Marvel
Really nice! We have some nice older wood framed churches around here in north Georgia that I would like to get pics of. Beautiful in their simplicity. Bruce

Marvel
Ermita Church, Manila, Philippines. The church is home to the Marian image of Our Lady of Guidance, (Nuestra Señora de Guia), which is considered to be the oldest Marian image in the Philippines, and in whose honor the church is officially named after and dedicated to. The original church was destroyed may times due to fires, earthquakes, WWII. The current building was finished in 1953.

JL Sargent
Marvel, I really like that picture in the Chinese market. Here is a photo I took last night of a cute young lady at the concession stand of our basketball game.
Marvel
That's a great shot! Here's some more from China... Taken in Jindezhen, the "Capital of Porcelain". Some of stuff made here is absolutely stunning, and done in small facilities. Small, large, murals done in ceramics...
BigStewMan
Bruce -- that is a HUGE plate your wife is standing in front of. Looks to be about a six foot diameter? I wonder if they pray for no earthquakes...how sad that would be to have all that fall.
Marvel
Yeah, that plate is huge (I looked to see if I had a shot all the way to her feet... she is 4' 9"... maybe I can measure her from her knees. ). We get a lot of the junk stuff over here, but they can make gorgeous pieces. This town has some really cool old buildings. Sadly, China has a habit of bulldozing everything to build something new that they can rent for more money.
Marvel
Here's the bowl that goes with it... It's a little blurry, but you can see the size. How about a bowl of Wheaties?
Marvel
There is 'china' everywhere..., and other friends who traveled for the day, along with one of their Chinese students.
JL Sargent
The amount of beautiful architectural roof structure detail is amazing on those buildings. Would love to visit China someday.
Marvel
Tea set that my wife received when she left her job in China. the cups are double walled with an air space in them so they won't be as hot to the touch.
JL Sargent
My goodness. How do they make double walled china?
Marvel
Beats me how they do it. These could be made with a porcelain slurry in a mold for all I know, but here is the top and a bottom pic. You can see the little vent hole in the bottom.
