  1. I don't know I'd expect this thread to disappear just ask @MMurg about his custom Belle thread and that was days after dropping $40k on a new set of Jubes.
  2. Italian- several people have swapped these out in their 30's: https://www.usspeaker.com/ciare-hw321-1.htm
  3. I do like the KLF-30's my first impression was they landed right in the middle of the forte - Chorus performance wise in a nice slender tower speaker sized cabinet and every time I'd visit my brother I was always impressed when he'd crank up the tunes those 4-12's can sure provide some excellent bass slam. I'm pretty sure my next project is going to be based on the same dual 12 design probably with the Ciare woofers.
  4. I had the same experience in just a few short days of owning them blew out two woofers this was years back called Klipsch parts and they told me to pound sand took the woofers to my re-cone guy he said he didn't have that cone material luckily I was able to score a couple used woofers on eBay. My brother ended up with them and enjoyed them for 10 years or so and now I have them back- haven't touched them still not sure what I'll do with them yet maybe just sell them? Get spoiled on the Chorus models can beat the piss right out of them for hours at a time with 600+ watts a channel worst I've ever done is pop a tweeter and that was only a couple times now I have the Chorus II bottom end (beefed up with Beyma's) and the k-691's up top these guys will literally run you right out of the room without breaking a sweat.
  5. I'd go with the biggest you can get / fit I'm currently looking at the 6000f / 504c combo myself
  6. I'm kind of in the same boat with my custom kpt-325's behind the screen factory passive crossovers slight bass boost, minus one on the treble dial and running tube amps make them sing beautifully. I swapped out the k-48's for some nice Beyma 15's awhile back and wow what a difference mostly in the upper bass and lower midrange I wasn't expecting that but they keep up and blend with the compression drivers much better now. Of course that got me thinking about compression driver upgrades but my set up really sounds the best it ever has and I like the simplicity of passive crossovers plug and play maybe some day I'll get the itch and go active, open the door for more experiments.
  7. I would get the biggest and best center possible Ideally it would be the same as your L & R I'd go for the RP-504c if you can swing it something like 60% of your sound comes through the center speaker for movies and TV they have great deals on eBay for open box and B stock: https://www.ebay.com/itm/285245526033?epid=14025651618&hash=item4269f55011:g:cNYAAOSwrEBkQcPk&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwKEA9kuo4uG0ABhTTf9Se1wBfNEc7WffnPX9PsYCunSIMwruF08Isb%2FgZGhMKao1Mjz7o2FE6vD8OezGD%2B7GcHOtlJRcjxAgszwCkuS8ODRkbccedhQZwjI0U7sRue5hxQLZk9keW9uKdkmGFr0m%2FTxq9HUNx%2BXKGICcum9q7%2FcmPYDr0kBk83pd4Dv2F9Zy8W0Jr%2B1IlJgUqhiP4Bv86v1RjG3lQbp288Y9jmv9TJEJJ07M2jC4FJvOLvR1%2BCTxzw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9ammt-WYg#readMoreDesc
  8. I've replaced amps modded in BASH 300's and used rack mount pro amps both worked well for reasonable costs but sub tech has increased pretty dramatically and prices have come down quite a bit if you have the cash I'd recommend the RSL Speedwoofer 10 for $450 out the door shipped hard to beat it pretty much blew away the Klipsch R-112sw it replaced that had amp issues less than 2 months after I bought it new the RSL has been going strong very nice sounding affordable compact sub. https://rslspeakers.com/products/speedwoofer-10s-mkii/
  9. I believe this is the fourth or fifth change since I've been paying attention all part of the fun I suppose I finally found my destination amplifiers in the Carver mono-blocks they just do everything perfect cannot imagine anything sounding better at least for the price I paid only reason I'd get rid of these would be to down-size if I ever have to.
  10. Looks like a 6.5lb weight difference wonder if some sort of support mechanism could be made, maybe a "Z" bracket? AXI 2050: Specifications: • Power handling: 150 watts RMS (AES Standard) • Impedance: 8 ohms • Frequency response: 300-20,000 Hz • Sensitivity: 108 dB 1W/1m • Dimensions: 7.8" dia. x 4.4" D • Weight: 16.5 lbs. B&C de75-8: Net Weight 9.9 lbs./ 4.5 kg.
  11. The 691 is a rebadged B&C de75 with a "hardened" diaphragm and according to the Chief can be substituted without crossover changes. The original B&C de75-8p has been discontinued but there is a couple newer options I'm just not sure how close they are to the one Klipsch used: https://usspeaker.com/B&C-DE75PTN-1.htm https://www.parts-express.com/B-C-DE750TN-8-2-Titanium-Horn-Driver-8-Ohm-4-Bolt-294-615?quantity=1
  12. I just realized you responded after I tagged you sorry!
  13. Not a good match? I believe @MMurg has these on the 18x10's with good results and those are similar to the 510 I believe
  14. If you already have everything try it out see what you think my guess is the Academy is going to be the weak link the 64-II is a pretty awesome center and the Academy is my least favorite amongst the larger center speakers. Try keeping the 64-II in place with the Chorus setup I ran a system like that and enjoyed it for TV and movies timbre match is not as important again if you have everything try it out
  15. Hold out for a RC-7 they were very popular and show up used all of the time just have to be a bit patient. There is a huge gap between the RC-3 & 7 not that the 3 is a "bad" speaker but it will not match well and will under perform next to the 75's. If you do go with the 3 around $150 for a nice one is what I'd expect to pay.
  16. That is a great price if they were close to me I think I'd grab 'em.
  17. I had the 604 horns for my Chorus II's but in an effort to try and make the mod more easily available for everyone I put together some stock horns with adapters to see if it could work. The drivers fit in the cabinet but the 602 horn has part of the phase plug built into the horn and a few people who tried it claimed it didn't sound right.
  18. I conducted a test a few years back testing the soldered lug k-55v in a forte II on a threaded insert k-604 horn and IIRC driver dropped off at around 6300hz, By comparison the stock driver dropped at I believe 6700hz so not as big of a difference as one might imagine. I actually preferred the 55 in my Chorus II's over the stock driver by a lot.
  19. Dam man you always so uptight? Not that it's anyone's business but that too was a joke, not interested in smoking anything not that I have anything against it. I realize it's a "make offer" listing but that price is not what I'd consider a "good faith" price, might as well put a million bucks why not, says make offer right?
  20. Pretty sure that was a joke
  21. $7500?? Forget the speakers I want some of what he's smoking, must be some pretty good stuff! That's brand new KPT-904 pricing...
  22. Thanks for the clarification I was assuming there was multiple taps for some reason I guess that explains why the Carver VTA-20 and Crimson 275 only have single outputs as they both use Edcor transformers my VTA-180's have 2, 4 and 8 ohm positive outputs and a single negative.
  23. The very first version of the forte 1 with the round input cup had a 4 ohm rating, at least that what was printed on them and I'm not sure if there were any changes to the crossovers when they changed the rating and input cup. As far as the output taps I'm not sure it would hurt the transformers if you tried the 4 ohm taps since speakers sometimes have pretty wide impedance swings and their rating is just an average? Maybe @henry4841 or @tube fanatic could chime in?
  24. Better grab them quick at that price
