Olds had their own 215.
DizRotus
Quote A local guy was building a 2/3 scale P-38 powered by twin 215s. Sadly, I think he died before it was completed.

That 1962 Buick Indy car is at the IMS Museum. Right now its down in the basement which very few people are allowed down there. I cant wait til its rotation comes up again. I have never seen it in person. Thanks for posting that article, I have seen it before but it was old and tattered. I now have it saved. I believe it was named the Harvey Aluminum Special.
DizRotus
The Olds had 6 bolts per cylinder on its heads, whereas Buick had 5. You could bolt Buick heads to an Olds, but not the other way around. The nail valve Buick produced more torque than the Olds.

The 510 lbs ft 1970 455 and every engine they make. Of course the engineers got a bit strange when they put the torque on the air cleaner lid instead of cubes like every other manufacture. Messes people up to this day.

Davis
Except the 425 dual quad nailhead air cleaner said "Super Wildcat" This is not my car, ironically I can not find a good air cleaner pic of mine. nor is this a good pic either.

Davis
I guess this more appropriate for a music based website.
DizRotus
A college friend was a real SOB -- son of a Buick dealer. He always drove the latest Buick. My favorite was a 70 GS 455 Stage 2, IIRC.

DizRotus
No Buick discussion is complete without mentioning TV Tommy Ivo. If one Buick is good, four must be better. I saw Ivo's dragster in both its original iteration and its repurposing as the "Riviera Wagonmaster." Lots of smoke.
Davis
Absolutely, TV Tommy is the coolest man ever! also the nicest. I would love to talk to him. I have that diecast in my show cabinet. Tommy hurt his back in that car and Norm Day substitute drove the rest of the season. He then took the car back to Middleton, IN and stored it for years in his gas station. I knew Norms name as he owned the speed shop. The Holy Grail of Buicks was 15 miles from my house and I never knew it.
