  1. Those are beautiful! Wonder why he's selling. With the new finish, seems his price is pretty good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. That has to sound pretty amazing. I'd love to try these with my tube amp, but I really don't want to move them again and nowhere to put the tube amp in their room.
  3. In a lot of places around the interwebs, it is said that the RF-7 II need a lot of power. Granted, they will handle a ton of power, but they don't need it. Tonight, I decided to test the power issue with my NAD D 3020. This is a class D amp with 30wpc into 8 ohms. It is, however, stable to 2 ohms. I do not have a huge room. It is about 21x14x7.5. The NAD/RF combo sounded absolutely stunning. At low volumes, the sound is rich and full. Turning it up, this little guy has enough power to run you out of the room. The pair honestly sounded like a slightly leaner, yet perhaps cleaner, version of my big setup of Altec 19s. I've come to the conclusion that the RF don't need a lot of power, but they need clean power. Being stable to 2 ohms, the NAD is able to handle the few dips below 4 ohms that the RF present. For movies you may want more headroom, but for music, this is more than enough. I wanted to share my experience for anyone that may be concerned about the power issue. I wouldn't say your bottom-tier receiver could power these well, but any quality amp will have no trouble.
  4. With an enclosed back, could you really use these outside of a corner? Enclosing the back doesn't get you the 4' x 4' recommended false wall size.
  5. $300 doesn't sound bad for all pieces. Personally, I'd look for the ref II series. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/klipsch-klipsch-reference-rf800b-600-watt-tower-speaker-black-single-rf800b/10205919.aspx I'm betting on these...which may actually be a re-brand of the original rf-82. So now I'm on the 82 or 800B train.
  7. The horn doesn't look right to be rf-82s. This may be the RF-800B. They were a best buy item also that has no mention on the Klipsch site. A quick google search and the photos look pretty similar.
  8. Whoever bought these is going to be enjoying their music all over again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Not a very good picture, but here she is. I get some pretty interesting looks for the color and the Borla exhaust
  10. You mean...I shouldn't have bought them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. CT is nice this time of year. You should take a trip over and bring an awesome pair of speakers back home with you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. No one? As far as I'm aware this is the best price available and they are in new condition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. It wouldn't be the first time that I've read PWK was cheap when it came to drivers. The sky's the limit for driver price. I believe he chose drivers that got close enough to the specs he wanted and was able to make them work within his designs. The heritage models have had many different drivers through the years, so it's quite possible PWK would choose different components today. ...or maybe he would call b.s.
  14. An interesting discussion. I once read something where a reviewer described sound from speakers as "better than live." I think that hits at the article's intent. Not entirely sure how something could be better than live, but that's besides the point... However, I'm about half and half on the subject. PWK did tests with a piano in the room, recorded it, and played it back on the Klipshorns. Is this not testing for accuracy? If I listen to a guitar, I want it to sound like a guitar. What guitar? All guitars can sound different. PWK also urged listening to unamplified live music to reorient your ears. I agree with this sentiment, but you are only aware of the event you experienced. Bodies of instruments, strings, bows, tunings - they are all different. If I sit 5 feet to the left of you, do we hear the same thing? In reproduced music, we are always hearing some version of what the editor deemed appropriate. Live recorded music still goes through production. Wilson audiophile recordings are phenomenal, but are those tweaked in production? Are they straight from the mic to the cd? Then there's the response of microphones, placement, venue acoustics... I feel as though we want something that portrays the accuracy of our minds. As I write this, the article makes more sense. My sense of reality matches with the sounds of the setups I have. Someone else may come in and determine something is missing from the exact same recording. Very thought provoking and interesting.
  15. Guess it's time for the full La Scala 5.1 setup. ...do you really need a couch? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Seems slightly weird that the dust caps appear like a totally different color than the cones. Probably just the light, I doubt they are fake. Looks like a fantastic deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Looking good as always! Got a buyer for these already? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Thank you! I prefer low listening levels and the details as well. Right now, I just have some acoustic guitar and piano on. Just had to see what kind of power was available and now I know the speakers will go many times what I would ever care to experience.
  20. I would be interested in that, I'm curious as to what it was actually doing. I got a kick out of it because on the speakers I initially tested the amp on in the showroom, it was turned halfway up and still nowhere near as loud as it was when I took the pic.
  21. I use an NAD T758. It is the best sounding receiver I have heard. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but is an "audio first" design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. $4,000!?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I'm always surprised by my speakers ever since I switched to highly sensitive systems. They are so much cleaner and more "live" than anything else I've heard or owned. I almost never listen loud, but tonight I decided to really see what my Altec 19s could do. I've got a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II powering them at 100wpc. This is as far as I could go before I couldn't be in the room anymore: This would most likely be the top for my Heresies and RF-7ii as well. The Altecs stayed clean and clear, but were just beyond what my ears can take. It was fun to experience the room fully pressurized. Just had to share. I'm astounded by the quality of all my systems at low and high volumes.
  24. Price reduced. $700. Need to get these out of here before my wife kicks me out instead. Too many speakers now.
