HI all! I recently acquired these Klipsch La Scala loudspeakers built in the 80's ('88 possibly). They are in immaculate condition and are in their original shipping boxes. Unfortunately they have the original AL crossover, which I've read isn't ideal. That being said, I'm curious what the current/fair going rate is for these. I've read they could be worth between $1500-$3000 depending on the condition. Images here: https://imgur.com/a/EICP5qN

Ok, so I have a set of majestic Klipshorns, but have always wanted a set of La Scalas that I can haul around to friends houses, have outside at parties, take to work, etc. I have a spare set of K33's, K55's / K401's, and K77's, along with a set of AA crossovers that all need cabinets for a home. After I saw the splits I knew that that's how I'd like to have them. I found a pair of empty but severely beat up La Scala factory cabinets near me, and with the help of a friend (thanks, @Hornographic) we retrieved them. These things even have a bit of mold on them and a hideous gloss paint job. I'll update this thread as I go (with pictures), assuming anyone is interested.

Hi Folks, I recently considered buying a single Klipschorn, and the fine members of this forum were very helpful about what I could / could not do with my wife's Honda Fit. As a service to others, I'm starting this thread to talk about cargo space and what it takes to haul some of the larger Klipsch speakers. Inquiring minds will want to know: Size of vehicle openings - trunks, hatches, doors, etc. (width x height of narrowest part) Cargo dimensions: width x length x height, free of any obstacles such as wheel wells Which Klipsch speakers will safely fit in said vehicle Tricks for angling stuff in for maximum hauling potential Where to rent / who on this board is crazy enough to help you in your local area

Andrew typically reviews AVR type stuff with 2-channel gear sprinkled about from time to time. When I first started getting into hi-fi about four years ago, I watched everything he put out, but over time I moved towards 2-channel I watched less and less. He tends to use language coloring that just doesn't make common sense in a lot of reviews. Almost like he's trying to best himself from previous reviews. This is different. The tone and tenor of the review is different. I swear, there is an emotional vibe in this entire video that warrants a watch. Please watch it, you owe it to yourself if you're a Heritage fan!

Possibly looking to see if anyone is interested in trading a pair of Khorns for a pair of piano black La Scalas. These were professionally painted and the caps have been upgraded on the crossovers. Still have all original caps and badges. One of a kind La Scalas that are functionally and cosmetically beautiful. Located in Central NY. Possibly may sell them but literally just entertaining offers right now unless the right number comes along. I have a pair of Khorns I have my eyes on.

These crossovers came out of my vintage La Scala speakers. I replaced the oil cans with the recommended JEM caps a few months ago, and the sound is excellent. The JEM caps are just a cut above my original oil can caps in audio quality, probably because of their age. My wiring skills will not win a beauty contest, but these crossovers work flawlessly. $175 shipped anywhere in the continental USA. I can accept Zelle, or PayPal if you're willing to pay the fees. I'm also selling the K-55-V drivers and K-77 tweeters separately in two other Garage Sale posts.

Hello, I have a pair of 1980 vintage BR LaScala's that were working just fine until yesterday. One of the woofers stopped working. Does anyone have an idea how to troubleshoot where the problem might be? Removing the woofer on these speakers is a chore and I want to make sure i take all the correct steps in troubleshooting before I do anything. THanks in advance. Best, b

Hi Im hoping for a pair of La Scala AL5 to be delivered, but before they arrive I want to have glass tops made by my local glass workshop. I showed them the La Scala spec sheet with the manufactures size dimensions. They suggested that I should not go with the dimension listed in the spec sheet, but do an actual measurement when the sparkers arrive. Does anyone know if there any significant variance between the dimensions listed in the spec sheet and the actual dimensions (ie the tops) of units that would suggest that I should not use the printed spec dimensions?

Cabinets and speaker grills are in presentable condition for their age. I found the Bob Crites crossovers are a nice upgrade. I do not have the factory risers. I replaced then rubber furniture feet. The sound incredible. I've used them with several different amps/receivers. They're currently hooked up to a push pull integrated EL-34 amplifier. Happy to demo. Calling or texting is my preferred method of communication. No emails please. My mobile is 805-208-9713. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY! They weigh 89 lbs each and I'm in an upstairs condo. You must be able to move them yourself. And I assume NO liability for injuries. Bring a dolly.

Hi folks, good day... Open Baffle speaker guy here wants to experiment with a La Scala bottom. Quick question, please: For the Eminence Kappa 15C as the woofer, are the 1977 La Scala plans are suitable without modification/adjustment/resizing? Bass bin size? Slot size? Thanks!

Hello everyone, For those who are interested, I am unfortunately parting ways with my Dad's speakers because of their size I cannot move them with me into my new condo. Starting with the first pair which are the Klipschorns my dad purchased them from the original owner in 1984 and were made in 1977 based on the serial numbers. The Serial Number stickers are on both pairs of Klipschorns as well. The only replacement parts on the Klipschorns are a pair of Bob Crites Crossover's which I installed them back in 2016 other than that they are in original condition and in excellent working order. The second pair which are the La Scala's my dad purchased back in the early 2000's again same as the Klipschorns my dad purchased them from their original owners. Both pairs of La Scala's are in original condition and in excellent working order. The Serial Number stickers are on both pairs of La Scala's as well. I will list the info, serial numbers etc below as well as contact info for those who are interested. I am asking $5,000 for the Khorn pair & $5,000 for the LaScala pair or best offer. I currently live in CT, but for anyone interested in the tri-state area or on the east coast this is your chance. If anyone outside of the northeast area is interested, I will work with you regarding shipping. I know these loud speakers aren't for sale that often, and both pair's would be an excellent edition to your home theater setup so that you can enjoy them as much as my dad and our family have enjoyed them over the years. Thanks, Jeff P.S. Feel free to contact me via email for more info, or pictures at durkinj56@gmail.com Klipschorn: Type: KBWO Serial: 10R518, 10R519 La Scala: Type: LS-BL Serial: 8511790, 8511791

Lets face it: prices on heritage Klipsch speakers have gotten out of hand. I have 2 pairs that could sell for triple what I paid but I didn't buy them to make money so I will continue to enjoy them and maybe improve them instead of moving up the food chain because I cannot afford to. Its a free market so whatever someone is willing to pay dictates value.

What is the best La Scala replacement Woofer? Eminence Kappa 15C vs. Goldwood GW 15PC? Hey everyone: Original Klipsch La Scala K-33 woofer frequency range starts at 47 Hz Eminence Kappa 15C woofer is 63 to 2,800Hz https://www.parts-express.com/Eminence-KAPPA-15C-15-Driver-4-Ohm-290-459?gclid=Cj0KCQjwk4yGBhDQARIsACGfAetqN1ctJTSiuoJtilclZaFs9RwDwchTxtUsqBsVA2FHFlVmKAywy9MaApPbEALw_wcB Goldwood GW 15PC is 25 Hz - 2500 Hz https://www.midwestspeakerrepair.com/shop/home-audio/woofers/15-1-woofers/goldwood-gw-15pc-15-heavy-duty-woofer/ It appears that using the Eminence Kappa 15C you'll loose 20 Hz on the bottom end. The La Scala's need as much low end as possible so why are these replacement woofers o highly recommended? I can't speak for the Goldwoods clarity or performance because I have never used/heard them installed in a La Scala but did notice their specs on paper look better than the Eminence Kappa 15C. Wouldn't the Goldwood GW-15 PC be a better choice for a replacement woofer?

I'm not on Facebook but peruse the Marketplace on occasion. They have listed these off and on for over a year. Southern Utah area. $200 for the pair seems like a pretty good deal? Speakers - Speakers & Subwoofers - Cedar City, Utah | Facebook Marketplace | Facebook

I had planned to purchase RF7-III and center and subwoofer for home theater. This just popped up locally - thoughts? Stick with the RF7-III plan or these?

I am currently selling my Klipsch La Scalas which I purchased new in 1979. Cosmetically, they are far from perfect, (with some chips in the top ply at edges and watermarks on the tops) in the original unfinished birch as I always preferred the look rather than staining them. Anyone with basic wood skills could make them beautiful again, however I have no such skills! I am located in Maryland, and would prefer a local pickup, but motor freight or some other method of delivery could be arranged. The crossovers are type AA, they still sound awesome and there are have been no modifications to the speakers at all. I am asking $2500 $2400 for the pair. Hello, I’m browsing for a pair of la scalas within a reasonable 6-7 hour drive from New Orleans. I haven’t set a budget or year yet as I don’t 100% know what I’m looking for. I just recall seeing them as a kid in the ‘80s and always wanting a pair. Thanks, CJ

Took over 5 years of collection, finally completed my 9.2.4 Home Theatre with Klipsch speakers (minus the subs). : ) I had some RF62 and RC62s initially and @Youthman inspired me to do v2 w/ La Scala. I was fortunate to find a couple La Scala from an original owner to kick start it and rest fell in place after. I originally had Yamaha surrounds and ceilings and those were the last ones to be replaced. I thought ceiling won't matter much.. oh boy, was I wrong. Love those 8" pro-180 RPCs, appreciate the bass from those ATMOS heights for sure! Lastly, I think for my size of room where surrounds are relatively close to seating, the RP surrounds with the dispersion sounded better compared to my original in-walls. I may look to have a couple more acoustic panels to cut down reflections more in time. What's next? Gonna enjoy the newly released 25th anniversary Gladiator and Braveheart to test it out. : ) Receiver: Denon AVR-X8500H LCR: Klipsch La Scala w/ Crites CT120 and A/4500 crossover Front Wides: Klipsch RP-600m Surrounds (L, R, RL, RR): Klipsch RP-502s Top (FL, FR, RL, RR): Klipsch Pro-180 RPC Subwoofers: SVS PB-16 & PSA v1501df Projector: BenQ: HT3550 Screen: Elite 1080P3 120" 16:9 Cheers and hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying their HT!

Simple question How was the Dog House attached to the plywood box in the 1967 La Scala's My guess is that they were only glued and not screwed. My recently acquired 43 year old La Scala's were severally abused as in a stage speaker or even a bar room speaker. My plan is to put ½ inch MDF on all exterior box areas, except the Dog House. This will provide a additional sound damping and a clean even space to apply a furniture quality veneer. Is there any advantage to screw in the dog house from the bottom if it was only glued Thanks
