  1. Not true in my experience. My La Scalas produce a significantly different sound through my CJ MF2550SE than through my Carys with 300Bs or KT88s. All my speakers have different intonation depending upon what pre/amp combination I run.
  2. In very good shape with no cosmetic or sonic issues. Battery packs are good and cables have no damage. The Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award winner and Stereophile recommended component. See the info at Music Direct: https://www.musicdirect.com/cables/audioquest-cv-8-full-range-speaker-cables $275 including shipping in the lower 48. Please email any questions.Thanks.
  3. As much as I like flea watt amps, I could not resist adding this Cary to the fold: 60 watts triode or 120 watts ultralinear. I am glad I replaced the HVAC in that room last week. 😀
  4. Rats, I needed eight... 🤣.
  5. Yes; a very specific one that is half the length on my nutdrivers. And its in my tube drawer rather than the garage.
  6. Inquiring minds want to know: what did you ultimately buy?
  7. Whatever you do, please don't bugger up your terminals with pliers, etc. AudioQuest makes a terminal wrench so you can hand tighten "just so" without damage.
  8. I moved the La Scalas in and now these need a new home. A stock. Purchased last winter to replace the last set of La Scalas, they are in pristine condition with no marks, flaws, scrapes or issues. Frankly. they are just broken in. Include all paperwork and boxes. And no, I do not consider grills an issue; they are an annoyance and an adjustment similar to taking a new car back to the dealer for work. They are fixed and look as below. $3000. While they could be shipped (probably $300, more if they cross the Rockies), I'd prefer local pick up or I'd be willing to drive them a reasonable distance for the price of some fuel. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike

  10. I confess. When I saw the grain pattern, all self-restraint flew out the window. All I can say is they are even more dramatic and visually stunning in person. Isshinryu was a pleasure to work with on the purchase.
  11. A tad? I had dial up in 90s that was faster than today...
  12. Pre- ringed... https://knoxville.craigslist.org/for/d/knoxville-klipsch-speakers/7453371945.html
  13. "When you say that you supported 6 points, what exactly did you mean? I definitely want to try your method on my Heresy IV's grills, as it looks to have worked perfectly. " Assume you are placing the grill flat, face up on a counter. The 6 posts (4 for a heresy) are all that are touching the surface of the counter and if you press anywhere else on the grill, it will bend or flex. I used a legal pad with enough pages removed to match the height of the posts, thus supporting the grill. I could then iron with some downforce without the grill bending. I moved the pad around as I ironed. I also had a thin towel between the iron & the grill cloth. One of the reasons I ironed, rather than using a heat gun, was I had hunch the glue would react to both the heat and steam (plus I could regulate the heat setting on the iron). So far, so good. And yes, I have been known to iron my shirts so I know how to get wrinkles out.
  14. I thought placing the Fortes on top was a great solution to the ring issue...😂
  15. Unless you are buying from a Soviet supplier, I don't believe buying Russian tubes that are already in this country has an impact on the current state of affairs or the Russian economy. That money has already changed hands. While the prices may rise due to the inability to restock, I don't think we'll run out of tubes. Plenty of [pricey] NOS and inventory from other venues such as the Czech Republic, Japan and of course, China. Upscale has thousands of tubes in stock as do other retailers. I suspect audio tubes are a very small segment of the overall tube market and Ham radio operators & pro sound are many times more numerous. Interestingly, the Russian tubes I use I usually source from the Ukraine. His post says he is currently unavailable. Strange times.
  16. Guess I should order those 6922 Voskhod Rockets & 6C33C-B tubes before I have an expensive door stop...
  17. A follow up with the neatly pressed grill is appropriate.
  18. You mean like this on my Forte IV? I believe there are a combination of issues at play here. First, there may have been a bad glue job on the cloth. That's a warranty issue. The second is likely due to the cloth acclimating itself to the humidity in your environment. A friend who builds wooden cameras cures his wood in a humidity controlled room for a year at 50% so that any variation in the real world is minimized. I don't think such conditions surround Klipsch during manufacturing, storage or display. In any event, not patient for a dealer fix and following my philosophy "if it's already broken, what could go wrong?" I removed the grills and placed them face up on a counter. I figured out how to support the frame in more that the 6 posts on the backside, placed a thin towel over the grill and proceeded to steam iron the grill fabric into submission. It worked and has stayed flat and non-sagging for a month (longer than after I initially removed them from the box). For what its worth the iron was set to 300 degrees with steam and used some force. As there is plastic in the grill cloth, I think a heat gun is an invitation to disaster. Most low setting are in excess of 500 degrees. As for finish issues, if its bad from the factory, Its "B" stock. otherwise, my experience with three set of Heritage speakers is they are no more susceptible to damage than any other modern wood finish, owner stupidity aside... Relax & enjoy them!
  19. My opinion (which with .99 gets you coffee at McDonalds) is to go with the 2019. Consumer Reports gives them nearly identical ratings. They also say "The Hybrid has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and dual electric motors, which give it a phenomenal fuel-economy rating of 47 mpg overall." What's gas going for in K'ville? It's $4 in the mid-State. The resale value of each in say 5 years, will not be significantly different and if fuel continues to rise, the 2019 may be more valuable. As for the age & mileage, it's a Honda; what's the question? If it was truly "just transportation," you'd buy another Camry. I say if you like the Touring model, go for it. And pass the gas stations...
  20. In a word: absolutely. I've tried multiple brands and had settled on KR Audio until this latest iteration of WE 300B was released. The difference is night and day. There is a reason WE 300Bs are the tube everyone tries to recreate or duplicate.
  21. Cleaning out the cable drawer. None of the cables have any issues whatsoever; they are just surplus to my needs. All would be rated a “9” except the Monster cables which are a “7” only because they are older than the others. Still work great, though! All prices include shipping in the lower 48 and any PayPal fee. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike MIT 1m Toslink cable with iPod mini plug adapter: $25 Monster 1m Hyperlitz & M1000 2.0 RCA cables $75 for both pair
  22. Cleaning out the cable drawer. AudioQuest Coffee .5m HDMI cable; 72v with original packing: $200 No issues whatsoever; just surplus to my needs. It would be rated a “9." Price include shipping in the lower 48 and any PayPal fee. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike
