Moderators Amy Posted October 19, 2005 Author Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2005 Well, if it were me, I'd get the new one. I personally like the looks better, and they did improve the structure of the cabinet. No major upgrades though. You really can't go wrong with either. This will have to be your call []

No major upgrades though. You really can't go wrong with either. This will have to be your call [] I am a Big Heritage fan and that was the whole reason I started coming to this forum. Now don't beat me up too bad here. I am going to go out on a limb to say that I don't particularly care for the new look of the La Scala II. I'm sure to most it looks better and looks more loke a Belle which seems to appeal to many as a beautiful speaker. Not sure why this new look hasn't settled with me yet. I think my taste is unlike most here anyway because I always wanted black painted speakers. I'm very happy for Klipsch deciding to make a step to keep the Heritage ALIVE.....just as they sound. Funny thing. When I showed my wife a picture of the new La Scala, she said, "That looks like R2D2 from Star Wars". Now I had to laugh. I do think the 1 inch bass bin would eliminate the resonance issue with the sidewall. jc
Parrot
You are not alone in having reservations about the new look La Scala. It is better when it's standing in front of you though.
link
Can you explain to me about this "bass bin." I have heard about it a few times in relationship to the Klipschorns and the La Scala. Exactly what is it??? Thanks.
Yesfan70
This particular dealer displays, stocks and sells a ton of Reference product. My guy says that the tall and thin is in, spoke of the WAF, yadda yadda. I guess they know what sells, where the margin is, and where to spend their floorspace dollar and inventory dollar... It's not only "WAF." I prefer the smaller footprint as well. I have been to 3 "Heritage" events recently and love the way the larger speakers sound, but I don't see them catching on for multichannel (size and shielding issues), HT situations. I was told that Klipsch marketing thinks there will be a revitalization of 2 channel listening at the home. As a Klipsch fan I hope they are right, but I don't see that happening on a mass market basis. Don't know if that is true or not, but if you ask me I have thought about going back to 2 channel a lot of times. Think about it. Most of us have one system for two uses, home audio and home theater. I put together my setup around 5.1 DVD-A and SACD (4 KG5.5 towers and a KG4.5 coverted to a bookshelf for center channel duty), but the more I think about it I think I might be better off going back to stereo. Most of my system use is 2 channel stereo listening of my CD collection. I have waaaaaaaay more CDs than I do 5.1 SACDs and DVD-As. Even adding in my DVD movie collection doesn't come close. Those new LaScalas are some of the best looking speakers I have seen. Right up there with Paradigm's Signature Series line. It would be no problem selling all my gear (mainly all my speakers and receiver) and using that for a down payment for the LS2s and a good used tube amp and pre/pro. You people are going to get me divorced! LMAO!!!!
colterphoto1
Can you explain to me about this "bass bin." I have heard about it a few times in relationship to the Klipschorns and the La Scala. Exactly what is it??? Thanks. In the LaScala cabinet we're talking about the approximate 2' cube that houses the folded horn design low end portion of the speaker system. On some Industrial (heavy duty woofer) models, it is actually a separate cabinet, but in any case this portion was acoustically separate from the housing for the mid/hi horns. Because the side walls were 3/4 plywood supported only on three edges, the older design tended to absorb a lot of very low frequency energy. The new design is two separate cabinets for the home version because of weight issues. The new bass portion is constructed of 1" MDF board to eliminate the cabinet vibrations and supposedly increase the bass somewhat. Yesfan70
One more thing Amy (if you don't care). Can you find out the nearest Heritage dealer that has the new models on display? Mileage doesn't matter. I live in Cleveland, TN (30 miles NE of Chattanooga) and the closest dealer is Georgia Home Theater in Atlanta. It was the only one the website listed. I did call GHT earlier today, but they only display the Reference line. I'm dying to see the new Heritage and give them a good demo.Thanks. IndyKlipschFan
Amy said... "No major upgrades though.." Hmm I know they said they have newer AK-4 networks, drivers (mids and highs) and they feel like they are lower..and a LOT smoother.. The above not only was talked about at the Pilgramage... But just about everyone felt the same way as well. (Others at the weekend can chime in, and please do..) These are very very beautiful up close... if you have the cash//// By all means go for it. Of course, your talking to a La Scala owner.. but seriously.... they ARE beautiful. The riser Is probably an inch or so much looking like the K horn top. Looking at the woodwork minus just a few on here....who also have outstanding skills.. 99.9 % of us would easliy have the drool factor over a new pair. Moderators Amy Posted October 19, 2005 Author Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2005 No dealers have the new Heritage in yet. They are just being made aware that they can place orders, then once they do, we will need to build to order.

Can you still tell me the closest Heritage dealers near the Chattanooga area (besides Georgia Home Theater in Atlanta)? And which of those that will display the Heritage line once orders are put in? BTW....I really appreciate your patience with us. Thanks a lot for the info.

LarryC
Below is a pic of the "jubilee" with the extra-large treble horn, IMO the best-sounding speaker at our Hope visit. See Cornwall III for pics and discussion.
seti
It is great to see so much attention paid to the heritage line. Cinema nah it should be released as a consumer version. Paul and Roy's hard work should be realeased as a consumer version especially like the one PWK is standing with. It looks finished to me. Just do it Klipsch.
