  1. Great. I've lost 4 bulbs in the last few weeks. I just checked a few outlets, they range from 122 to 123.4 v. Could the loss of bulbs be from the cold temperatures?
  2. This is so easy, they will recover either $1,000,000,000,000 or 28 cents. The reason is that you have more numbers that one can count on their hand and everyone knows that an attorney cannot work a calculator to save their life. This is kind of funy, when I took the bar I played my Barbri tapes at work. I thought everyone would be mad but they actually all kept asking me legal questions all day. Who would have guessed?
  3. I gave up on tubes when I realized that high quality SS and Digital is just at good or better without the headaches, especially when picked up on Audiogon.
  4. LOL. Come on Dean. I think the way to do it is to buy the top of the line projector, swap out the lens and the rest of the top end, then change the electronics several times, then sell it for 30 cents on the dollar to get the "Jubilee Version"
  5. I hooked the Behringer to my B&W N801's. I thought that the midrange was outstandign before, just runnign the auto eq with the mic made an immediate improvement. Better balance and even more natural. I didn't have to keep fiddling with it like I did with my K Horns. Highly recommended.
  6. Charlie, I see that you had both a Benchmark DAC1 and a Musical Fidelity A308CR. How did you think that these compared? Thanks, Chris
  7. Funny you posted this. Today I put my Behringer DEQ2496 back into my system. I ran the pink noise with the mic and it does sound smoother with the correction curve. I couldn't tell the midrange was off but the EQ helped. Great unit and for $250 you can't lose. I am not saying that this can make up for you squaker (I am not using horns).
  8. I've decided that 2 channel is my thing, but I still want to set up a theater. I picked up several Klipsch in-wall speakers to blend in to the room. It will be mostly hidden and I'm sure perform a lot more for a lot less than the cute little cubes. I am going to use a Sony digital receiver to drive them and hide subwoofers into the room. Good luce whatever way you go, but $2500 can go pretty far around here. Here are some pretty cheap in walls: http://electronics.search.ebay.com/klipsch_In-Wall-Speakers_W0QQcatrefZC11QQsacatZ14994 A nice receiver to go with them: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4112934 Subwoofer: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-KSW12-Subwoofer-BRAND-NEW-Authorized-Dealer_W0QQitemZ230064375170QQihZ013QQcategoryZ3275QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Get all of the above and you will still have about $1,000 left over to build a Home Theater PC that you can also use for your 2 channel setup.
  9. I am building soem caninets and want to use a polyurethane finish. Is there anything special I should be looking for? I was just going to pick up some minwax at the Home Depot. Other qustion, where can I gte a jig that will alow me to countersink screws at an angle to join pieces of wood? I do nto want to put brads in the front of the cabinets.
  10. Whell, The 700W version has to be the only way to go for a guy like me. I have been torturing my ears for years listening at painful levels so I need more and more power [] In fact I'm currently looking for a way to strap my Lascalas right to my ears like headphones....I just have to work out some type of cart to have them ride on as I move about [6][] I actually had one of the 3402's in my house for a month. I returned it because I had already bought Bryston mono's, but would have kept it otherwise. It is a great amp (and really powerful). My speakers weigh about 225 lbs each so I didn't strap them to my ears.

  12. Getting bored with picking on SET's and need to move on to digital amps?
  13. Come on, more info needed! What soundcard and video card did you use? What case? What operating system? Did you go Windows Media Center with the Remote?
  14. You've always said that, you always had good things to say about it, and I have the feeling if it was junk, that's what you would say. Just curious that's all, next purchase might be a new CD player...................damn forum, got the replace bug.........need spring to get here, get back in car, quit thinking about Stereo stuff.....................will have to check Jolida out.................thanks ODB, I don't think that you will be unhappy with either the Jolida or the AH. Everyone who buys either seems to be happy. Here is one thing that is interesting, people tend to hear what they read about. I read about the benchmark and many said it is harsh, etc. I compare the AH and Benchmark all the time and can live with either long term, regardless of the reviews. The thing I like about the Benchmark is that it has multiple inputs so you can input a CD source and a computer server. Nice feature.
  15. I seem to remember everyone raving about the model just below the RF83's (or maybe the RF7's), it was somehting like RF5 or RF53. I think Mark from Juicymusic had a pair for sale recently. They should pass the WAF.
  16. That is simply a comical statement. The only thing the Ah! uses from Marantz is the chassis, drive and op amps. The same drive is used in many high end players and transports and has been an industry standard. With the upsampler replacing the op amps, the unit is one smooth player imo. Without the upsampler, the unit is not extraordinary but still very good. 4.85 out of 5 on Audio Review with 135 reviews but it 'hurts your ears". That's funny. http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/cd-players/PRD_125042_1586crx.aspx Yes, this is a comical statement. I was considering an Esoteric player and decised that I am crazy because the AH! is so good. I was replying to a post saying that the AH! is "junk" because it is based on a Marantz player. The AH! is was beyond its price point. Make sure you get the upsamler and different tubes (the Russian rockets are the best deal - $15 each). Oddly enough, I also have a Benchmark DAC1 and it is very similar to the AH!. I use Amperex White Label PQ's that are very detailed, that may be the reason. Anyway, big vote for the AH or Benchmark. I can't comment on the Jolida, I hear that it is very good.
  17. I have a pair of Magneplanar SMG's (or MMG's - the small ones). I am the second owner and they are mint. I will sell them for $300 delivered to Salt lake (I am going skiing there in a few weeks). If you want to play with a pair of set up a second system, this is a good chance. Chris
  18. yea, the AH is a real piece of junk because it is just a "reworked" player. You definately don't want one. Mine hurts my ears.
  19. Here is what I have so far: Case: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1710668&Tab=11&NoMapp=0 Remote and display (this is not the exact one need to call tigerdirect) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=1632008&sku=T925-2132 Video Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2412163&Sku=P450-7868 or http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2427578&Sku=P450-7870 Sound Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1618860&CatId=107 need an expansion card for digital stream out. Operating system: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1108025&CatId=672 its only $30 extra for the remote. The regular version is $109. Monitor: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2549197&Sku=A179-2210 Power supply: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1632005&CatId=0 I just picked this one because two reviews said that it was very quiet.
  20. Good. If the crackheads and scumbag thieves don't have a place to liquidate our toys the world is a better place. Let them steal the little Bose cubes.
  21. I'm sure that your measurements are right but you should have 4". A 2 x 4 is 3.5" deep and 1/2" of drywall should yield 4". Worst case you can just make a 1/4" spacer out of wood (or carefully remove teh drywall and use 3/4" wood as a spacer).
  22. The top comes off. I sold mine but the bottom is smal enough to ship by Fed Ex ground is that is your intention. You need to change your signature to "Wanted Belles"
  23. You should go for the higher powered versions. The modified crossovers DO change the "average" efficiency by bringing the squawker and tweeter more in line with the 94 dB woofer. Thanks John. Thats what I was looking for. I really want to get a SET amp for my Heresys. Any ideas on a good amp that is powerful enough? How about the ASL Wave 8's? I had a pair of Wright 3.5 wpc SET's and used them with Heresys for a little while. They worked well for moderate to loud levels. I would say buy a pair of Wrights or others that keep their value in case you decide to sell them if it doesn't work out.
  24. Scooter, One more question. How is the air flow trhrough the Bach case? Will it work well with a video card that does not have a fan? If it is going to be a problem at all I am going to go with the one with the fan.
