Merry Christmas!

Wishing a

Merry Christmas to all my forum friends! And while wishing this I am remembering all

the times that I was on guard duty, pulling CQ or CQ runner, during the

holidays while in the military far from home.

I am also remembering the years I spent in the desert and how I was on

duty during those holidays, normally ensuring one or more individuals were able

to depart theater in a timely manner while heading home for an emergency leave

at the absolute worst time of the year for that need to occur! But, I was the lucky one throughout all those

years of service…not once during the holidays did I ever receive any fire or

have to return any fire! And I count

that as one of my many blessings! I also

ask that my friends here reflect on this and remember that, although the vast

majority of us will be safe at home with family and friends during this time of

joy and celebration, please remember those who will NOT be doing so…the ones

who are separated from their loved ones by many miles due to work or military

duty, and the ones who will be on guard duty, performing CQ duties, manning a

post in a combat zone and taking turns eating so that their buddies remain

secure…and so that WE ALL REMAIN SECURE!

Please keep THEM in your prayers throughout this season!

Andy,

Thanks for posting. I'm really glad you are here. and thank you for your service to the country and reminding us of those who are serving at this moment so we can remain secure and enjoy the family time as we do.

Blessings this Christmas!

God bless us, every one! -- Tiny Tim

Having served myself, I can only say "Amen" to this as well. I've fortunatly never had to take fire or return fire as well.

At the same time, I was truly blessed to have got to spend time with both my parents and my younger brother and his family for this Christmas.

Thank you and hoping you have/had a wonder Christmas yourself.

this morning, i was remembering days past of having duty on Christmas Day. Over a 20 year stint in the Coast Guard, i'm sure that i've worked on every holiday more than once. You know, it doesn't suck so bad when you have a bunch of shipmates that are away from home too. Never played professional sports; but, the commaraderie (especially shipboard assignments) can be pretty awesome.
