  1. Congratulations to Rodger and Cindy! Best of luck.
  2. Way to go Moon! Looks nice. Thinkin' about tryin' to talk the wife into one for my birthday.
  3. That tribute almost gives one goosbumps, does it not? WOW!
  4. Nice lookin' setup Joe! Cool rooms.
  5. Those look great Mark! Wish I could hear them.
  6. Bob Crites(BEC). He is a Klipsch Forum member. He also has several on EBay most of the time.
  7. Kind of cool, thought there may be some interest. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077801310&category=14993
  8. Speaking of polishing metal, I just used something that may be of interest. Some of you may have already used it, it is not new but I am impressed. I have tried a multitude of metal polishes trying to find the best(ease of application, ease of removal, best shine, etc.)overall solution. I have used Blue Magic Paste/cream, Never Dull Wadding, fine jewelers rouges with a wheel, you name it I have tried it. Anyway, I wanted to polish the chassis on my Scott 296 so I decided to try Mothers "Incredible Billet Metal Polish". Holy Ship!!! This stuff is wonderful!!! The difference between a surface done with Never Dull and Mothers is pretty amazing. I did 2 pieces using one on each and to my eye it was not close. I am sticking with Mothers!
  9. Way to go Dave! Did'nt think one more attaboy could hurt. Enjoy the Moondogs.
  10. A final update. I unpacked the 299 this morning. Now, I feel like even more of a jerk. It is a very nice example of a 299 from a cosmetics standpoint. Both faceplate and internally(chassis). Have not checked the tube compliment yet. After some cleaning, detailing, a trip to Craig and a toss into the nice Walnut case I have, this will be a truly fine piece of Scott gear. All's well that ends well.
  11. Well, I kind of feel like somewhat of an Ahole now. The Scott arrived today(Feb. 14),it was shipped USPS on Feb. 3rd. just like the guy said it was. But, c'mon, 11 days to go from the midwest to California! That is kind of pathetic if you think about it. Anyway, have not opened her up yet to take a peak, but when I do I will report back.
  12. Thanks and Sorry JT, could not think of a better way to paint the picture .....ooooh, yuk!.
  13. Found some adhesive that I really am liking for attaching components(caps., etc.)to boards. It does lengthen the assembly process because of the curing time. But if you like doing things cleanly cosmetics wise(i.e. no cable ties, no visible hot glue, etc.)this stuff is GREAT. It is clear, very easy to work with and stronger than hell. I decided after finishing a set of ALK's for my Cornwall's that I wanted to replace the already mounted Solen caps in the Squawker and tweeter circuits with AudioCap PPT Thetas. I grabbed the Solens with pliers after desoldering to pull them from the board and wound up ripping them apart instead of pulling them off, strong stuff. Anyway, try it, I think you may like it. Heavy Duty Welder Adhesive(clear)made by Homax. Comes in a silver tube and I found it at OSH.
  14. Well she came today. Beauty and the Beast all in one. What a sweet amp. and a monster to boot. Pretty nice shape too, even nicer than I expected. Going to pick up a digital camera this weekend hopefully, and I will post some pics as soon as I can. After some cosmetic stuff(cleaning, polishing chassis, detailing, etc., does'nt really need it but I am kinda anal, hehe)it will be on its way to Craig. I am going to try and pull out all the stops on this one as it will be the only 2 channel amp. I am keeping. I will at some point be letting go of my EICO HF-81(NOSValves)and 2 Scott 299's(well, 2 if the second one ever shows up, EBay deal you know), that I will probably send to Craig as well before they go, one with a very nice walnut case. Lastnight I completed the last piece of my tube puzzle for the 296 and I am thrilled. Tube compliment is now as follows: 4) NOS(matched quad)Mullard KT-66 6) NOS Mullard 12AX7(fairly closely matched, 2 different dates) 2) NOS Mullard 5AR4/GZ34(1965) 3) NOS Amperex 6U8(1968) This thing should absolutely make my Cornwall's sing.....I feel like a puppy with two peters.
  15. jtice, Good points, definitely helpful. The way I have been hounding this guy, I hope to Hell HE is not a Fed!
  16. Also, I think I would go for the veneer tape. I think removal/cleanup would be much less time consuming than with the box tape. Veneer tape also has holes in it so you can see what is going on with the joint beneath before securing.
  17. Greg, It appears to be raw, unbacked, 4"-5" wide, approx. 3 ft. long at $3.60 per square foot.
