paul79
Surprised at the change to Auricap XO! I know these Copper Jupiter's sound awesome in the NBS. What sonic goal did you achieve with the XO's, if you don't mind me asking?
mark1101
I loved the Jupiter mid-range and rich sound. I felt the emphasis was rolled off on the top end. I have already installed my auricaps and the NBS / system now sounds more balanced top to bottom. More like what I am used to (Peach) and what I tuned my system to. I am really just getting back into passive components and I am finding now they flavor these caps just like the microbrews. The Jupiters are like a Guinness. FAT. But they lack the top end emphasis (not extension) in MY SYSTEM. I bought my NBS used and so I would have not ordered the WAX gentleman. Deang
Did you snip the leads or desolder? If the latter, did you heat sink the leads?
mark1101
No snipping at all. Those leads are exactly as they were on the NBS. I took the utmost care to not overheat and sucked all the solder away at low heat prior to removal. I used alligator clips galore. Those leads were twisted around their connections and then soldered. It was a very careful surgery to get those out, and then I very carefully straightened the leads. Everything is in perfect condition and they appear brand new in all regards. Plus they are being sold at about half price after very little use.
