  1. Reading the forum convinced me to get my first pair of Heresy's. I loved the sound. Then because of reading this forum I got the urge to modify my speakers. So I front mounted the tweeters and dampened the horns and doubled the thickness of the back. The sound only got better and I think it's got a long way to go but I love it. Peace, Josh
  2. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT as my daily driver. I also own and am hoping to convert to daily driver status by the end of the summer a 1983 245 dl Volvo station wagon. Too bad people think volvo station wagons are slow. While mine is the NA model I installed the turbo manifold with a T3 turbo running about 14psi. So basicly I have a wagon that can keep up with a stock WRX Unfortunately the weak auto transmission decided not to hold up to double the stock horsepower Once I get that thing running again I'll be taking it to the track for some 1/4 mile times. Peace, Josh
  3. It's good to see that there is still some humor left on this forum. Looking at that pic it looks like our dear friend Baffled Bugs Bunny(or maybe it's Helmholtz Resonator Bunny, but than the initials wouldn't work out right) is wearing a different avatar than his normal(not that he is really normal) self. As to who the original owner of the giraffes is I am truly cluless, I do remember that their previous owner was worried about where to keep them as the do seem to take up a lot of space on account of the long necks,I have been told that if I drink enough longnecks I too will take up a lot of space, so I had best stick to my scotch. The giraffes spent some time in the addition that Dale was putting on his house but it is rumored that they headed south once the winter set in. Peace, Josh
  4. I've had my H/K 430 for a little over a year now. The 430 was a good match with my heresy 1's and I do not think that my ears should feel any great sense of dispair if I had to use it as my main amplifier. Currently however the 430 is attached to my computer powering a pair of JBL L46's and I am back to my yamaha htr-5540 with the heresy's. To my ear's the sound of the 430 with the heresey's was rather warm with a roundness to the bass that gave the impression of the heresey having a deeper frequency response than I had previously thought. I switched back and forth and forth and back between the yamaha and the H/K on my heresey's. Quite frankly I was torn, The yamaha seems a might bit sterile compared to the h/k yet the wamrth of the little dual powered 430 begins to sound more like a lack of control leading towards a looseness of the sound at higher volumes. The tuner section on the 430 is a wonderful thing indeed. Many a late night I have spent winding down with a splash of scotch keeping company with a couple of icecubes while my ears are treated to some great jazz via fm radio served up by the 430 and the local jazz station(WUCF). The H/K 430 is not without faults but then again what isn't? The peccadillos inherent in the 430 are something I could live with. As Andy has said again and again, the h/k 430 is certainly one of the biggest bangs you can get for your modern day buck. Peace, Josh
  5. Do you want a speaker? They're loud! They're all loud down here!! Peace, Josh

  7. Hmm, There is music, playing my guitar's and electric basses. I currently have, Taylor 310 acoustic guitar Godin A4 Fretless bass Fender Jazz Bazz, 1970's american, w/ seymour duncan active pickups Fender American Tele Plus Electric guitar, from 1991 w/ bookmatched ash body w/ tobbacco sunburst finish Yanaha RB-360 electric bass, for sale Other things that hold my interest include computer graphics and web design(what I'm going to school for). Cars, musclecars and imports, there are a couple of local car clubs I hang out with from time to time. Movies, I see a movie every week at a 75 cent theatre, the regular theatre's are just too expensive. Arcade/video games, not enough time to spend on these. I have to many things I enjoy to be able to do them all on my budget and schedule. Peace, Josh
  8. I thought that the movie was pretty good. But I also think that some of the special effects were pretty bad compared to the rest of the movie. A movie I was really impressed with was Bad Boys II, I was not expecting that much action done that well. The DTS surround sound in BBII was really great as well. Peace, Josh
  9. I'm guessing these cabinets have no drivers in them right now?? Quite a bit of dremel/router use would be needed to put the heresyII component's in the heresyI cabinets if you were going to mount them on the front of the motorboard. The heresyII components are not just mounted on the front but are slightly recessed into the motorboard so that they are flush with the front surface. Also the holes for the mid horn and tweeter would have to be enlarged to make room for the outside of the curvature of the horn. I did this for the tweeters on my heresyI a while ago. I decided to leave the mounting flange on the tweeter non flush so it sticks up just slightly but is not really a problem with the velcro grilles. Another thing to think about is what crossover you are going to use? The heresyI/II components are probably going to be uniquely suited to use with the version specific crossover. I think I slightly prefer the sound of the heresyI over the heresyII although in either flavor the heresy is a great speaker. Peace, Josh
  10. Kelly has retired before. Only to come back after a few months. I would save a bunch of time if I didn't hang out here. Peace, Josh
  11. Your comments make for some interesting reading. Especially for someone that makes do with a sony turntable. Nevertheless, it sounds like a lot of fun. Peace, Josh
  12. I got a 5. That is fine by me. Cold beverages should rate for a number of points. This past week I finally realized what the "crisper" in my fridge is for. A whole lot of beer can be kept "crisp" in the bottom of my fridge. Peace, Josh
  13. My electric bass amp uses a toroidal output transformer and it seems to run rather cool. There is a fan on the top of my amp that is tempature controlled and a friend of mine once surmised that my fan must be broken because it never came on. I proved him wrong one day when we were at the end of a practice session in a concrete block storage room with no air conditioning. After about three and a half hours of playing at well over 100dB( I had ear plugs) the fan finally came on and the top of the amp felt barely warm at all. Toroidal transformers rule btw, Toroidal means that they are made in the shape of a torus(doughnut). Peace, Josh
  14. Actually no, I don't work for microsoft. But I am curious to know why you asked? I'm just a college student who spends his days dreaming of fast cars and ways to make his heresy's even better. Peace, Josh
  15. Maybe you should switch back to the Sansui's Peace, Josh
  16. Those poor giraffes should visit me in florida. Peace, Josh
  17. Hmm, I haven't been spending so much time around the forum lately. But this is just like old times Peace, Josh
  18. Cool, I had my four heresy's like that for awhile. Certainly a lot of impact that way. Peace, Josh
  19. I love me some B.B. King, Good song. And yes it would be slow for dialup users but not for me Peace, Josh
  20. Django Reinhardt is missing! The list is obviously a piece of junk. Leo Kottke should be higher up imo. I've seen him twice and he put on a great show both times. Doc Watson is at #73 C'mon, He should be higher up than that. Peace, Josh
  21. A few of the theaters in my area sell beer at the concession stands. It's pretty nice to be able to sit back with a cold one while watching a new movie. Peace, Josh
  22. H&K makes machine guns. H/K makes audio equipment. I like the sound of my 430. The 430 has a warm pleasing sound for such a low price. I do however think that the bass frequencies tend to be slightly over exaggerated even when the tone controls are set flat. There is a page where you can download many of the H/K manuals here Peace, josh

Is this the vette you are talking about? With that much money into your car you had better have some nice time slips. Good to see you are doing ok. Peace, Josh
