  2. Mark, kids read tons of books in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. IF they stay in an English track in high school, ie college prep, they will hit four or more great books each year. Most kids get exposure to higher basic math principles at work, like running a cash register. Being a bank clerk is great for errors, as after three or four weeks of running a drawer, tellers learn the ins and outs of how to recognize errors in their drawers, and how to avoid fraudsters. Calculating percentages is a concept not normally used, so even the more advanced students often don't get it. However, if you pay for your own car expenses, or pay down a note, or work after school running a register, you learn the concept inside out after two days.
  3. Moray, do you need a University, fully loaded? I have one I want to unload.
  4. Bill, I believe Imperial was one of the badge engineer brands for Allied/Radio Shack. While a delightful and cute example of a mono integrated from the 50s, I would move it at $40 to $50. Being mono, it would especially lend itself to high school guitarists looking for a head for their guitar rig. I would put it in Craigslist under musical instruments, so it would sell fast. You may consider doing what I did, where you try to keep everything in a single thread. It makes it easier on you keeping track of everyone responding.
  5. Jim, having just gone through this, it is impossible to keep track of two or three websites, what you post in PM, and what you email, unless you keep a logbook. Cut him some slack, please.
  6. Tall crow, one thing to note is asking price pivots off of working condition. In the Midwest, the last three sets of working Bozak concert grands I have laid hands on that were sold in the past year went for $2500, $2200, and $1850, respectively. Cosmetic condition and whether they work will either make the sale easy, or keep them at your house a long time. Glws
  7. Jim, there are three inputs - two line (tape and tuner) and one RIAA phono. It is a push pull EL84 project, with working iron and no tubes. If you want to learn about tubes and how to (re)build a tube amp, this is a great starter platform to learn on, at minimal costs. Sorry, Earl, i left out one word that muddled the sentence.
  8. Ben did, and his mom taught him to bring enough solder for everyone. It will need the power filter caps replaced, as one side has a low hum. I would also reflow all the connections while you are under the hood. The big strength with this unit is it has the hugely desired Tamron iron, which is quite good, the best Japanese iron out there.
  9. Everything left is a good deal.....but only if you buy it.
  10. You could start and end with the Funk Brothers. I was born in '61, and grew up on Motown. These guys WERE Motown, and never got the credit in America. Growing up in the midwest, everyone wanted to be Motown. Even the dorky white boys with two left feet had dreams of throwing down a slick choreographed dance step like the slick chills in all the Motown acts.
  11. What HH Scott? Musta been edited out...
  12. It's not global warming, it is global climate change. And you are seeing a good example of the change.
  13. Back to the top. Isn't anyone interested in the Sun Audio with Klipsch speakers?
  14. Joe, knowing that you had the chance to love and cherish Pat is one of the greatest gifts the Lord could give you. In time, as your pain lessens, you again will realize this, and be comforted by the love you shared with her, and your kids. Peace. Dave
  15. I have 1963/64 Khorns, with Jensen P15LL woofers, and the new K400s. By 1965 k400s were in their third year.
  16. Oh, I know all about the waste. This department was created as a boondoggle to shuttle friends and political appointees in to share the swill at the trough. Another federal agency was created, which meant tens of thousands of friends, cronies, and RetiredInPlacers could continue on in government service and be rewarded with countless benefits, huge pensions, and great pay for holding planning meetings all day. I went to a DHS walkthrough with a local NEST response team assisting, as an observer. It was quite funny watching the Radiation safety expert from DHS and the PhD scientist from the NEST team try to set up and run a field ISOCS radiation gamma counter. Each was trying to bluff the other into having a go at it, when neither knew fully how to get it anywhere past being powered up and talking to the computer. After an hour watching them **** up everything they could, two of us tagalong observers walked over, cleared all the false starts. led the computer down the right sequence, field source checked the detector, verified the QA checks were accomplished and logged, and initiated a first background sample count in about twelve minutes. Fortunately, neither of us had the clearance nor advanced degree to be qualified to do the job....except we both do it for a living, unlike the guys who couldn't do it but are paid to do such. Go figure, eh? These are the units the NEST team will drive or fly out to as the expert first responders, in the event of a dirty bomb, nuclear event, or terrorist threats. In the hands of someone who can crack the whip on it, we could find nuclear bombs in a sealand. These guys couldn't find Seakist in a tuna can.
  17. The only problem with "paid vacation" is some people need their biweekly paycheck biweekly. And the very people living check to check are the ones that won't get their checks. The majority of "essential" workers are getting paid at a higher scale, in many cases, and mostly are a bit better insulated from having a hiccup in their pay.
  18. We have added a few more items, and divorced the SAEC WE308 tonearm if anyone is interested.
  19. A lot of the trade reps at AXPONA are relatively new, or smaller, or more high end than Klipsch. Under PWK, Klipsch was almost adamantly anti-shows, and it seems this has carried over into the present marketing strategies. However, I wince when I see Klipsch's marketing material over the past decade. It seems to be a lot of breathless boy talk, with too much flash, dash, and braggadocio.
  20. Dave, that is about what we do with Liam. When he figured out his computer and Wii time were totally driven by grades and be responsible, he went from a 2.7 in fifth grade to a 3.9 in sixth grade. He has a house key and has done well when home alone.
  21. Kaiser, the back rack is all my more pedestrian gear, and not part of the estate. As much gear as we are handling from this estate, there isn't enough room in our 1500 Sq. ft house to have everything segregated.
  22. Cunetto's is always a great simple Italian dinner for cheap, Iain. You can always work your way up the expense chain, but cheap and great also is good. I've found one of the best ways to listen to good music is to have a nice Ted Drewes frozen custard in your lap.
