  1. Track four really sounds cool with different guitar riffs in surround.Over all pretty happy, sound quality is superb,as usuall. The music sounds like it could be the 2nd disc to "two against nature"although not quite as fresh.
  2. You said it ,quality, design, eff. These things plus decades of experience all come together to make a very good low db or hi db's speaker. You will not have to crank for great sound, but if you do,they will.I listen at all volume levels, even low the 7's sound very dynamic. That said,it really comes down to value. For the money Klipsch makes very good speakers,a 2k set sounds better than many 5k sets I have heard. In studios, horns,at a concert, horns,at a local club, horns.I see few tweeters in pro applications. And of course Klipsch with tubes is a natural via eff.
  3. Its always nice when there's no bad choice. Either will shame most in their price range.
  4. MIKE,do you not have a local or semi local dealer?this would be best.If not there are some good reliable etailers,go to yahoo.com,type denon 3803 in search, dealers will be rated for service.I have purchased online and not had any trouble, amps, subs etc..your milage may vary.

    denon 1603

The 1603 in its class is a leader, you still may be better off buying a higher model used.
  6. Panasonic makes great quality,I have a 3 year old A10 dvd-a player that still works perfectly.

    bad company

Yep,Bad Co's latest dvd, merchants of cool is great!Very good sound quality, video and set,one of my favorites.
  8. I think if you can keep them close to the sweet spot you'll be ok,but even or slightly rear is optimal.A good thing about the rs3/7's is they are designed to compensate for minor placement issues.
  9. Mount about 5ft high, a foot or so behind the loveseat(side walls),stay with the ref series for rear center effects.
  10. Hey marksdad,if you see this please explain 42 amps p-p.
  11. m00n,you took the words right out of my fingers,FRZ your right, justin and the rest good explanations.I think of it as a rear center stage(I use two spkrs).
  12. We would'nt think of giving her hel!(that be your job),everybody has accidents.Remove cover(metal on top and sides)phillip screws on lower sides maybe back, remove disc
  13. Not to knock JVC too much but,do yourself a favor and look around.I bought a jvc in the 80's,1k,it was far superior to any 1k jvc makes now(sound wise),and it was just ok.Newer ones have very poor sound and are not even mid fi,imho.
  14. I have purchased and waited several weeks before, don't panic,YET.He really should at least email you though and give you the scoop.GOOD LUCK!
  15. If you are a Zepp fan you're in for a treat.Three cd set of prev.unreleased live recordings(actually pretty good recordings). It sounds like the guys were at their peak,17.95 at sams club.
  16. Gary, please explain 299b and what type connections it has.
  17. B man and JG are on the right track.I have read though a few very good reviews on Klipsch,Sound &Vision did an indepth review of the rf series.Tom N. "The Klipsch towers made inner elements more immediate, more clear edged, its hard to articulate but its something I have noticed from excellent horn speakers, like 50k monitors in big recording studios, big time performance in a big way."
  18. Wheelman,Mesa, very nice! Hope the Onkyo works out for ya.
  19. Just wanted to show a picture of my spare Klipsch 15" woofer,in case you've never seen it.m00n it sounds like you may have to pump up,get in shape to pack the beast in for repairs.
  20. First thing I noted was size and weight, about 18lbs and looks well built. The hook up and set up took about 15 min,it was very simple and straight forward in my case.I hooked it to my 3803,set all spkrs to large, calibrated and put in Blood Sweat and Tears sacd.I was pleasantly surprised to hear a sound I have not heard since the days of vinyl.I have often longed for that full, robust, high fi sound that vinyl offered. But most of my old albums are old and worn and seldom played(cd,dvd etc.more convienient,no crackle). I then put in a Pink Floyd sacd,I was almost overcome with joy 1 minute into it.It made my system sound like my modest investment had finally paid off,big time. I switched gears to dvd-a,Yes Fragile,Fleetwood Mac,Frank Zappa are some I've heard alot. These and all my dvd-a's seem to have a new presents, even more detail than I had previously heard.I had no bass management issues at all switching between formats.DVD-A is no gimmick, its real high def, two or more ch. audio, and the 2900 made it better. Last but not least on the audio side CD's.I have a bunch and need a player that can hold its own with 1k players at least.Well the 2900 does redbook better than my old unit that did upsampling and retailed for over 1k,much better.I would put the cd plaback against most any 1k player, and several players three times that.We actually did a side by side with a 3.5k player(several years old).I can't say it sounded better,it sound as good by four to two vote. As for video I see no artifacts, bugs etc..I don't watch toy story but all I have watched looked very, good.I should say I'm no videophile and didn't buy it for video. Bottom line for me its as good as any 1k I have ever spent on audio.I tried several offerings from other brands, this one brought it all together for me.If you have thought about the 2900,its worth taking a test drive,at home if you can for best results. As you can tell by my review I'm no pro, just a happy camper.
  21. CY,The 898 problem was strictly a matter of sound, music and 5.1 concerts to be exact. It did not sound as good as the 656,777 as pre/pro to me,actually much worse,I really was surprised. It was cold and hard and lifeless, imo,in my system(Carver/ Klipsch)and room. This was just my observation, others could well enjoy it,we all know when we hear something we like.
  22. Mike, sorry for the delayed answer,I like the 2900 very much and will soon post on it
  23. I agree, the Denon beat the pioneer in audio by a noticable margin, imo. The video I really can't say,I thought they were both fine on the dvd's I watched. Now that Denon and Marantz are the same company it will be interesting to see how they compare.
