  1. The BOSE is not a horn. Its a labyrinth. The labyrinth showed up in a floor standing STROMBERG-CARLSON radio in 1936. Now I wonder where BOSE got his idea?
  2. MOON...Kiss that BOO BOO & Wipe her tears. Shame on you trying to help in the yard. She was only trying to lighten your yard work.
  3. GRIFF....I know what you mean. After 25 years I had enough. I wont go back.
  4. How big is your living room? You,d have to step back pretty to get proper balance. I dont think you,d like the sound THAT close.
  5. Yep i,de get rid of the wife. What a whuss.
  6. DEAR? SWEETHEART? Your all so loving today.
  7. I stoped in ULTIMATE ELECTRONICS in St Louis last weekend to hear RF-7 Salesman says Bass sounds great because its got a passive radiater in the bottem end. I rolled my eyes & walked out.
  8. Your making a bass reflex out of a horn? why dont you just go to a ALTEC A-7 box? HERESY.
  9. Greg Good work. wait till you go 3 way. Dont muck it up with other junk in between drivers & amps.
  10. Yes... The JENSEN 15-LL was a great woofer in the K horn. Paul klipsch & George Ashworth spent a lot of time making that model work. Using DBP on outer surround to lower complience. Im suprised you have that woofer. Who is George ASHWORTH? Thats another collegue who helped in the early days of woofer problems. Remember speaker manufacturs back then were not interested in making special woofer for the KHORN. It was AFTER this STEPHENS took the P 52 & developed the P 52LX2 for Klipsch. And the linage went on from there. It wasnt easy back then for Paul to make each of these woofers to work right & also had to shellack the cones to keep DBP from creeping down into cone. How do I know? I own 155 tech papers & letters on the development of X1, X2, X3 Khorns between Paul Klipsch and Ashworth (chemist & scientist) Who gave support in those early years. These papers go into great detail about those horn developments, high frequency horn development, & woofers and drivers used. As yet I havent published them. I dont know if I should turn them over to University in New Mexico .( Klipsch archive) or what. These are valuble I know. At the moment I still hold on to them undecided. My wife knows not to destroy them if any thing happens to me.
  11. That would be a wise move to correct it now than to be sorry later.
  12. Ive had my share of SUPER TUNERS but the quality of SUPER STATIONS has gon down. I would suggest visiting a radio station to see what they are using. you will be shocked. The radio jocky is more interested in the quality of his voice & mic. used to enhance his dribble than the quality of music going through compressers & limiters & bandwith limiting components. You will be shocked at what they use for CD players , turntables ,& tape cartrages. Yes some still have tape cartrages. So dont invest too mutch on a tuner. even though some great ones are srill being made.
  13. The trusonic was not necessaraly the woofer of choice at that time. Looking back at his tech. papers & letters to certin insiders I found other woofers were used. JENSEN P15-LL comes to mind plus others. These were treated to lower resonence. the k33 is now a spin off to what is now the woofer of choice. you wont be sorry in installing k33 in 59 K horn. Later if you still want to restore or find another trusonic you can do it at your leisure.
  14. Your Klipshorns look great. You,v got to move or remove that window. I can hear it rattlin all the way down here.
  15. I still use RAZER WIRE every thing sounds sharper. AND its the cutting edge of technology.
  16. READ the above slowly it will sink in. BI wireing has no audible redeeming value.
  17. It was a sweet sounding unit. As simple as that.
  18. RANE is balanced third wire is grounded. Unbalanced systems are not & ground is lifted watch out for 60hz hum loops. ALSO some of you are getting confused as to what is BI-WIRE and what is BI-AMP. In a BI-AMPED system you do NOT have a passive X-over in the system. The electronic crossover is placed between the PREAMP & THE AMPS then the speakers connected to each amp. Tweeter amp, Skwaker amp , Woofer amp. On the rane you need to lift ground IF you get noise problems. Thats some of the problems you get into when MIXING Pro gear with unbalanced home gear. AS for as BI-WIRE hook up I dont see or HEAR any SONIC improvement. All you have done is waste another amp with out a true audible improvement. Again be cautious in mixing Pro & home electronics. Thats why I suggested MARCHAND electronic Xovers. But if you want to spend the BIG BUCKS you can go to ACCUPHASE F-25 or KRELL or MARK LEVENSON. (used) Those are true classics E Xovers. Another classic would be a Pioneer D-23 or Nikko 23 if you can find them.
  19. Yes you do have to disconnect the passive xovers befor installing electronic crossover. This will couple your speakers directly to the amps. and will sound cleaner. BUT i dont know if the RANE was a good selection. If its a balanced input/output & connecting to unbalanced systems it can be noisey.. I would have suggested a MARCHAND-X9 electronic Xover.
  20. If the neigbors complain throw them in the lake.
  21. DeanG If so.....Than what was the K-2 , K-3, K-3B . None of the early units had a LOGO. Including one of mine. Remember I go back to mono days. Should we call those MUSEUM HERITAGE units?
