    Is this stupid?

I built one that looks like a large end table, it sits in the corner of the room<24'w 34'd>. It is 5cf ported about about 25" square and the trim 1" thick that goes around it also forms legs on the corners, kind of like the old dressers or chest. But it is about 5" high off of the floor and looks like it is setting on the legs but the the legs or about 1/4" off the floor, it is sitting on 4 casters which you can't see unless you get on the floor and look under it. It is very heavy so this helps to move it around. The strange thing is when you roll it around with it off or unpluged it makes a deep bass sound. The floor is textured concrete and the vibrations echo and come out of the port and has a strange sound. Will post pics of it and the room when more pics are taken, digital camera took a walk ?
  2. Here is one my wife likes also. Steve Winwood / Back in the high life 1980 cd only has 8 songs but has a lite rock / jazz kind of sound, you may recall the song Back in the high life or higher love
  3. MR photo ,Michael don,t jump ship now this place would not be the same without you.
  4. dtel's wife says: This joke really isn't for the guys, but the girls will love it. Dtel said it may already be on the forum somewhere. SICK HUSBAND A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone. He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe disease, combined with horrible stress. If you don't do the following, your husband will surely die." "Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant, and make sure he is in a good mood. For lunch make him a nutritious meal. For dinner prepare an especially nice meal for him. Don't burden him with chores, as he probably had a hard day. Don't discuss your problems with him, it will only make his stress worse. And most importantly, make love with your husband several times a week and satisfy his every whim." If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely. On the way home, the husband asked his wife. "What did the doctor say?" "You're going to die," she replied. and one more: Husband and wife are waiting at the bus stop with their nine children. A blind man joins them after a few minutes. When the bus arrives, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids are able to fit onto the bus. So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, "Why don't you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy." The blind man replies, "If you would've put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we'd be riding the bus ... so shut the hell up."
  5. I dont think this guy knows what he has. Item #5794536137 3 oak oil academys and 8" sub and 2 stands,5 days left no bin bidding is at $99.00. He could just be playing stupid but he could get more if he sold them one at a time. I will keep up with this one but fear the price will get very high. I could use 1 academy for center but will not pay to much for one because i could fit another forte ll. It seems I could buy 2 forte ll's for the price of one academy.
  6. If klipsch wanted to sell any heritage speakers the could have at least one store in the town of the home office even if they ran it. Even better have one store they operate which has every model the want to sell set up like it should be, at least their would be somewhere you know you could go. If you were going to spend thousands it would not be to crazy to make a trip to be sure what model/finish you may want.
  7. Eric clapton & BB king , Riding with the king Very good recording
  8. Mel brooks History of the world part 1
  9. my imho is better than your imho send them all here , need address
  10. forte ll 15'back------------they are about 15' apart
  11. Forte ll Never heard the original how does compare to the ll.
  12. Sorry forgot to add i also very much like the forte, i don,t feel like i miss ANYTHING with movies or music, can,t wait to have them all match.
  13. I asked the same question a while back and still not sure. I have the forte ll and my reciever only has a crosover at 100, the lfe is set to both mains and sub but i haven,t played a movie with low bass yet. With music with multi ch recordings< dvd >sounds better than just set to sub only so movies should also sound better. But like you what if a movie has lfe well below what the forte can handle what will happen, i don,t want to find out the hard way. Will very low bass or lfe well below what a speaker can handle do, will it just not try to reproduce it or will it bottom out the driver and or hurt it?

    db spl

Thanks Colterphoto1 the 110 was just to see where it was on the reciever, could never listen like that. I will keep it down to not cause problems, and i do wear norton ear phones for protection when cutting grass or weadeating or anything loud to save what hearing i have left. If the family is home i am luckey to get it to 80db, it would have to be a song they really like. Also Colter if i diden't respect your opinion i would not read and believe what you say,you are one of the people here you can trust, you always try to help. Anyway look around your house you have a big enough collection to know what you are talking about. I feel like i should get a price from you when looking for speakers! A while back I had thought about asking if any were for sale no joke .

ok no one was home, so i took out the rs spl meter. I read a while back about different levels people perfered went back and could not find it. So i put on a music dvd, eagles latest , to check what i normaly listen at it turns out i like it around 100 to 105 db,for short periods of time. With meter set to slow-c the reading is 100db with the reciever set to -29 with the reciever set to -16 it's 110db and very loud. < yamaha rxv730 > The songs that i played were and < dirty laundry > the both have a good bit of bass does that raise the the reading more than something whith less bass? Does this volume sound way out of the average , i have been called half deaf but i think it is more in the higher freq. It really don't sound right till around 100db, I never claimed to be normal.
  16. Just a question what sounds better hersey or forte ll, i ask because the heresy is considered heritage?
  17. From reading all on this subject i will do the same. I was looking to get away from the synergy i have and not even hearing any other klipsch except rf7 rc7 rs7 i bought a pair of forte ll . I wasen't looking for forte ll but from what i read i coulden't go wrong at $325 ebay bin local. This was the only local i have ever seen and it was pointed out on this forum and came with a good refferal about the seller from this forum {fastlane thanks}. I love the forte ll ,my wife listened to them for about 10 seconds and said replace all the rest in the 6.1 you can't beat that. Now too find more of the same, thought about a academy center but for the price i can get 2 forte ll, and the center forte ll would sound better. So thanks to all again.
  18. This may be a stupid question but did anyone check with Klipsch? sorry if i missed something.
  19. Try new orleans or the gulf coast in july or aug, it is under 100 deg but the humidity is always very high, if you work outside you must take a break about 10 min out of 20 and drink all the water you can stand. I have to the south west where it was over 100 every day and it diden't feel this bad.
  20. Thanks for the help, i did look at bb and sears and when looking at 20 or so different tv's it's kind of hard so see a big difference because they are all get the same signal. They all look a little different, so many different brands and they is no telling how they are set. The quality of the picture we get now seems to differ from channel to chanel, never even close to dvd quality. The tv is a 65" toshiba it has a built in hd tuner, but we live at the very edge of the range of an outdoor antenna. I guess when they get a few more channels of hd we will have to try it, cable or dish who ever has the best deal at the time, from other threads it sounds like it will be some type of dish. Thanks for the help And WS65711 thanks for the offer to see your mits, i may have to take You up on the offer one day, thanks again.
  21. Was talking with my wife last night about switching from cable to sat dish if they come out with more hd. She said she doesn't think there would much of a difference in the picture, basic cable vs hd dish. Never seen hd on the new tv what do you think?
