  1. I might have said “known to resonate” instead of “known for its resonance”. Can you feel the sidewall moving when you are hearing the issue? On my LS 1 it would become very apparent on some songs and I could feel it with my hand quite easily. As others have said, clamping some additional bracing in the outside of the cab is a cheap and reversible fix that you can easily test and back out of if you don’t think it helps. the EQ setting I posted were specified by @Chief bonehead for folks using DSP when mounting the K510(I think) on top of the LS bass bin. The sharp notch at 148Hz made a world of difference on my LS 1. If you aren’t going active EQ then just concentrate on the rest of the equation regarding placement and room modes.
  2. A second pair of Heresy’s makes a nice set of stands.
  3. Yes, they resonate. Bracing will help a lot but it won’t tame some of the irregularities in frequency response that are inherent to the LS due to compromises in the horn expansion. if you have an active DSP setup that is capable of some parametric EQ adjustments, you can try the following settings that are known to ameliorate the response of the stock LS bass bin. 87hz, Q:3.5, +5dB 148Hz, Q:8, -7dB 380Hz, Q:5.5, +2dB
  4. I wouldn’t trust any measured differences unless the speakers were both in the exact same position in the room.
  5. Oddly enough, some people would like to have a tweeter that doesn’t run out of gas past 15KhHz and can handle a little bit more power. Plenty of stuff sells for silly amounts of money just because it is old and or rare. You are deluding yourself if you think there aren’t far better modern tweeters available.
  6. There are two caps in the high pass filter and two caps in the low pass filter. If any of them are out of spec it could potentially shift the crossover points and adversely affect the sound.

I’m so intrigued by them. I really want to build a pair.
  8. Those are the Theater surround version THSR2 which didn’t come with a tweeter.
  9. The PRV WG45-50 is a great sounding 2” horn, no sanding required.

He’s in Chattanooga, TN and does live sound for events in the area. He’s also got some MEH tops he built using Scott Hinson’s design. https://www.jwsound.live/ He’s got more pictures of his projects and stuff on his instagram, https://www.instagram.com/jw_sound/

A t.racks FIR DSP 408 is used for eq/crossover duty.
  12. Another question is what speaker is it going in and why do you want a lower FS?
  13. I used to work as a janitor and would clean carpet regularly with heavy duty industrial extraction machinery. Even so, when that carpet would get pulled up and replaced, there was an absolutely disgusting amount of filth that was left beneath the carpet. Go for the hardwood floor. put a washable rug down and work on the rest of the room acoustics.
  14. There is nothing in the crossover schematic that indicates that would be the case.
  15. Having some cold cuts from the smoked pork I made Thursday. Check out that smoke ring! it was wet and rainy all day but we managed to get out and pick up a Christmas tree.
  16. Absolutely. but perhaps not as much of a difference as Roy’s PEQ settings for the Jubescala. The LS bass bin has a massive bump around 148Hz and some EQ to flatten it out really helps the low end definition. Put the EQ together with the braced sidewalls and it’s much better.
  17. Have you swapped the Heresy’s left and right? It’s possible the other speaker you tried isn’t presenting the same load on the amp. It’s not completely unheard of for there to be an issue with the solder joints at the input jacks or elsewhere on the crossover.
