  1. Thanks, we have 2 daughters. The oldest one is the first in my family to go to and graduate from a 4 year college (including my wife and myself). No one in my immediate family (parents, grandparents) had done that. My youngest had a blood vessel burst in her brains' ventricle when she was 19 days old and was life flighted to TX Children's hospital where she was in ICU for 45 days. She was discharged with a bleak prognosis and has done nothing but amaze us with her life. God has certainly had a hand in her recovery.

  2. Ok, just a few for now. This is the downstairs of the lake house, someone was hired to do the painting, the ceiling and walls, trim is the only thing left to be painted. Also a pic of the outside, the lake (78 acres) is being lowered for work on the back shoreline, it was about 24" down in this pic.

  4. Yeah.....I was fuming when I got home....wife simply hugged and kissed me and said "it's just metal.....best thing is that you're not hurt" put it into perspective pretty quicky It'll be drivable once I work out the trans problem....then I'll just wait until my buddies booth opens up and let him make it new again

  5. I can't think of anything more excruciating than waiting to talk to the Dr after a surgery. On second thought, watching your child's life flight helicopter disappear over the building tops is right up there with it. I'll continue to pray for Jackson and his Dr's.

  7. TGIF gentlemen. I sure wish I had a crew to come and gang up on my remodel. This morning it was 70 degrees outside, felt absolutely great. Maybe we've turned a corner as far as summer goes. There'll be some hot days ahead but they shouldn't be as hot and last as long. Friday night lights here tonight as well. My youngest daughter is a senior and in the band. We'll watch the first half of the game, then the half time show. Once she's done, we normally head home. We're extremely proud of how well our daughter has done academically (taking college courses this year) and as a whole as she started out life with quite a few major medical issues. Time has flown.

  14. This is upstairs where we were staying, we volunteered to paint downstairs last time we were there but he hired someone since our last trip, so we volunteered to paint upstairs. We painted it in 2 days, there was almost no trim on anything and the vinyl floors were going to be replaced so a little dripped paint didn't mater, so it was easy and gave us a little something to do during the day. It came out as good or better than downstairs, doesn't say much for the hired painter. I know it looks torn up but all new water lines were run for the second floor last time we were there so it was messed up repairing some drywall. It didn't look like this when we left, we had a good time and will be nice when complete. You have to realize before the clubhouse was built this house was just for parties, some had 250 people including outside and the driveway so this place took a beating over the last 20 years. He is now finishing it to have a nice place for people to stay and in some cases a week or weekend rental.

  17. Been at it since 6am. Leaving early to meet up with a group of friends and heading down to The 'Bank for the Jaguars/Lions game tonight. Should be a great time with old friends.. On a lesser nice note.....crumpled the front of the Civic on my way home last night. Was turning right on a green light and the idiot in front of me comes to a complete and abrupt stop....SMACK atleast two fenders and a hood from a buddy that owns a body shop only comes to $195...he's gonna come look at it tomorrow and give me an estimate. It has a pretty bad dent in the rear fender from a previous encounter with a concrete mailbox...and a small crease in the rear passenger door from same said mailbox....so he's gonna give me an estimate for everything... Would have driven it to work but the trans lock out solenoid is acting up and giving me the flashing D4 issue. Have to look at it tomorrow to see if it possibly came unhooked during impact....as it's right here where the most damage was....ehh...oh well...could have been much worse btw...the other truck didn't even have a scratch....ran right into his tow hitch

  20. Sitting here drinking coffee thinking about how much grass I need to cut, I let the little dog out so he could go to the bathroom and he is not happy, the grass is up to his head. Good thing he is small (Minpin) or I would need a bush hog and not a finishing mower. But another coffee before I start. I have to tell everyone Best Buy sucks, I know not a big surprise. A new Tv was scheduled to be delivered a couple of days after we left, our daughter was going to let them inside to drop it off between 10am and 2, they never showed up but called later to say it would be the next day between 1 and 3. On the second day they called and said they didn't have it in the warehouse. After the second scheduled delivery date was missed Christy called from where we were in Arkansas and was told " It's just like anywhere you buy online it's not guaranteed we have it" That was all it took to get my wife going further up the line to talk to someone who could giver her an answer. Well now it "should" now be delivered on the Monday, we will see ? The last girl actually tracked down the model ordered and made sure it was going to be to the store for delivery this time, I hope she is right anyway, it will be well over 3 weeks by the time we get it and if there is another problem I would guess my wife will ask for the money back and go somewhere else. I have to rebuild the present cabinet that goes around the old Tv which was a CRT projection to have the new Tv sit on top of, which will take a few days and I have all this grass to cut so these things gave me a little patience to put up with BB's But they didn't know this, as far as they knew we had no Tv, not that they really care about customers problems once they get the money.

  21. Morning Gang 75 in the Cave, i think 90 today tops. Farm run in a few Min, got phone calls last night from one of the farmers, bi -otching at their "Coldwater" shower(s), so i assume their electric waterheater has bit the dust. They want me to stop by the farm market and pick up a few Turkey/Avacado Clubs on the way, yum. I do try and avoid farm runs on fridays, last two times i get a BM shoved at me as soon as i get there, and then dont come home till Sat. Quads/booze/guns/cards, everything comes out by noon today.....

  22. Would appreciate thoughts & prayers for my son, Jackson. He had a tube surgically implanted in his intestine earlier this year. This morning it came out, so he had to go to the ER. Prolly going to require surgery to remove a curved part of his intestine...

  23. Fancy light fixtures, the best $2 could buy This place is over 20 years old and light fixtures were originally picked out but never bought or installed. It was a party house to put it nicely. The bottom floor is 800sf and the top 600sf, not counting the wrap around porches. Well we brought bedding for a double mattress so we used the one on the floor. I would not use any of the beds without something covering them. Way to much traffic has gone through this place, I threw one mattress out the front door and more to follow (all but one set). The tables were really strong but they were way to high to fall off of in the middle of the night, although I did have some ideas.

  24. Yeah i had to dig back threads to last Sat to find your question. you remember asking me that a week ago eh? I cannot remember the day before yesterday....dam man. Anyway these farmers are Dutch, that must mean something to anyone that knows them. 10+ years i casualy had a beer with one, finely was invited to a BBQ, what was going on was they were checking me out, seeing if everyone approved of me being on the "In"side. Meaning these guys are settlers, and have been in this state since they killed indians/Mexicans to get and keep their land. Water rights will never be a concern, grandfathered-in big time. Rice/Hay/Walnuts/grapes is pretty much the guys i know.

  25. Mornin guys. Pretty easy day on tap. We do plan on meeting up with friends in Idaho Springs to night for a while. Carl ... congrats on raising a fine daughter. We had some bumps in the road for a while, but ours graduated (finally) from college and we're expecting our second grandson in the next few days. Not sure if she'll ever really use that college degree, but at least she has it. Could not be more proud of her. Cheers guys. Have an excellent day!

  26. T G I F good morning everyone! :emotion-44: Thanks for the photos dTel........now about that over head lighting............ Hey there Mark, wasn't sure if you ever caught my question about 'farming' in an earlier post..., or, did I miss your answer...? Ok, TONIGHT, I am stopping by my local high end audio dealer which is only a few blocks away from my work. I have arranged to purchase the Cambridge Audio Azur 851E preamp which will drive the Dynaco amps.. This will probably be the final, big $$$ upgrade to the Music Hall audio system for a while. With the rave reviews and the capabilities it made sense to go from an AV receiver's preamp stage to a dedicated unit. I will be giving it a test run this evening over in RTM as we pay tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan this weekend... Enjoy your day my friends.. ..........Gary

He said when they're out together someone will say something like "are all those yours?". And she of course says "Yes" And then they say something like "your destroying the earth" What a bunch of nutjobs.

  37. Good morning all. Yesterday I was appointed co-chair on a OSHA safety committee for the branch. Getting up to speed on all the regulations and requirements. Luckily my wife was committee chair at her last job. She is a wealth of knowledge. Looks like a ton of paperwork to create and track. Kind of like my life with ISO2008/2015.

Like a dj besides myself a lot,lol ! Thinking of popping a top. Have a good evening Gary and all! Friday used to be my lucky day when I went with luck. Certainly got the shakes, and drummed on the schooldesk a lot counting down 6th period. Usually had help ! Sorry kids, you got to get a decent education to buy yourself in, lol ! Now my laugh is tempered by my weekend job, lol !

  39. That's great Jackson is home. I've been around sporadically, Chuck. Haven't had as much time to keep up here and post regularly. When I clicked on the C&C forum, it took me back 45 or so pages to August 2nd. I just went back about a week to try to get caught up. How is Jake doing? Marley was hurting big time last year from playing rough with Blaze outside. We initially gave him low-dose 81 mg aspirin not wanting to get his stomach upset. Our vet told us we should give him 325 mg SAFETY_COATED aspirin. He is about 100 lbs so he needed a higher dose, but the key was to get the safety-coated. Check with your vet. I know I wrote down notes about how many a day we could give him. I will look for them. I think we only gave him one or two a day spread out...morning and night after his meal. It definitely relieved his pain until he mended. Mark, can I borrow Mr. Crow? The last two mornings the crows have been in the woods cawking at each other like you wouldn't believe. Yesterday I yelled out the window as loud as I could and cawked back. They kept going for at least 10 minutes straight. I would have thought they would have cawked them selves sore. Same thing happened this morning. I went out in my underwear and beeped the car horn several times...didn't phase them. Went back inside and got my old Elmer Fudd side-by-side 20 gauge. Never had a good shot, but the war is on. Anyway, it would be nice if Mr. Crow could teach them some manners and respect and how to talk in the calm voice Mr. Crow talks with. Great job! Going to start jammin SRV pretty soon and most of the night. Any SRV fans (and I hope that is everyone) come on over to Right This Minute or the SRV Tribute thread tonight and this weekend and join the party!

  40. God is certainly good. She had an enormous cyst that showed up on several MRI's during her stay there, most likely due to the severe hydrocephalus she developed. By the time we left, they couldn't find it. The Dr's indicated there was a very likely chance she'd have serious cognitive and physical disabilities. We were told not to get our hopes up.
