Seti.

So you have the K31's loaded and wired up?

Yes sir loaded and wired.

I really need to get some time to do a quick curve of these puppies so I can see where it wants to crossover exactly. I've found two big round horns for 300hz-350hz one is Le Cleach and the other a tractrix. They sure are big 8-)

I started testing today on the Eliptrac 240 with the Eminence PSD 3006

Distortion test, using 400Hz sine at 105DB
Frequency response 200-20K
Intended use range 400-6K

Overall listening test incomplete, initial impression -Very good.

Was just curious, sorry if this is a dumn question, but why that driver?

Several reasons...

This is the only 2 inch driver I currently have on hand.

The PSD 3006 has smooth response 400-6khz+, perfect for midrange use, and is relatively inexpensive.

This Eliptrac 260 horn was designed for midrange use in a 3-way system.

This Eliptrac 260 may be usable 2-way, however I suspect it will beam at higher frequencies.

Will we soon have a K-402 sized eliptrac?

If it were not for Craig from Nos Valves pushing for this horn, it probably never would have happened, so I doubt it.

"Will we soon have a K-402 sized eliptrac?"

Adamson made one (MH225) with a Kevlar 8" cone driving the elliptical mid horn, and a TAD4001 driving the smaller elliptical HF horn. The were designed by Dr Geddes, and show up from time-to-time on eBay.

They sound very nice, I had the oportunity to compare the Eminence driver to the B&C DE-85-tn, the Eminence held it's own nicely against the 2-way capable DE-85-tn.

Other than listening no testing was done.

There is an awful lot of fascination with big horns lately.

Whats the deal? Am I missing something?

Are there a lot of cabs out there that wont make it to 300hz?

Or....are the rumors true? :D
