Chicago_Pete
Im sure that this isn't everyone's cup of tea but I know a few of you guys dig vintage gear.Took me over 7 years to find a matching JBL equipment cabinet for my Sovereigns. Now if I can talk the wife into some orange shag carpet.Impersonate Austin Powers here: Yeah Baby! oldenough
Very stylish Pete...I like it a lot...How's it sound??
Chicago_Pete
Thanks. They sound pretty amazing on female vocals, horns, piano. Basically a two way system. 15" woofer, 15" passive, 1" horn that I believe crosses over at 500.
capo72
I just drooled on myself and pissed my pants. That is sweeeet. I love JBL stuff from that era. All I have right now is some beat up C-38's with the 030 set-up in them. Your gear always amazes me! Don't neglect us dreamers, keep showing pictures of your awesome gear. fini
Nice, Pete! I passed up a pair of those, maybe 8 years ago. At the time I think they wanted $1500? Too much back then.

lakedmb
Very cool setup! Was there a time when you felt like giving up on your search, 7 years is a long time?
Moderators dtel Posted March 3, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2009 Very nice looking speakers and the room looks great the way it's arranged. [Y]
Chicago_Pete
Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated. Lakedmb, never really thought about giving up the hunt, had a line on a couple over the years so I knew they were out there. I was fortunate to find one local and have it be in very nice condition for a 40 year old piece of furniture.
oldenough
I keep on coming back here to look at this set-up of Pete's, what a nice blend of the old and modern. For years now i have lusted and yearned over the JBL Paragon, and have on two occassions been within a hairs breath of pulling the trigger on one that was within driving distance of me. What stopped me?? I'm married and want to stay that way. Pete you just may have put a crack in the door large enough to start inching in my Paragon. My wife also thought that your set-up looked very stylish. PS I have never even had the opportunity to hear a Paragon, anyone here done so? Chicago_Pete
Never heard a Paragon. Really liked the looks of them. Had a pair of Olympus S8R that share the same 375 driver with the paragonThey were overpowering in my room.Way back around 1974 the Chicago Playboy Mansion closed and was turned into condos. I remember seeing a pic of a Paragon in the bottom of the empty swimming pool. The workers just heaved all the leftover furniture into the pool. What a shame. That's just sick. I'd rather see Holly, Kendall and Bridget thrown out. Oops! They left on their own!
