CECAA850
You can see the compartment for the driver is starting to form.
CECAA850
The baffle for the driver. You'll note that there's no T-nuts or mount hohes installed yet. Remember, this is just a dry fit and will be completely disassembled when the last panel has been fit.
CECAA850
The front panel had to be beveled where it contacts the mouth. I believe it was around 7 degrees.
CECAA850
So far so good.
CECAA850
At this point I just HAD to set the top panel on just to see how it would look. I wanted to put something in the pic for reference so I stuck a 5 gallon pain next to it. I also wanted to make a comment about the "work platform" I used. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a $17.00 furniture dolly rated at 1000lbs to set the sub on. I can spin and move the sub effortlessly around the garage. An absolute necessity when your wife wants to park inside every night.
CECAA850
OK last pic for tonight, it's been a long day, This pic shows where I've pulled the box completely apart and have started going back together for the last time. Here's the first panel permanently glued in place. More pics tomorrow.
Groomlakearea51
Serious good stuff!!! [Y][Y][Y] I am so tempted...... but I have no space left where I could get away with anything like that without throwing out stuff like furniture.... LOL!!! tragusa3
Thanks for documenting! It's fun to watch it go together. I should have gotten a dolly like that years ago. Would have saved my butt and my back more than once.

Would have saved my butt and my back more than once. $17.00 well spent as far as I'm concerned. The only problem I had with it was after the box was built and I started planing and sanding, I had to chase the box around the garage!!! I ended laying some rugs out and taking it off the dolly when the finish work started and had my son help me turn it everytime I'd work another side. Thaddeus Smith
please make sure you sign and date the sub, somewhere inside the driver compartment (since I won't be painting in there).
CECAA850
please make sure you sign and date the sub, somewhere inside the driver compartment (since I won't be painting in there). Will do, hadn't thought of that. There's a bunch of pencil marks and writing on the inside already but mostly scribble. There's even some penciling on the outside but I knew it'd get covered up. psg
Sweet!! I'd use Baltic birch if I were to do it... This would be the sub I would build now if i hadn't built the THT. Thanks for the heads-up via PM!! I will follow your progress closely!
Thaddeus Smith
all of this positive attention makes me that much happier to be the recipient.
CECAA850
Back to the pics. This next pic wasn't taken to show how sloppy I am, most could tell all ready without me pointing it out. I just wanted to show what good "squeeze out" looks like. Air leaks are a no-no with any sub. If you have a good bead of adhesive all along the seam after clamping or screwing, you know your good to go.
CECAA850
Still trying to keep things as square as possible. You've got about 30 minutes to make adjustments with PL Premium where you don't have to worry about breaking the seal.
CECAA850
I normally do 1 panel a day. If I had more clamps I would do more. The pocket screws did a great job of holding the bottom however sometimes I need to tweak the tops to keep them square. It's not much, but it's needed.
