  1. Hello, would like to sell these wonderful speakers to make some room. I'm in Snohomish WA and these are for local pick up only. If anyone is interested I would like to sell these fully upgraded for $850 or for $700 with the stock crossovers, thanks. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ele/4860187876.html
  2. Wow, only $406 with free shipping, is that right?? http://www.hi-end.on9mart.com/cart/Yaqin_VK2100.html

    Klipsch RC 7

I actually thought the RC 7 had clearer dialogue, I assumed it had more to do with the larger horn than the woofers.
  4. Right on, you're talking the CT-125? Do they sound better than the k-77? I've been thinking about picking up a pair for my HIP's.
  5. Room is really critical as mentioned, a long with other factors. I had a Jolida 102crc in a bedroom set up (11x13) at 20 wpc and it drove my Chorus II's to dangerous levels, couldn't even take near half volume. In that room / situation it sounded great and was perfect. I moved the system to a different house and a larger room and the Jolida sounded like crap and didn't go anywhere near loud enough. Had I only heard the Jolida in the second room I would have just assumed it was a piece of Chinese junk but I was really quite impressed and totally happy with it in the first room.
  6. I heard these sound pretty good: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Carver-SILVER-SEVEN-stereo-tube-monoblock-amplifier-/191489172654?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c95a4e4ae
  7. I've found the Chorus II's to be less "shrilly" and much smoother overall than any stock Heritage speaker I've heard, especially at higher volumes. The bass on the Chorus II's will also beat them hands down, even the K-Horn. I've heard 4 different sets of K-Horns, 1 of them fully "Hot Rodded" with the volti horn, huge coiled crossovers and new tweeters etc and while those actually did sound "better" than my Chorus II's they still didn't have the bass response. I remember leaving that day after listening to several SACD tracks on a full McIntosh system with a huge grin on my face. Yeah, dudes stereo was extremely impressive with the blackest background I've ever witnessed allowing for great depth in the soundstage but I felt I wasn't that far off with mine. My smile even grew wider when I did a little math and realized that the guy had more money just in the "upgrades" to his K-Horns than I had in my entire system, including my computer and 50" Plasma. I've always heard the Klipschorn was supposed to have really good bass but I've never experienced it, at least not as compared to the Chorus II's. Anyway, if you listen exclusively at low volumes or nearfield you have a great number of options when selecting a speaker. I find its hard to find a speaker that sounds great at low volume and continues to sound great all the way up to concert level sounds and impact without breaking apart. The Chorus II's can do all of this in stride.
  8. The magnet is a larger diameter but only by 1/2" or so if I remember correctly. Plus I believe the H-III still uses the smaller magnet (k-76) just the horn is different like the 792.
  9. Yes the 792 has the Tractrix flare like the H-III's. In this pic I had them in my Chorus II's. They look cool but I didn't notice any difference in sound.
  10. Has anyone ever made a Choruscala? I just love the tight punchy bass and power handling the Chorus woofer offers. The 15" woofer is crossed over at 650 hz and provides plenty of output, seems it would be a good candidate for even for a custom 2-way design?
  11. Just found these on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-cf-woofer-version-3-/181631591409?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a4a1623f1
  12. All are shippable, my door to yours!!! Unfortunately by the time you add shipping cost on large, heavy items great deals become significantly less great, not to mention the risk of shipping damage. I appreciate the offer though, thanks!
  13. If you were close to me I'd already be out the door! Good luck with your sales, they should sell fast at those prices.
  14. Thanks for the input guys! I think I've decided to just recap the stock crossovers as suggested, will probably just send them over to Crites for the rebuild. I was honestly surprised at how good these HIP's sound as they are. I hooked them up in place of my Chorus II's basically just to make sure they worked and to see how they sound. Well, they ended up sitting there for over week as I just scratched my head. With my Subwoofer compliment these HIP's can really hold their own against the Chorus II's. Of course, take away the subs and there's just no comparison which, really makes me appreciate what the Chorus II's are capable of.
  15. A quick search on the net and "American Cinema Supply" shows nothing, only "American Cinema Equipment??"
  16. I've had the Chorus II's side by side the KLF-30's, thought they actually sounded pretty darn close to the same. The main difference was total output, the Chorus just keeps on going up volume wise well past the KLF's.
  17. Another set of eyes have been opened, congrats!
  18. I just listed a pair of Forte II's on eBay, one has wax on the grill cover. I'd be willing to split the set if you're interested and ship one to you. I'm thinking $300 plus actual shipping cost? Figured I'd through it out there, PM me if you're interested, thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Forte-II-Main-Stereo-Speakers-Wax-on-Grill-Cover-Work-Perfect-Local-PU-/321642144014?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
  19. I always thought the RC-3 was a great center for what it is but there are several that top it. The mentioned 64 or the RC-7 is what I'd shoot for but yes, power may be a problem. If you don't have enough power to drive the smaller speaker getting a bigger speaker will only make things worse.
  20. The Palladium line uses Titanium in the tweeters and Aluminum in the mids.
  21. I've always just sent my Crossovers in to Bob Crites as he seems to do a good job and is pretty quick at turning them over. For the 3-way speakers he usually charges $150 for a rebuild and testing. I would imagine he would charge less for a 2-way like the KG5.5, especially considering his new ones are $225. http://www.critesspeakers.com/prices_-_new_crossovers.html KG-5.5 PAIR of TYPE KG-5.5 CROSSOVERS INCLUDING NEW INTERNAL WIRING: $225.00
  22. As for the titanium tweets, every speaker I own has them, 5 pairs. That's the first thing I do any more is yard out those old crusty diaphragms!! Huge improvement, especially at upper volumes.
  23. As your system becomes more transparent it will make good recordings sound better and bad recordings sound worse. If you plan on keeping the KG5.5's I'd recommend installing new caps in the crossovers at the minimum or sending them in to Crites for a rebuild. Good luck!

    100.00 find

I've always like the KG 2's. A friend of mine has a pair matched with an SW-8 sub and he's totally happy. The speaker combo blows away the cheap pioneer towers he had with 12" woofers.
