scott0527
Somehow, I think, in the REAL world, I'm going to need a bit of insulation to prevent shorting. Other than that, I'll bet they are just swell
Daddy Dee
I think duct tape would be the prefect insulator for these speaker cables. In fact, there might be an Ebay niche for HiTek RedNek.
Olorin
Heh -- just use push-pins to attach them to the drywall.
3dzapper
Here are my new home made speaker wires. They three strands of 0 guage wire with nifty lifters to keep the wires off the floor. Rick

Steve_L
I was pokin' around that site a bit. ...those are some far out systems those guys have got! I dunno.. kinda made me feel like I was back in the late 60s again. Is the sound really better, or is it that it's just so much fun playing with the older electronics and the beautiful turntable mechanisms. What great speaker systems too! Clearly a form follows function philosophy going on over there.
Deang
Yeah, it looks stupid -- even seems stupid, but air is the perfect dielectric. Watch yer step thar chief.
meuge
Isn't vaccuum the perfect dielectric? Oohh - now I know how I'll become rich -> i can design and manufacture some uber $3000 interconnects that have vaccuum as a dielectric... of course - they'll have to be kinda large, and not very flexible, hehe
Tom Mobley
you've got a typo there, you left a zero (0) off your dollar figure.

powdermnky007
So aside from the flame bait, which speaker cable do you think would be better, the cat 5 speaker cables I posted below http://www.venhaus1.com/diycatfivecables.html or the original link http://www.audiosold.com/articles/specables.htm Alot of the high end speaker cables I see are thin copper like the original link. If anyone recalls the system that guy sold all at once, that had tons of tweaks and isolation sandboxes, etc... he used this same kind of speaker wire. Anyone? rtaylor
I believe in the real world where most of us reside you would not want bare wire that close to each other. That is an accident waiting to happen. It looks like if a strong puff of air hit those they'd move. Why the chance? We have visitors here and 2 cats, not a chance. But did I take the bait here? The Cat5 wire looks interesting but I'd prefer a little simpler type. If you're the do it yourselfer look up some more types of DIY wires and build a half dozen and make up your own mind. I don't think you will find that you need to spend 100 dollars to get good sound, probably more like 10. IMO Good luck,, Randy
