  1. I stumbled across a mahogany KLF-C7 center as part of a set I bought and thought it looked great. I was honestly a little confused when I first saw it, thought it wasn't even a Klipsch at first with the cover on.
  2. I recently sold my Chorus II's with the Crites tweeters and crossovers, the guy who bought them was happy and didn't mind paying $150 extra. When I advertised them I listed 2 prices; one with everything intact and a cheaper price without the upgrades. I had at least 6 serious inquiries and each one wanted the Crites gear included. Those are very beautiful speakers, good luck with the sale!
  3. The 5.5's are louder and are much more bass heavy than the 4.2. The KG's are nice and all but for $400 I'd hold out for a pair of Quartets or Forte's, the sound quality will easily surpass any of the KG speakers.
  4. Very nice! If you were closer to me I'd offer you $400 cash for them right now. Hopefully you keep them as they are hard to find if you're looking for them, especially in nice condition. Congrats on the score!
  5. Wow, that's cool! I never knew there was a non-passive version of the KG-2's. These must be early '80's I'm guessing? A friend of mine has my old pair (with passives) paired with a SW-8 for a sub for his video game TV and it sounds great. Good luck on the rebuild!
  6. This was never even brought up sure this is important but, we haven't even gotten to this point yet. derrickdj1 derrickdj1Klipsch Fanatic Heritage Members 7,494 posts LocationNorthwest Indiana Offline Posted 11 July 2015 - 06:03 PM "I read the article from Swarm. Before we start debating horn vs direct radiator subs, a key point has to be noted as in the article, room interaction. Many respected sub experts say the room is 50% in getting good bass in a room." Sorry, I don't know how to do the multi-quote thing but this was in the 4th response and I was basically agreeing with the above point. I have formed many different opinions about the same model subwoofer in various settings. If I only heard the subwoofer in setting "A" I would have concluded it was junk but in setting "B" it was pure magic. Room, placement and listening position are huge factors with any subs performance and have to be taken into consideration.
  7. Being a "non" expert but speaking from a ton of experience I'd have to say and agree with previous posters that the room and position (placement) of the sub and listening position have at least as much (if not more) impact on the quality of bass response as the sub(s) themselves.
  8. I really like the color... is that the twin turbo eco-boost?
  9. Each room is going to be a bit different. My friend has a DIY vented 18" sub with an iNuke 3000 dsp and it sends out quake type waves that are awesome for movies. My Ultra 2 subs send a rumble through the floor that is quite nice but also has the cheek flapping ability and precision that is scary. It seems to me that the Ultra 2's are somewhere in the middle of the large 18" vented enclosure and the nice tight accurate RSW-15 but quite a bit louder than both. Basically the Ultra 2's do better for music than the 18 but not as good as the RSW-15. The Ultra 2's do better for movies than the RSW-15 but not as good as the single 18. Hope this helps, good luck!
  10. I use a Samson SX3200 at 750x2 @ 8 ohms to drive mine and they sound great.
  11. Those are definitely Chorus I's, looks like Walnut finish. They would be a nice step up from the Heresy. If they're in very nice condition I'd have no problem paying $650 for them as I believe they're worth every penny. That's a whole lot of speaker in a much smaller footprint than the La Scala.
  12. The WD Passport drives are extremely reliable. Between myself and several of my friends we've had about 2 dozen in use over the last few years and I've never had or heard of one failing, highly recommended. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WD-My-Passport-2TB-Portable-External-USB-3-0-Hard-Drive-Storage-Black-WDBY8L002-/201302141510?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ede8aea46
  13. I use both WD and Seagate desktop style Hard-drives and have had a couple of the cases go bad on both but the drives remained intact. Frustrating but a relatively cheap and easy fix. Anyway, I've learned to keep doubles of everything and triples of the really important stuff. Prices have really come down a lot on storage, the Seagate 5tb drives frequently go on sale for $130 shipped.
  14. Kind of reminds me of the church lady who bought a $100k RV for her dogs. http://blogs.christianpost.com/nutshell/tbn-exposed-tbns-power-profit-and-a-pink-poodle-trinity-broadcasting-8487/

    RB-81II

The RB-81 II's are excellent speakers. I recently bought a pair for my bedroom system and they sound great. I think they are a huge improvement over my old RB-5 II's that they replaced, much more balanced sound overall.

Specs from Klipsch: Frequency Response: 35Hz-20kHz(+-)3dB SENSITIVITY: 99dB @ 1watt/1meter POWER HANDLING: 150 watts maximum continuous (750 watts peak) NOMINAL IMPEDANCE: 8 ohms TWEETER: K-75-K 1" (2.54cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver HIGH FREQUENCY HORN: 90(o)x40(o) Exponential Horn MIDRANGE: K-53-K 1.5" (3.81cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver MID FREQUENCY HORN: 90(o)x40(o) Exponential Horn WOOFER: K-28-K 12" (30.48cm) Fiber-composite cone active / K-120 12" (30.48cm) Fiber-composite cone passive ENCLOSURE MATERIAL: Medium density fiberboard construction (MDF) ENCLOSURE TYPE: Bass reflex via passive radiator DIMENSIONS: 40.75" (103.5cm) x 15.5" (39.4cm) x 14.7" (37.3cm) WEIGHT: 65 lbs. (29.5kg) FINISHES: Matte-finish Black vinyl Built From: 1993 BUILT UNTIL: 1994 They use the same tweeter and mid horn / driver as the original Forte, part number for the woofer comes up close to the Heresy III (k-28-E) The cabinet quality is like that of the "KG" line but with the cheaper vinyl wrap finish instead of real wood veneer. Certainly not the nicest of all the Klipsch speakers ever made but they sound great. I bought mine to replace my Chorus II's when I moved into an apartment several years back. The rear firing passives on the CH II's rattled the neighbor's wall and knocked several pictures down, at least that's what the note said that I found on my door. I did a quick search on craigslist and found the t5000 for $200 and snagged them up. They don't have as much bass as the Forte or Chorus but much better than the Heresy.
  17. I owned a pair for about a year, great speakers. They are very similar to the Forte but with a forward firing passive. As long as they work and the cabinets are in decent shape I'd say $150 is a great deal.
  18. It says $200 in the listing, great deal for some nice speakers.

    RB-75s...in Maple?

I almost placed a bid on these, probably would have if they were cherry finish. Congrats to whomever bought these!
  20. There's a guy on eBay that repairs the amplifiers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Repair-Service-Klipsch-RSW-10-12-15-Send-Us-Your-Amp-Front-Control-Panel-Cab-/281694041134?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item419645f42e
  21. $150! Damn that's a smokin' deal, someone should really jump on these!
  22. OK. I guess I'll just leave it to you to tell me what sounds best to me, thanks!!

    RB-75s...in Maple?

Has anyone ever compared these head to head with the RB-81 II's?
