I should have followed this thread. Got a pair of K77’s with maybe 200 Hours pulled from a pair of LS II. These K77 are unique to the LS II. The horn is wider and taller than the normal K77.

Probably the K-77-D, right?  The diaphragms are still the same though.

I personally melted the voice coil of an Electro-Voice SRO 12" musical instrument speaker (the predecessor of the EVM) in the early 70's, not because of the volume level, but because the amp I was using actually burst into flames. The amp (from SWTPC) was dumpster food after that, but I sent the SRO back to E-V and they rebuilt and returned it to me at no charge with no questions asked. I loved the sound of those speakers, but if you hauled your own gear they were ball-busters.

Southwest Technical Products? I think they had a habit of doing that...

Yeah, it was my failed attempt at converting a hi-fi amp into a guitar rig. Conrad Sundholm (Sunn amplifiers) did it successfully with Dynaco tube gear, but by using a Southwest Technical Products solid-state power amp kit, I bet on the wrong pony.

the horn lense is 1/4 inch wider on each side . versus a regular k77  -----and it  fits flush  ---by extending out  3/4 of an inch --

@bmoran  Not sure if I missed it but was it mentioned what the actual room dimensions are?  Just curious as I have a music room above our 3 car garage but I don't have the depth you have.  But, you may have it tied into a larger house than I do.  ha  Beautiful room.

I think Ampeg used a Dynaco ideas on one of their early '60s Portaflex, but I am probably not remembering it correctly.
