  1. @Islander You made a comment about it in a thread from 2010. "Since that bass peak is caused by the dimensions of the La Scala bass horn"
  2. Here is a summary that of course is slanted to their amplifiers, but it is fairly accurate. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-damping-factor-isnt-much-of-a-factor Here is a better summary https://butleraudio.com/damping1.php Floyd Toole basically says a damping factor of 20 is sufficient, the rest is up to the speaker.
  3. And yet it's just as meaningless as 4,000.
  4. Nice purchase. Give the woofers a few more days of use, they will reward you. Play music you would use to demo a subwoofer.
  5. The Stereophile review of it was favorable. Good to know it works well with Klipsch Heritage models.
  6. Obviously enough to make a coupe of posts about it. 😁 (meant in a good natured way)
  7. My CWs and LSs sound effortless with my single digit watt amplifier. 😉 The ATC SCM 11v2s (85dBs 1w/1m) I had required around 20 (tube) watts to get there. Lowest solid state amplifier I used was 50 watts and it got the job done also.
  8. Do you know how to do an internet search? It's real easy and can eliminate a lot of guess work and silly posts. A lot of audio companies have been using it for some time. http://www.atma-sphere.com/en/classD.html https://gansystems.com/newsroom/extending-lead-in-class-d-audio/ https://futureaudiophile.com/what-the-hell-is-a-gan-gallium-nitride-amp-and-why-is-it-changing-the-way-audiophiles-now-see-power-amps/
  9. JA in Stereophile measurements: "and as the amplifier has an output stage that resembles class-D, I inserted an Audio Precision AUX-0025 passive low-pass filter between the test load and the analyzer." No need to insert a low pass filter with an A/B output.
  10. No longer For sale is a pair of 1982 Cornwalls Birch Raw in fair condition (for age and multiple owners) that were refinished 2 years ago. The black painted fronts and the back panels were not redone. They were pretty rough when I got them, but the cabinets are solid and the new finish makes them very presentable. The original thin insulation was in bad shape so I took it out and added Sonic Barrier to all surfaces. There is a short tear in one woofer that I applied a small piece of fabric like paper with Elmer's glue to the back of the cone. They have new risers. Grills are included but are bent and may not be usable as is (I never planned to use them), unfortunately only one Klipsch badge survived 40 years.
  11. They are sold, so maybe the price was right. Where I live you would be waiting a looooong time to find a nice pair priced lower. Of course we don't know if the seller came down, but doubt they went for half or less.
  12. Solid state or would you consider tubes? Schiit Audio sells preamps and amplifiers for less than what you might think for US made. There are some others depending on your budget and ss or tube.
  13. No Many people would be thrilled to have your amplifier, relax and enjoy!
  14. @NOSValves JohnA the thread starter mentions what he ended up getting (Yamaha R-N600A) in the post above yours. Your post may be beneficial to someone down the road.
  15. Stereophile: The No.5805's fully discrete, direct-coupled, class-AB-biased amplifier section....
  16. I have not had a home theatre since the mid 90s and I thought 2 channel for music is okay on this forum.
  17. A friend of mine would respond to a $600 offer with, I will use them for fire wood before I would sell them for $600. 🙂
