    Can’t sleep

I’ve recently started waking up anywhere from 1:30 AM to 4:30 AM. Everyone else is sleeping. I get up and play hide and seek with our tuxedo cat, in the pitch black. She loves to run past me and scare the heck out of me. Then, I’ll watch the sunrise over the ocean/San Juan island. I try not to read, it just gets , my brain going. I’ll rest on the couch, eyes closed and try to put my brain into neutral. Hopefully this ends soon.
  2. My wife used x10 IEM maybe 6 to 8 hours per day for several years, the mini stereo plug stopped working. I tried to graft on a new one... No bueno. New wired Bluetooth IEM was the answer.
  3. No model number inside ear cup, underside of headband,... etc? Type Klipsch (on or over as appropriate) ear headphones into Google image search and try to match model number?
  4. Double shot Pfizer no problems. In our immediate family of 7 people we have collectively had 12 Pfizer with no problems. Two to go.
  5. @No.4, I thought I would revive this thread with a few points; 1. How is you system these days any updates! You only had 10 hours listening time, how was it “broken in”? 2. I’m now in Victoria but still have access to Alberta steaks. 3. The Quintarelli Amarone supply is dwindling, so just thought you should know. Show us your latest work if you have added any!
  6. 1 prescription each; pill, eye drop, inhaler. As long as the right one gets to the right place I feel pretty good at 66. Amarone will cure everything else that ails me.
  7. I just looked and the add was there! I sent a question, just saying people on this forum are interested and he should use guest account to have a look. Maybe still available?
  8. @Islander, my Luxman R-117 is in with Daniel Daigle for its first ever overhaul so I’ve left all electronics off... even been reading with a flashlight!

    Truth

@BigStewMan @oldtimer The answer to the double slit experiment is simple... insufficient caffeine AND someone mocked Ketchup!

    Truth

When I did my analytical chemistry degree, I tried to stay away from all experiments where the observer died. Still, some idiots in a couple of labs nearly killed me. I never held a permanent job in chemistry after I graduated... too dangerous!
  11. I was up at 2:30, no clouds beautiful stars out. Sunrise was spectacular over channel to San Juan island, mount Baker was in relief. No wind. Then about 4:30 cool air started to arrive. We are at 17 whereas last 3 days we were already at 28 or so by now. Thank goodness maybe today will be much cooler.
  12. @Islander, I don’t mind the heat, but this is a bit much for all the years I’ve been coming to the island. We will hang in and enjoy. Lots of cold beverages and the basement have been working well. Might go for an air conditioned restaurant for dinner.
  13. Wife says we are moving to Alaska. Victoria was nice while it lasted.
  14. Toasty again today... likely going to hit 37 in Victoria, but supposed to cool a bit tomorrow. We are all camped in our basement, including pets.
  15. @Schu I was in Vegas once for 114... ouch. Stay inside is all I can say! @billybob yes to all your suggestions... lots of water splashes. Puppy is living in basement, cat is hiding under our bed. Humans are anywhere it’s a few degrees cooler. Might go to a mall, just for the AC. I don’t like AC but could use a bit right about now. one side effect... they have closed Covid clinics for being too hot. My second shot is scheduled for next Sunday, hope they are open!
  16. To those under the west coast heat/high pressure dome... stay cool if you can. Victoria yesterday was 36 Celsius... about 97 F... ouch. This is day 3, at least one more to go per forecast. Trying to keep family, puppy and cat all cool... shade, breeze and basement with a lot of liquids and cold meals.
  17. Yes, they seem to have a lot of water, there must be underground supply. There are water fountains and displays aplenty. Plus a reasonable rain fall. Being low in the quarry helps too. Pretty close to a perfect setting with shade, water or strong sun depending on what the different plants need. Covid has caused changes to the event calendar, due there is an outdoor amphitheater with music on the lawn, a fireworks display and a Christmas lights show when the full event calendar is available.
  18. Any chance of a refund given it isn’t working? Seller must have known HDMI wasn’t working.
  19. Butchart Gardens here in Victoria... an old quarry turned into a National Historic site and gardens that are amazing ... if you are ever in Victoria it is a must see place, if you like gardens. A nice walk, lots of shade and sitting areas, a cafe and a gift shop. The restaurant will likely reopen soon. If you are a fan of Roses it has the best rose garden I have seen.
  20. @dtel similar here, the hummingbirds were around a lot in early spring but are rare to see now although I’m pretty sure they have a nest nearby. Maybe they have eggs to keep warm and flowers are so abundant now they have a lot of choice as to where they eat. You might have migrants taking a short break then flying on.
  21. Back to the Aloha shirt theme, homage to my favourite hotel at least in Hawaii...
  22. They are amazing creatures. Fun to watch, they are so fast. But the vertical hover is best. Once in a blue moon the two will meet and hover in front of each other, then zoom they are gone. They seem curious too. Will come by and check us out. There are lots of plants / flowers for them and warm temperatures so they seem to be ok here.
  23. Emerald hummingbird, one of pair. I think 3rd or more generation living near our house. When the sun hits it just right emerald turns bright red. I tried for several hours for this shot, it was a fluke. It just took off from the branch and I had autofocus on and clicked without seeing what I was getting. Hope to get a shot of the pair together or one hovering vertically. That will be nice.
  24. As a hydrocarbon auditor for large complex sites, I loved it when the engineers would say to me “ It’s really complex, but believe us the math is right.” The math was right, the inputs were always wrong, hence the answers were ...
  25. Andy Weir’s 3rd book Project Hail Mary... good so far.
