  1. going to finish these out and give them a good work out. I may roll your THTLP over and compare if I still have time. I'll see how it goes.
  2. Made some ports and added some corners.
  3. You have far too many new toys to be sitting in a hospital bed. Get better soon.
  4. I had so hoped that on this fateful day of you and Carl having the same thought that possibly you could both be correct, but alas.......
  5. That's a big room. I prefer the LS over Cornwall by a huge margin. BUT never heard the LSii or the Cornwall IV. Both are highly regarded. For that size room the extra punch of the horn loaded low end (along with your two subs) gets my vote. Others will be along to tell you otherwise. It is good that you have two really good choices. No wrong answer in my books.
  6. I can personally vouch for the modifications. I have done this a couple times now and they really kick the Heresy up a couple notches (and they were great to begin with) It doesn't hurt that these are also gorgeous. Great job on the veneer and I have always thought the cane was the best look for those speakers. GLWS
  7. As long as she did not giggle, then NO! Turtleing is a common medical condition given the circumstances.
  8. I doubt you will blow the fuse. I never blew mine. I think it was for bands, concerts etc. where they would get pushed hard for long periods of time. The industrials were always fused as far as I know. That x over was used in non-industrial LS also. Maybe just skipped the diode when fused and put it in when no fuse to protect the tweeter. My LSi have AA and still have the diodes. Go figure.
  9. If you look closely, I have the tweeter in mine off to the side instead of stacked. The cabinet did not need modification that way. Not sure it is the best array, but sounds nice to me.
  10. I didn't question the slot in relation to the "points on the ramp", the ramp is on the opposite side of my concern. Your drawing clearly show a 13" tall x 3" wide slot that needs to be covered entirely by the 15" woofer inside dimension (13.77" diameter for the Kappa C) on the inside of the doghouse. His converted dimension into mm is not correct which adds over 1/8" to the length. I have put kappa C in a couple times and they barely cover the 13" slot (when you factor in the width of the slot which his is also is over 3") He is long past the point I thought he was, so my hope of trial fit to adjust if needed is moot. I hope it works out just fine. It should. He is doing great.
  11. purely conjecture on my part but maybe the diodes were not necessary for the industrials since there was a fuse.
  12. The plans I have put the slot at 3" x 13" which the 15" driver covers just barely. These plans are in cm and 77 cm x 335 cm coverts to a slight increase in the slot size (335 converts to 13.189"), which may or may not be an issue. Good time to double check is right now. If you have the woofer, set it in there and check to see if it seals the opening entirely. I have also seen some older LS with much smaller slots. I hope this isn't an issue. I've scrapped a few (hundred?) boards in my day.
  13. I agree with most of the above. Easily worth a thousand. You can test the waters at or above that and adjust if no bites. If you have the original tweeters still, you can swap them out and sell Dave's tweeters separate. someone would be thrilled to get them. Key is to get someone to hear them, then they will buy. My supers sound wonderful. Is that cane grill cloth or a linen?
  14. RIP Kirby. The world needs more funny, smart and friendly guys, not less.
  15. I was texting with @codewritinfool and he offered to do any lifting during our shoot out, it made me sound old and frail. I want to clear that up a little. I am old but not frail. I am strong as an ox, but am stupid. There is a distinct difference. There are thing you can lift and things you can't. There are items that fall in the middle where you have have to lift a certain way. I don't always know the difference. Glad I could clear that up.
  16. My lost package was shipped on 2/17 from Russelville AR which is a driver and 9 iron away (ok 7 iron) A week later it made it all the way to Little Rock. That is where the communication ended and no updates for two and half weeks. Then out of nowhere on March 5th it was listed as out for delivery and actually showed up! Your package may still get there. Good luck!
  17. I had a package lost by USPS in that same time frame. Then they tell me (and the shipper) that it isn't consider lost until 90 days. Well after no updates for two and a half weeks, it shows "out for delivery"! I got the package on Friday. We had all but given up on it. Hang in there, it still has a chance.
  18. Only thing I saw was water damaged mdf. I do know the motor board was 1" plywood. Sides mdf, not sure of the back. They weren't my speakers so I really didn't mess with them that much. Just measured them and built new cabinets. Matthews took all the drivers out, put them into the new cabinet that he finished out. I did add a few braces to the design though.
  19. Highlight of the build was putting the zip ties on caps!!!! Jeffery would have been soooo disappointed in me.
  20. i started kindergarten! best five years of my life
  21. @Lbk did you ever finish your build? Did I miss it? How do you like the sub?
  22. Never had it! One handle and trim for one was all I got! Doubt I need the HIP tweaks as these will not be used for dj or band.
  23. The capacitors drank my coffee too. Heresy are a fun build. About a dozen years ago, I pick up a pair dirt cheap. A dog had chewed them on several occasions. I built new cabinets out of used crate wood I had in the shop just to get them up and running. Used the motorboard and grill, just a clear urethane finish, so limited effort. A simple cap update and all original drivers. When I was done, I was blown away by them and wished I had used better wood. Now have three sets. Those, a fancy pair stained and cane grills and now these industrial looking ones. The last two were modified (but approved) versions of @ClaudeJ1 's Super Heresy. I highly recommend going this route. A more modern woofer with a port, adds the only thing missing from the original design, bass. Good luck with your build. Always an enjoyable project.
