  1. I've gotten a lot of good feedback about this thread and I'm happy that people like it. It has taken way longer than it should have but I've been pretty busy with life things. Thanks for the feedback and questions! Metal trim is straight from Home Depot. I'm pretty sure it is made by Everbilt. It is called "aluminum angle 3/4". If in the U.S., just visit Home Depot or Lowe's and look in the aluminum extrusion section of the hardware aisle. Comes in a couple of lengths and is fairly inexpensive. It is held on primarily by the corners, but also has long strips of vinyl double-sided tape underneath to help it grip and to prevent vibrations. I special ordered some 3/4" U-channel for the fronts of the LF sections, but it hasn't arrived yet. Right now I'm using 90 degree angle for that, but it only protects the outside edge of the speaker. That's where most of the hits would come from, anyway, but because my factory La Scala cabinets were so beat up, the inner edges are pretty rough. The thought was that if I could find U shaped extrusions with the right shoulder length, I'd be able to cover both the outside as well as the inside edges of the La Scala LF fronts. When it arrives I'll take pictures, assuming it is the right dimensions. I also have some very thin and narrow 90 degree stock that could be used on the V front of the LF bin. I have to close it up a bit to make the proper angle, but it'd protect the leading edge of the V perfectly, and would probably look good too. We'll see. I'll post photos when I have them.
  2. You did fine. I’m going to defer to more experienced folks about this.
  3. What a complete cluster. Tell us more about the REST of the Klipschorn. Do you have a Klipsch Crossover "Balancing Network"? Post photos. What does the squawker and tweeter look like?
  4. Yesterday I made backs for the HF sections and attached them. The way the HF sections are made is that all sides are glued and brad nailed together except for the top, which is screwed on. Today I painted the new back sections, let them dry a bit then worked on putting the lower rear corners on the HF sections. We have family in town so I could only do a little bit.
  5. What in the world is that behind the panels? A giant box of Cracker Jack? The surprise in that thing might be really worth something.
  6. LOL, that's the one with the type R "rusty" crossover.
  7. Yeah these are C- or D, in my opinion. There's more going on here than a first glance will get ya.... Like this: What I believe are fixes to the front (though I could be wrong) and de-lamination on the side. A different piece of damage on the other speaker on the lower right just above the boot, and tape on this speaker on the left - holding something on?

  9. Painted the bottom with Duratex and put the feet on. BTW, that off-center screw is what holds the K-401 bracket on the other side.
  10. Drivers & crossover in and wired up on 2nd HF section.
  11. Yes, very much so for me. Someone said it already, but music that is recorded well, not compressed all to hell (no dynamics) and that has a rich spectral content sounds fantastic. I've noticed a lot of things on tracks that I'd never heard before. They're like microscopes. Great stuff sounds great. Bad recordings sound worse than before. At least that's my opinion.
  12. Today I got the K-401 and K-77 mounted to the front panel and got the front panel attached to the bottom & sides. The top is removable with screws. These are odd angles, but here are a few shots: Straight down inside from the back. Waiting for the front to bottom / sides glue to set, then the top comes off and I'll clean it all up a bit then start on the wiring & crossover mounting. There might be another update tonight, who knows.
  13. Started build of 2nd HF section. Waiting for glue to dry. Tomorrow will be 2nd sidewall and mounting the K-401 and K77 to the front.
  14. Klipschorn's WHAT for sale for $4K?
  15. Also be sure to check out "Best of Audio Volume IV" which has the cleanest reproduction of Heyser's Klipschorn review I've seen. https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Audio/80s/Audio-Best-Of-Vol-IV.pdf
  16. Here: https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Audio-Magazine.htm It is searchable, too. I searched for "Klipsch" and here are two things that popped up. Totally cool.
  17. As I have said before, The Pineapple Thief, Porcupine Tree, and a lot of Steven Wilson (also Gavin Harrison) has incredible bass and dynamics. Really shows off great speakers. Gavin also played for OSI on a few albums, another really well recorded group. P.S. The Pineapple Thief's new album, Dissolution, will be released on the 31st of August. The song "White Mist", above, is from that new album.
  18. Finally got a couple of corners on the front of the HF section. Thanks to @MookieStl for fabricating them for me! I am limited on time these days but hope to have more trim on soon and have better photos. Also, in the first photo you can see a bit of the other LF bin still needing to be puttied and sanded and painted...
