  1. The system looks amazing. as fun as the heritage line is I very much like the modern offerings.

She is right on the money if she makes it to 140. I'm there as well if I make to 106. Better start eating more fibre or something...
  5. First time I've heard of them. Interesting set up and very efficient.
  6. Then you really do want Khorns, and perhaps horn-loaded subs someday. The Khorns will certainly support that habit. Not really. The lower the price, the more risk you take. If you watch places like AudiogoN, you might find a really good pair listed, but the price will be high: ebay and craigslist are the sources where you pays-your-money-and-you-takes-your-chances. I'd recommend watching ebay, and the Garage Sale Alerts here on this forum. Sometimes merely listing a "want to buy" (WTB) ad in the garage sale area here, you might find a forum member that is looking to part with a pair--usually a redundant pair that they've been storing somewhere. The problem is that Khorns are typically not shipped but picked up by the new owner--due entirely to their size and weight. If you want them shipped, then it gets a lot more involved. Chris The only reason I don't have either. Have always wanted a pair of Khorns (ideally) or LaScalas - which in my opinion are the most visually distinctive and beautiful speaker Klipsch has ever made. Have found a couple good deals, but living in the Northwest Territories shipping is the killer, often close to the price of the units themselves. One of these days I hope to find a pair in Edmonton which is "only" a nineteen hour drive down south.
  7. That's what I thought as well after a brief dyslexic moment. I'm good now. I would recommend a Subaru Forester or Crosstreck if she is not hard core off roading. Subarau's all wheel drive system is the best there is and their CVT transmission is very smooth and is built to last. Basically the Volvos of Japan. You can't kill them.
  8. They are known for being very full and balanced sounding. that is a good price.
  9. They are very nice and punch well above their weight. I have the rb61Iis and use them for TV/movies during the week and music on the weekend. Paired with a nice sub in a smaller to mid size room you will be very pleased. They are very accurate and detailed. Snag them.
  10. Congratulations, this will be very much appreciated by your congregants. I attended a wedding in a large Anglican Curch in Toronto years ago - the first time I'd ever been in a church (I'm Jewish). Next to being very pleased that I didn't burst into flames upon entering, the pipe organ they had just bowled me over. It was magnificent. Shortly thereafter I purchased some Bach CDs. There is really nothing that compares to the ambience they create. All the best to you and yours.
  11. A beautiful country and wonderful folks. Believe it or not, way up here in Yellowknife they are the single largest ethnic community. Very family oriented and hard working people. It is hot there and depending on where you are humid- but some places are bathed in a constant ocean breeze that is very doable. A lot of places do have air con. Ask him about his place and the venue. he must think very highly of you to ask you to be part of something that means this much to him, at the very least check out the logistics.
  12. They look magnificent. Envy is a sin they say...I'm guilty- congrats!!
  13. They are a beautiful looking speaker; one that I haven't heard before. Enjoy
  14. Sounds like a LaScala review! Nothing wrong with liking both blondes and red heads.... Unless your wife finds out...
  15. Unless your experience has left a bad taste in your mouth re Marantz, I'm using the SR5008 and enjoy it thoroughly. Not their top of the line but does movies, TV and two channel very well.
  16. Spent a bit of time in Houston a few years back. Texas is pretty impressive, Corpus Christi has been on my list for a while, the beach looks great.
  17. The stark and unforgiving difference between a talented musician and a media hyped "personality".
  18. Mercury was a Parsi born in the Sultanate of Zanzibar and grew up there and in India... His father worked for the British consulate and the family moved to the UK. Freddy became the consumate Englishman and is very highly revered in the UK and throughout the Commonwealth to this day.
  19. They look great, the 112 looks just like the upgrade ticket I need. Kudos
  20. Had a few pints and went over plans with my friend last night. He is going to replicate the Haven 72 for me. We are going to purchase the lumber tomorrow and I'll have to do some searchingly for nice hardware - hinges and handles. He assures me it will be ready in time for our move into the new condo the end of August.
  21. VERY nice. My wife would go along with something like this. Your 64 fits absolutly fine in that. There would be room to spare for my 62.
  22. Now THAT is the sort of thing I was hoping to find! That is magnificent. I'm going to have to look into Canadian availabilty or something similar. In fact my cabinet making (hobbiest) buddy may be able to replicate this.
  23. I have seen that model online. Looking at the specs however, there is not enough room for the 62. I may end up having to go this route but would prefer something that would hold and hide the speaker.
  24. I purchased an RC 62 II centre channel yesterday, it should be here in a couple weeks. This is a sizable centre - 8"x23.5x12.5" and therein lies the problem... seems to be very little on the market a/v furniture/tv stands that will accomodate such a speaker. I am considering commisioning a friend to make me a modified version of the Bell'o Pr 11. A nice model but now discontinued ( I did locate one in Toronto but shipping to Yellowknife was as much as the unit!). I am looking for something furniture grade as opposed to a rack type set up; the wife's sense of asthetics come into play. Are there any major brands that folk are using or is the custom build route the way to go? Klipsch seems to produce centres larger than many other brands.
  25. Thanks all for the replies. A1UC, I took your advice and said speaker has been grabbed.
