  1. i don't know why you are talking about this at all in his thread! Ridiculous! Take it to pm if you have an issue with his price.

  2. The idea is that if you keep bidding on something, some other clown will do the same and one of you will pay more than you need to. If the OTHER clown has no time to respond, well, that's the idea behind the snipe. I have saved TONS of money by sniping. I've even had others contact me and ask what I was using. Ron

  4. Shakey, I mean no disrespect at all here and I think I am not far off base with my "assumption". I think Shakey is used to more refined "audiophile grade" gear and "consumer grade" mass produced gear does not seem to be his cup of tea, especially for quality music listening. And that is okay with me. I get that. Maybe he(Shakey) could be a little more tactful with his honesty and obvious disdain for such "common man" gear. There are some on this forum, including me, who are all about "bang for the buck" gear choices. Let's all decide to not take other member's opinions and preferences so seriously, especially when they are different from our own. :emotion-22: Bill PS NO piling on.

  5. I heard about this earlier today. It seems a bit strange that General Mills is responding to "consumer demand" considering that they are a member of the Grocery Manufacturers' Association which put up a huge amount of money to block the gmo labeling bill in Washington State in November. This is analogous to Monsanto issuing statements that they support gmo labeling in England and other European countries (but not here, of course.) Nothing like political hypocrisy.

  6. Those are beautiful. I think that price is very reasonable. I love those cane grilles. I kick myself daily for selling my '78's with cane grilles.

  7. He's a better college coach because he's a great recruiter and has better players. He wasn't a good X's and O's guy in Miami and I doubt he is in Alabama. Like I said, when the playing field is level like it is in the pros, he's not that great. Give him better players than everyone else and he's a good coach. He could never handle dealing with a salary cap and having to coach men.

  8. I have kgs in my theater room, when I first started building it I had a km-c center( kv-2 rebadged for military) on the floor due to a similar issue. No matter what I did the sound from it was non existent. Once it was brought up to ear level it was fine. I wanted more so I ended up retiring it and replacing it with a double kg5.5 center. Once I find the spare parts I will build a single kg5.5 center out of a spare cabinet I have and move the others to the rear.

  9. Actually, that's the "little" K510 horn. The larger K402 horn that's also used on JubScalas and nearly always on Jubilees is a bit bigger than a whole La Scala cabinet, at 41 inches wide and over 20 inches tall. It's the only instance I'm aware of where the tweeter is bigger than the woofer, quite a bit bigger in fact. The picture you posted is of my original right JubScala. Last June, I bought a pair of La Scala IIs and promptly converted them to 510 JubScala IIs. The original La Scalas (with CT125 tweeters and Sonicaps) are now behind the sofa, serving as left and right surround speakers, displacing a pair of Heresy IIs. This is my current right speaker. The LS2s are a definite upgrade over the original La Scalas.

  13. It may be kind of late for you at this point, but did you ever consider converting your La Scalas to JubScalas? It's a bit costly, but the sound improvements are really amazing, and there's no guesswork or experimentation required, since the combination has already been tested and tweaked by Roy Delgado at the Klipsch lab. If you upgrade/update to La Scala IIs later, all you do is put the Jubilee tweeters on top of the LS2 cabinets and plug everything in, because the EQ settings are exactly the same. Using an active crossover with the ability to very accurately tune the sound, as well as time-align the woofers and tweeters, is the ideal way to go, if you can make it fit your budget.

  14. THAT'S ME...I must thank everyone that helped her... Best gift ever. She completely had me blindsided. The best part of all she didn't skimp out. She left this part to me now...how to power these works of art. We were hoping that you would not catch her and think she was carrying on a cyber relationship with some dude, or in this case some dude(s). Bro, that woman loves you. wow about the dual SVS SB13 Ultras? You are in for a treat. Bill After this gift she can do whatever or whomever she wants. yea she takes care of me. Throughout the years she would make fun of me at the amount of research I do prior to buying anything. I would show her how I go on forums and absorb all the info and ask many questions. I guess I taught her well.

  16. I sold my 1986 CWs in pristine condition for 800.00, and that might have been a little low. A friend just sold his with Crites updates for 1000.00. I have seen them as low as 600.00 (which is what I paid for mine). I don't think 975.00 is out of line for speakers that look this good, just a little higher than I would pay. I think he will do fine though.

  18. (2) 3619 Autoformers, $80 (2) 2.5mH coils, $25 (2) .254 coils, $20 (2) Terminal strips, $10 (2) 12uF Jensen PIO, $262 (4) 2uF Jensen PIO, $178 (2) Red oak, sanded, waxed, $20 Labor, $250 Shipping from vendors, $30 Shipping to customer, $30 Total, $905 I polish every lead, the buss wire, and the connector plates on the terminal strips with .0000 steel wool and wipe with denatured alcohol. The wood is sanded with 220 and then waxed. After they dry I rub them out. I probably have more time in prep then most spend actually building their networks. All screws are stainless steel. With this build I used quite a few since I opted not to drill. These actually came out really nice looking. Scott just discovered he's not a horn guy. It happens.

  20. Sorry but couple of pieces of info I don't have is size of your room...forgive me if its there and I'm missing it, as well, I know about nothing about your receiver. Back again to the subs, however its a pricey experiemet, which is why I'm suggesting a friend or friendly store, I've gottnen lots of help that way, It might virtually solve your problem. I admit to being too lazy...LOL.. to move subs (its easier than picking up new one ones) but I like the tangibility of having what I might have in my room showing me how it would work. Of course they (your friend of store) might not be happy about it but thats the deal. I've bought two subs that way and also returned two subs that way. I've also offered a small gift at times, some accepted, some were in a position to say in no uncertain terms "no". Howver it is an imposition for some and its kind of fun to say "thanks" this way. The meat for me is that I just love sub bass sounds and if you do too you have to use the most realistic application to test what your going to have. That's just the way I did it. I would not pretend to know that my methods are superior to others. I just know with absolute certainty that I got the most amzing set up I ever dreamed of owning this way. Fortunately for me I've built a lot of good relationships, One last comment is I love my Denons and haven't heard too much negative about them but have heard some. All things considered, I wish you the very best in your search and hope have I helped in some way rather than hinder you. Now this now is really the last comment. There are members who know much more than I do on the forums. Truely, best to you. That's what these forums are really all about after all aren't they? Sometimes its really hard to know what its the next best move but again good smart friends as you are seeking out will often be the best resource. Nic
