a local camera store owner (old friend of mine) about the market today and where its heading. Basically he said point and shoot is going the way of the dodo bird because of high quality phone camera's and DSLR has come down in price considerably. DSLR's are the way to go if you want to take photography to the next level. With interchangeable lenses and image editing software the sky's the limit. Taking some classes might not be a bad idea if you opt for a DSLR as they are much more complex than a simple point and shoot. Fun hobby for sure once you get past the learning curve. As a side note, I just had some 8x10 prints done up from my old Samsung Galaxy S4 camera phone and they look great.
  21. Great story! I absolutely love the Chorus line and have been searching for a nice pair of 1's to show up close to me. Love the Walnut finish, one of the most beautiful veneers Klipsch offered in my mind.

    RC-7, $200.00

That's a great deal on one of the best centers ever made by Klipsch. If I were closer I'd snag that up in a heartbeat!
  23. I paid about $610 shipped for my black pair off eBay in near mint condition and they have the same labels on the back. I cannot tell any difference between them and the other pairs that I have had with factory labels, they sound great and are a permanent fixture in my bedroom system.
