  3. ^^ it's all over the place. My 12 y.o. daughter got blindsided with a punch to the forehead after school, on the grounds, about the time the angry Korean wife pulled up and took off after the 8th grader female. My daughter tackled the wife yelling "stop, I'll be kicked out of athletics for retaliation". Meeting with the principal and school security today was all about if my daughter had swung back. If she had raised her fist in self defense she too would be suspended. Wonder why there are bullies? Attacker gets two days of in school suspension and daughter has option to press charges. Today after school one of the 8th grader girls that is in choir with my daughter challenged yesterday's attacker for picking on a 7th grader and it became a cat fight until a male teacher dove in between them. The wife and I are at odds over this tonight. I told my kids that if they are physically attacked to stand their ground and defend themselves. Wife, after talking to police and principal, says never to hit back. Me to principal: if you are saying that my children cannot defend themselves from attack then the school is responsible totally for their safety and injuries. If you are unable to prevent attacks, I will sue you. If she is attacked and fights back and then you suspend her I will sue you for false promise to protect. Ms Principal didn't think that a low life, ordinary citizen could challenge her. Cop was all good. Might need a lawyer soon. Video of the choir group shows that yesterday was an unprovoked attack. BTW, Eri was not really hurt.

  5. Oh yeah, had to think for a sec or 2. Yes man, Oldtimer was here before I. Takes a bit and less for others to understand. Far as subject is concerned, think I could talk him out of a small sample of his "Real"...hot stuff. No your good or even better so welcome some more as I am being welcomed. At least not ejected. Barely know but would like...

  7. The not hurt part is very good. Bullying however is not. You sound as if you care and you have understanding, of course. Bullies, who needs them... Showing restraint and the system is not easy as a parent. More power to you. Cool heads sometime prevail although, cannot be easy to do.

  10. Morning gang Farmer got his sat internet. Then i had to explain why, even though his PC is brand new, 7 years ago, it does not preform. Spent $3Bones at Frys on the way home last night, and by 3Am had it pretty much dialed in. Will take it out to the farms on the weekend. Sourcing concrete supplys for the impending "River Rock" wall project. I hope everyone took Skeeter spray and Asprin to Hope..........

  12. @billybob Like the profile pick of "The Scream". It's probably what most of us would turn into reading oldtimer's past posts. Throw some blonde hair and a couple of womanly curves on the poor soul in the painting and it would also be like my wife when I start talking about buying new gear.

  16. That kinda sucks. Where are you looking at going to in Oregon? I cover the eastern edge with my job, and I know the rep that has the rest of the state real well. We could come up with some areas, recommendations if you like. What kind of terrain, lifestyle do you like? Quiet country with mountains, or city?

  20. Mean people suck. Steve, get the hell out of there. Good luck with your kids MIke. Middle and high schools are getting worse all the time. Kids are basically out of control fueled by the fact that there's no corporal punishment or real repurcussion for their actions.

  21. Same with the fight at my daughters school. One of the girls is the proverbial bully, bad apple. Unfortunately, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Kids have seen her Mom and it tells the story. I'm with you though, if one of my girls would have gotten sucker punched I'd be fuming. If you do have a chat, be careful. You don't know what a lot of these moron's are capable of doing. People on this forum, for the most part, seem to have a simple thing called logic. This is an ability/trait that escapes many anymore.

  22. strange day. I was nearly in a fist fight today. I’m standing outside Starbucks waiting for my brother. I’m pacing around and then walk to the door and look through the window to see if it’s crowded inside. I’m standing about six feet away from an outside table. some young dude, shaved head and neck tattoos is there playing rap music rather loudly. suddenly, he gets up and charges me, gets within arm’s reach and says “what are you doing? why are your hands in your pocket?” Now, i could tell by the way he came out me that something may go down, mentally i was preparing for a fight. I did calmly say “what are you talking about...i’m waiting for someone, now get the F*** away from me." at that moment, my brother walks out the door, doesn’t say a word, just grabs my arm and starts leading me away. the dude was mumbling something as he walked back to his table. And i think i called him a F’n A-hole as i walked away. actually my brother was afraid that the guy had a gun. He’s clearly spent time in jail based on his over aggressive action and his paranoia. Not sure why he didn’t take a swing at me, maybe he expected me to back down and when i didn’t he changed his mind? I wasn’t that much bigger than him...maybe 2 inches in height and 20 pounds. It has been decades since I was threatened like that. But, that’s life in the big city...stay in one place too long and people get suspicious. In hindsight, my brother leading me away was a good thing. I was willing to still sit down at a table and eat; but, he wanted to get me out of there. Wise move. i want to say that i would have kicked the crap out of him because my experience and knowledge would have overcome his youth; but, then again, I’m 56. Years ago, i could take a punch to the face, remain standing, and fight back--now i’m 56 with two herniated disks in my neck--i don’t know what a punch to the face would do to me. I know how to protect myself, so if i endured the first punch--i think he’d be in a world of hurt right now. however, glad it didn’t resort to violence. I’m about as easy a going guy as you’re gonna meet, and will walk away from a fight more times than not; but, i’ll tell you ... when that dude came up quick on me being all aggressive, i was ready, and i’m not sure how i feel about myself now. @minermark DANG YOU MARK...you had to remind me a few weeks back that i haven’t gotten out of here alive yet...i guess i better stay on my guard.

  23. I posted a picture of my home cinema earlier. Finally took care of some unfinished business the last couple of weeks and added acoustic panels to the room and carpeted the elevated second row of seating. The room itself is now finished. Only intend to upgrade my projector. Loving the current sound of the setup. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

  26. Then that's your area of focus, it would seem. Perhaps tapestries or a quilt on a wall in the hall to absorb some of those reflections. I assume that the hall has a hard floor--no carpet? That in itself shouldn't be an issue, but it will put more first reflections (the strongest type of reflections) on the back of the room. I had a room like that in my prior abode where I was using Magnepan MG-IIIa's, and the ceiling height reached almost 20'. It didn't seem to strongly affect the imaging of the speakers when they were stationed 6 feet away from the low ceiling portion of the room. I tried the Magnepans in another room with high flat ceilings and couldn't discern any real differences. The high ceiling itself is good, because it delays the reflections outside of the so-called "Haas zone" (more than 20-25 ms delay time arrivals). I listened to a Jub (K-402/K-69 then a K-510/K-69) inside the Hope anechoic chamber. I don't really want to do that again. The effect was fairly disorienting to balance/equilibrium, although it wasn't as bad with the speaker playing as when there was no sound at all. It was very easy to hear the frequencies of polar spilling around the K-402 and the K-510 horns as you walked around to the back of the speaker. It was like visualizing the 3-D field of the loudspeaker (a synesthesia-like experience) in front of you: overall it was a weird experience. They could probably put that sort of thing in a fun house at a Midway to thrill the teenagers... It was also very stuffy--like crawling through an attic covered in rock wool... Chris

  28. I started construction on mounting the Heresy III speakers in the ceiling. The one you see in the picture would be the rear right height speaker. I'll have 4 of these heresy iii speakers placed above. The ceiling I have is tilted or cathedral type ceiling?, but I think this was good because it will angle the speaker towards the listening position better. I think putting these large speakers in the ceiling is the way to go, lots of people use tiny bookshelf up firing speakers but how can they compare to a large full range speaker with a 12" woofer placed right above your head high up in the proper location?

  31. @billybob Honestly, I think it would be a blast to go to the Klipsch gathering with a bunch of forum members, such as yourself. I can't afford to, but the conversations would be intriguing to say the least. A few days with all of these knowledgeable, distinct personalities, would give lifetimes of reflection. I just wish I lived closer to some of these folks to enjoy their company and listen to their setups. I must sadly admit I've never even heard any of the Heritage lines. Especially, with tubes and all of the nice stuff many folks have. OK, I'm going off on another tangent.....

  32. Your killing me with the responses. You seem to have a bit of a, well obvious, satirical side to you, I can appreciate that. Awnry is a quality trait. I've been accused of possessing a bit of that myself. I can only imagine what your other 19,000+ posts read like. No, I'm not going to go back and read them..

  33. If I'm following your reference correctly, please, please, don't mistake what I'm saying as representative of Washington in it's entirety. Believe me, it's a great, beautiful place to live. Tons of quality individuals here. Anyone that's been here, or lives here, will tell you the same. I was generalizing as to the parents/kids that are fitting of the previous posts. Sorry, I jumped on a bit of soap box. I'm subjected to more of these stories because of the kids my wife works with. I get fired up when I think of kids with plenty of potential being sold short by their own parents. As far as half of my 7th graders class failing, my other daughters 8th grade, and the 6th grade class, are fine. It's just a bad pocket of parents with the 7th graders. I guarantee you that you could find my analogy in every part of the country. Anyway, hope everyone has a better day tomorrow.
