  1. Last year I bought a Primaluna EVO 400 and love it. It came with EL34 tubes and they sound great. I recently changed the two preamp tubes to Brimars and those sound awesome. I am now considering rolling some power tubes as I have never tube rolled. So many choices and so many opinions but my wife wants a Christmas list so here is what I am considering. Tung Sol KT-150s or Gold Lion K77s or Primaluna KT 88s? have any of you tried these tubes in your Primaluna Integrated amps? Since the EVO 400 has 8 power tubes I'd like to get it right the first time.
  2. bump - tweeters still available Pair of Klipsch K75 with Crite titanium diaphragms - From My Forte 1s - $100 plus buyer pays shipping - will include original k75 diaphragms if buyer wants them too Pair of K77 Tweeters from Heresy 1s - $100 plus buyer pays shipping
  3. my Primaluna EVO 400 Integrated tube amp - love it - yes its on a shelf screwed into studs and is not sitting on the subwoofer - I use the isolation feet to make sure there is ZERO vibration to the amp in case people feel the need to chastise me for what looks like the amp is sitting on the sub - lol
  4. Been there done that lol - I’ll try and call you tomorrow - my wife and I were riding our bikes to the beach when you called now sitting down to thanksgiving dinner - happy thanksgiving
  5. the yamaha avenge series of AVRs are very very nice - I have an RX 880 and it sounds very good and is quite capable - I use it for all my TV sound and home theatre setup $415 sounds like a great deal to me
  6. One of my all time favorite records is the soundtrack to the movie Goin Surfing by the late Bud Browne. Back in the 70s they used to show surf movies in various cities at civic auditoriums. The only place to buy this record was at the movie event. I searched the world for this one - paid $50 for it and a year later found a copy of it at a neighboring garage/record sale for $2 - one of my favorite all time records
  7. No gloves for my record handling. i just handle the records outside the grooved surfaces and run my record cleaning brush over it before i do a needle drop it looks dusty.
  8. Those are some of the ugliest speakers I have ever seen. Hurt my eyes!
  9. sub woofer disease on "your scale" requires a lot of REAL ESTATE - my car has a nice home in my bad *** garage - and yes - lenses are cheap compared to my ride but thats what $$$ is for since i don't have room for subs half the size of my living space
  10. I had a Node 2i and it had a static problem that I tried to trouble shoot fix with changing settings but the static would just come back. Very frustrating. Went back to Best Buy and they ordered me a new Node and even though its the same model the new one sounds so much better than the old static producing one. Playing thru the Denefrips DAC I just love how my system sounds streaming. ---- I have a lot of Vinyl and my turntables sound good to me but these days streaming sounds almost as good and its so convenient I could never go back to CDs and only vinyl since there is still a lot of great music that was never available on vinyl. To me a really good sounding Dac is a game changer.
  11. I use a Node2i as my streamer playing into a Denefrips R2r Pontus Dac playing into my primaluna evo Tube amp playing into my Fortes and HSU sub and it sounds freaking awesome - very close to my analog vinyl setup -- cant explain what makes the Pontus sound so good but the synergy works in my simple setup
  12. I have had that album for years and love it - real surfer type of vibe
  13. did you ever think about putting some speaker grills on those heresys? I dont have anymore LIKE NEW Crites Woofers - lol
  14. Are those type j stands per amazon
  15. I have been listening in Ultralinear and after a number of hours I am still finding them to sound incredible. I have not found them fatiguing in my room with my turntable or streamer and Denefrips Dac but again I like sparkling and accurate highs -
  16. Live your passions! 🤩 it’s easy to be passionate about some great detailed deep solid bass even for non bass heads. Those lower octaves are what you feel. I compare it to a high torque car engine. My 400 hp 400 lbs of torque corvette was fast but my newer Corvette at 485 lbs of torque is fast you feel deep inside.
  17. Crazy Bass heads on this Forum!!!! mercy me and he wants two????? lol
  18. I will have to see if after time I find them fatiguing - if I do I will just go back to the Primaluna 12 au7s - so far on my system they sound great. I have an equalizer for my TT and my Node 2i comes with a built in equalizer if I end up needing to remove some top end along the way - sorry those did not work out for you. and i think its my old ears - i like the high end - thats why i didn't install the Lpads when i installed the Lmahls i bought from Dave A
  19. I really like Zara so I will load that song up and have a listen! Thanks again!
  20. Received my Brimar 12AU7 tubes yesterday from the uk - took less than a week from order time. Popped them in this morning and I want to thank you so much for the heads up. Yes yes yes - these were so worth the investment. Wow! What I noticed immediately was the depth of the soundstage and separation of voices and instruments sounding more detailed. Very warm sounding with great bass slam and very accurate highs without and sense of harshness. I can’t believe that those two little preamp tubes that cost less than $100 for the pair can make as much of an improvement to the synergy of my system. I’m so stoked. Love the klipsch community
  21. btw - my new node 2i had some serious listening time this afternoon and the new replacement actually sounds so much better than my original one. I don't know if the updated software on the new Node is improved or what makes this one sound so much better but there is no doubt the Tidal songs I have streamed sound like they are coming from a MUCH improved streamer. Maybe my defective unit was more messed up than just the static problems I was having. Nice to feel like the Node 2i is a great addition to the rest of my audio setup
  22. I purchased a Node2i at Magnolia/Best Buy back in January of this year. At some point it started generating a lot of static. Searching on line I found some clock settings that needed to be turned off but I still had some misc static. This static went away when I bypassed my external DAC and went RCA outs to my Integrated. I also took tried my CD player thru my external Dac and found no static issues. I then found that a factory reset eliminated the static and I could use the coaxial cable to my external DAC but that only lasted a few hours and the static was back. I repeated this several times to no avail. I put an email out to Bluesound and they responded but wanted logs etc and all this diagnostic info. Frustrated I went to Magnolia and 'no questions asked' they ordered me a replacement. Picked it up today and the new Node 2i played thru my coaxial cable to my external DAC sounds fantastic with ZERO hint of any static. So many people are critical on this forum of so many things but I was very impressed how quickly Magnolia/Best Buy solved my streamer problem . Kudos to Magnolia - I would definitely buy audio gear from them again.
  23. I have the Denefrips Pontus and am blown away by how smooth and without digital glare its sound produces - Congrats on your new Denefrips Venus. I bet it will sound awesome.
