jwc
Seti. So you have the K31's loaded and wired up?
seti
Seti. So you have the K31's loaded and wired up? Yes sir loaded and wired. I really need to get some time to do a quick curve of these puppies so I can see where it wants to crossover exactly. I've found two big round horns for 300hz-350hz one is Le Cleach and the other a tractrix. They sure are big 8-)
bracurrie
So, what driver are you going to test with? Brad
Guest David H
So, what driver are you going to test with? I will be doing the initial testing with Eminence PSD3006 Dave
Guest David H
I started testing today on the Eliptrac 240 with the Eminence PSD 3006 Distortion test, using 400Hz sine at 105DB Frequency response 200-20K Intended use range 400-6K Overall listening test incomplete, initial impression -Very good. bracurrie
Dave, Was just curious, sorry if this is a dumn question, but why that driver? Why not go for a driver than goes higher? Say the Faital JF200. Its impressed me from midrange on up on your Eliprac 400 a lot.
Guest David H
Was just curious, sorry if this is a dumn question, but why that driver? Several reasons... This is the only 2 inch driver I currently have on hand. The PSD 3006 has smooth response 400-6khz+, perfect for midrange use, and is relatively inexpensive. This Eliptrac 260 horn was designed for midrange use in a 3-way system. This Eliptrac 260 may be usable 2-way, however I suspect it will beam at higher frequencies. bracurrie
Dave, Oh. I get it. My ignorance showing though. Thoughts on what would go well for the tweeter?
Guest David H
Thoughts on what would go well for the tweeter? I intend to use this with the Eliptrac HF or my ContracT lens. Dave
bracurrie
Maybe try Faital HF200 drivers. No beam at all on the 400s.
Guest David H
Maybe try Faital HF200 drivers. No beam at all on the 400s. The Faital HF200 is a good driver, however beaming is a result of the horn flair. Dave
Guest David H
I took the Eliptrac 240 to Johnny 5's place to demo with his ProPhile 41's. Good times.... Dave
babadono
Dave.. ah Dave....what are you up to Dave? Will we soon have a K-402 sized eliptrac?
Guest David H
Will we soon have a K-402 sized eliptrac? If it were not for Craig from Nos Valves pushing for this horn, it probably never would have happened, so I doubt it. Dave

djk
"Will we soon have a K-402 sized eliptrac?" Adamson made one (MH225) with a Kevlar 8" cone driving the elliptical mid horn, and a TAD4001 driving the smaller elliptical HF horn. The were designed by Dr Geddes, and show up from time-to-time on eBay. http://www.prosoundweb.com/images/uploads/PSWAdamsonMH225.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Adamson-MH225-Loudspeakers-NIce-price-reduced-/00/s/MTYwMFgxMTk1/$(KGrHqFHJCEFBkWMgkZRBQjt3pMv3!~~60_35.JPG http://www.grace-audio.com/products-items.php?page=0&v_accion=&id=I&cat=&sca=&mar=&catx=&bus=&acc=&prog=1462&ord= Edited December 19, 2013 by djk
Guest David H
They sound very nice, I had the oportunity to compare the Eminence driver to the B&C DE-85-tn, the Eminence held it's own nicely against the 2-way capable DE-85-tn. Other than listening no testing was done. Dave

Guest David H
There is an awful lot of fascination with big horns lately. Whats the deal? Am I missing something? Are there a lot of cabs out there that wont make it to 300hz? Or....are the rumors true? Dave
