what a beauty!!!😍.  Can i ask you where do you usually buy the tires for this horse? I need to change mine and so far only checked Big O Tires reviews here. They are not bad but still i would like to have some alternatives.

    Hi @MirkosMangle

I'm in France, Dunlop Harley-Davidson are the best tyres for Harley ElectraGlide here in Europe, but i don't know you have in USA ? Sorry

Long time ago he was an Eskimo character in the movies, think Frank Zappa re-incarnated him for some of his stories!

*Those Eskimos are Inuit and Nanook was a Polar Bear Spirit or something like that George!

    Hi

Nanook of the North is a french / american movie of 1922, after decline storie specaly for childs with bear (Nanouk name in inuit, Icebear/Eisbär says Micromara), dog, ... with same name. Zappa made an "Apostrophe" record on this film, but I didn't listen to it

  3. Hi,

I have just recaptured my 1996 Cary SLI50, the chemical capacitors are about 27 years old (1995 marking) so it was time to change them: 1 x 2200µF 25v, 2 x 47µF 350V and 2 x 1200µF 450v. For the little ones I bought here in France some 105°C and for the big ones I bought from Mouser at your place in the suburbs of Dallas some superb VISHAY BC blue, to replace the old NIPPON CHEMI CON.

The amp now works wonderfully, the sound is more defined, when turned on, after 3 minutes of heating, the 5U4G/5C3S rectifiers are less stressed.

    Room for photos

Claude J, "Best friend/speaker builder says it's the best I ever had"

I live in the Detroit area, but I am not a DIY'er. I looking for someone to build me a pair of Cornscalas Style D's. Would your friend be interested?

    Hi @Jazzboy

If you want to say something to @ClaudeJ1  you have to do it like this, he will have a notification by the forum of your request 😉

    How so?

2.2uF will lower the crossover frequency putting more low frequencies to the sensitive K77 not the other way around.

    Hi @captainbeefheart  :)

I am French, so I hope to explain my point of view well.

We agree and yes that's exactly it, the 2.2µF will cut lower and it is possible that the listener hears more of the treble towards the crossover zone, towards 4 or 5khz, by accumulating this at the middle horn; the listener may find his speaker more "spicy"

Yes, 2.2µF is almost identical to 2µF and the difference must be marginal, I just wanted to explain how to easily make a capacitor at the exact and theoretical value with 1.8µF + 0.22µf = 2µF

It is good for you 👍

Hello everyone.  I have an update.

I received the cross caps today and just did updated the problematic crossover.

    The issue is fixed.

I'm going to do the other tomorrow and then do some listening.

I don't know if it's my imagination, but the speaker with the updated network seems less bassy, but looking at the schematic that shouldn't be possible.  It could absolutely just be the room and whatnot.

It's a bit brighter than the one with the original but still working network.

The 2.2 measures right at 2.2 on my multimeter, and the 3.9 measures at 4.

Thanks for your help.  I'll report back later.

    Hi @gsgleason

it's a bit late sorry, but you could do better than 3.9µF and 2.2µF.

I don't know if it was explained to you, but to make a 2µF capacitor simply use a 1.8µF capacitor with a second one of 0.22µF in parallel, that will give you 2.02µF theoretically with the tolerance +/- x%.

    same for 4µF: use 1.8µF + 2.2µF in // => 4µF (In your case you can improve your 3.9µF by putting a 0.1µF in // for 4µF)

Good job for the your news networks and yes it's normal 2.2µF will be brighter than 2µF

    ;)

@Full Range  a friend of mine bought the Sansui AU 717 ...he had him revised , cost were close to 500 € . He told me that he can now really hear the Sansui AU 717 for the first time, the difference between not revised and general revised is so big, he really did not expect.  He said , that´s the best SS he ever owned and had listen to. Think it´s a must to do !

    Hi @MicroMara

There is a great French specialist who restores and refurbishes Sansui, his reputation is very high and the packages are very solid. You may be able to contact him if you would like to purchase one of his beautiful restoration, in my opinion he will ship to Germany with no problem. It doesn't have to be in stock, but if you reserve it can give you a superb Sansui SSP that looks like new for many, many years to come. Or you send him a used Sansui bought in Germany and he reassembles it like new.

  8. Hi,

Speaking of turntable, I had a beautiful English Linn Sondek LP12, then in 1981 I replaced it with a large turntable designed by a master of the vinyl world: Pierre Lurné (for example he made the T3 and T5 arms for Goldmund, and the famous Audioméca turntables and Lurné arms). I ran this MINIMUM Turntable for 25 years, but today, this turntable and in a cupboard in my garage, one day I would have to reassemble it and restart it after a nice restoration.

This turntable was one of the first heavy turntables (around 120lb) and if you are observant you will see that many turntables from the 90s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s are inspired by this icon.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of my MINIMUM turntable running and there is no photo on the net. I contacted Vinylengine to give them a scan of this 1980 article from the Audiophile magazine to include it in their database: the article is visible under Pierre Lurné / Audioméca

Look there and tell me if you can read this article from MINIMUM
