Khornukopia Posted August 31, 2022 Author Share Posted August 31, 2022 @formanjasked me about the door slabs I use for my 36" deep free-standing K-horn corners. PWK recommended 48" deep corners. Many factors about the environment will affect the requirements, such as proximity to walls, etc. My K-horns are not my primary speakers and so, are oddly placed along the middle of the side walls of the room, but they sound better than most other speakers I have heard over the years. Because they are not near any real corners, I added "wings" to guide the powerful bass response towards the listening area. The bass is better now than when they were in the real corners of the room. Khornukopia Posted September 2, 2022 Author Share Posted September 2, 2022 When I am away from home, I often read about and daydream of different amplifiers and other gear. When I get home, listen to my audio and appreciate how good my speakers sound, I am reminded that the room acoustic treatment is very beneficial to the overall sound quality, and has actually saved me a lot of money because I don't need to perpetually buy new equipment in an attempt to fix the sound of the room. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Khornukopia Posted December 28, 2023 Author Share Posted December 28, 2023 One of my 45 year old Klipschorns developed an unusual buzzing sound. I pulled the K-33 woofer and discovered that the cone was slightly tilted and therefore rubbing the voice coil. Probably just worn out from lots of fun parties. Khornukopia Posted January 11 Author Share Posted January 11 The K-43 is going back into the LSI to resume its role as a great party speaker. Any time I have a woofer out, I carefully inspect and tighten the wire connections to the cabinet, use a leaf blower to remove any dust and I also replace the gasket tape on the cover panel. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have had both and really can’t tell much difference between the two. When I compared the K-43 vs K-33 in 2 La Scalas, the difference was not very noticable at "normal" SPLs. With my Klipschorns, in my room, the K-43 sloped down at the lowest frequencies, but had a warmer upper bass response.
