steamer
Has anyone ever listened to music in the dark?...no lights or anything on except our pride and joy music machines! All I will say to any naysayers is...can a blind man hear? Try it sometime, you might just get closer to the music...after all that is what this is all about right? There is nothing like that feeling when you cant see the speakers but you still feel those woofers rippling the air violently all around you... sfogg
I do it all the time. It helps get rid of the cognitive dissonance between what I hear about the room/space in the recording and what I see in my own room. Shawn

m00n
Absolutly. I find that I hear more detail this way. It helps me tune out my surroundings and am able to focus on the music.

Moderators dtel Posted December 20, 2005 Moderators Share Posted December 20, 2005 I like to close my eyes it seems like you can hear more,no distractions. The only problem i have is after a few songs i get so relaxed i fall asleep.wake up and nothing is playing .
jacksonbart
Its better in the dark (being married anyway) and that goes for listening to music as well. Usually remove the grills, mix up a cocktail, queue upa CD/DVD-A or SACD and turn off the lights.

Its a proven fact that your hearing improves when your brain is not processing optical data. It even helps to dim the light if you can't go totally dark. Parrot
Yes, listening to music in the dark is much better. Also interesting is that music immediately seems louder when I hit the light switch off. Try it yourself, switch the light back on and the music immediately seems to be quieter. I figure it has to do with focus, losing distractions, but I find it bizarre as hell that it works absolutely at once, for me anyway. As far as listening while drunk or doped up, I will yield to the experts.
ranjith
Music in the dark has this strange "suction" force that draws me much more into the music... its very livid. I especially like turning the lights off to Floyd, it fills the room with the mood. [] Ranjith
